A taste of Las Vegas outside The Strip

If you want to visit Las Vegas, see the actual city, stay at a hotel casino, but not at The Strip ( te area where most of the casinos are located as you see in the movies) a good option is the Red Rock Casino and Resort. Located in Summerlin, the plush residential area where you find good restaurants, shopping malls, churches and get to know life in Las Vegas, besides having the gambling options and shows offered at the Red Rock. You still are at a short distance from the Strip and all it can offer. You are also at a short ride from The Red Rock Canyon, a national reservation that shows some of the history of the native people, life in the desert and good trais for those that enjoy a good walk in the wild. If you like mountains, in Las Vegas you re surrounded by them. Keep an eye for the change of color throughout the day. It's beautiful.

My favorite resort in Vegas!

Let me start by saying the view from our room was amazing! I could of sat in the window all day looking at the mountains and pool area! They have everything you could possibly want or need at this resort. Our room was very nice. Loved the marble bathroom :). Had a great time gambling and won! Went to the buffet and it was good. Bartenders did a good job with our drinks. It's not far from so many things to do. We visited red rock canyon and enjoyed our day. This resort is by far our favorite in the area. Five stars!!!

Great rooms and shopping area

We stayed at the Red Rock Resort for 2 nights in early November. I wanted to shop in the area's Shops @ Summerlin, IKEA store, Nordstrom Rack, etc. I am not a big gambler, but we had played in the casino many times in the past. Its not the fanciest casino I have been to but the hotel area is on a totally different level. I would consider the casino a 3/5 but the hotel area and rooms are more like 4.5/5. Awesome.Front desk was welcoming and it was easy to get help from Valets and Bell desk. Our room which was a Deluxe King was very spacious, a comfortable platform bed, side chairs and a slick modern look that was impressive. The bathroom was huge and the counter space more than enough for myself and hubby. Closet space was ample. There were items for purchase: snacks and drinks in the room as well. Everything was new, clean and much more than I expected for the price point. There is a 24 hr cafe where we had breakfast. It was decent value for the price. We were unable to get into any of the other restaurants due to it being very busy. But have eaten at Yard House and Lucille's in the past. Both are pretty good. Its also an easy walk to the Shops at Summerlin and its many dining options. I really appreciated that fact. Dine and then walk off the calories. I wish the hotel had more information about those restaurants but realize they are not related. Overall I would return for another weekender there. Kudos to all the staff members who were so kind to us during our stay.

Once you get the lay of the land, it's fantastic!

My wife and I arrived for her birthday weekend and immediately made our first mistake. We parked in the west parking garage. This is fine if you're just coming for the casino, but it is the worst possible place to park for access to the hotel. Live and learn. Parked in the east garage the rest of the trip. Finding the check in desk was challenging in part because we parked as far from it as humanly possible and because signage for it in the casino was minimal, but once we found it, the process was quick, professional and extremely polite and friendly. The property as a whole is enormous, but it also means you don't really have to leave to have fun. There is a bowling alley, movie theater, numerous restaurants, some available 24 hours. I'm not a huge gambler, but the casino seemed like it had 10 of everything anyone could want, probably more. The area around the Red Rock has a decent amount of shopping and entertainment available, also. Went to our room and found that even with a "basic" king bed room, the place was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, clean everything, nice big TV in the bedroom area and a great view, in our case of the Strip in the distance. Very cool at night. The bathroom was enormous with a deep soaking tub (non-jetted) and a separate shower. There was a small TV in the bathroom above the tub for use while bathing, but it was extremely fritzy while we were there. Per maintenance, this is a common problem since the TVs were not sourced with any kind of water resistance in mind. The shower offered good water pressure and good soaps and shampoos. There is a minibar fridge and for sale items in the room, but as expected, they are absurdly overpriced. But if money is no object, go for it. Unfortunately, the fridge is not able to accommodate anything other than the minibar items. There is a small desk space, decent wifi and wired internet available. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to returning.
