The Mirage Resort Casino
- What's Included
This was our first visit to this MGM property. We found the hotel to be fine, escept for one day when they did not make up our room for some reason. This was quickly corrected after a phone call. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Stayed 5 nights at the Mirage on a business trip. I can't say enough about the comfortable bed and more the pillows! They offer an assortment of pillows on each bed. Wish more hotels would follow suit..The Mirage also offers several restaurant options but honestly I must say LVB Burger was hands down delish! I was with a group of 4 people, each ordered something different and all of us loved our food. The wait staff was very kind as well. To be honest most if not all restaurant staff through out the hotel were very kind and upbeat.
I had a terrible experience at the Mirage and will not recommend this hotel to anyone at all. I could have picked a worse hotel to have spent my Birthday, Anniversary celebration and my wife's first time to Vegas. I checked in on the 31st and was told on check in that I'd be required to pay the balance of what I owed from my initial booking which was around $700. Over and above this, I was told by the lady (I think her name was Laura), that I'll be needing to pay an additional $400 against incidentals and room expenses during my stay. I have no issues with this so far. My card was swiped with the amount of $1100 and a charge hits my card in my local currency in INR. I am them told that the charge hasnt gone through and that the system timed out; which is strange as I get a notification by my bank that I am charged this amount. I am not told anything further and am given the keys to my room, while not being asked if I need help with my bags to the room. So we drag our bags across the casino floor and find our way about by ourselves, too much to expect I guess to get help with the bags and shown the way.Day 1, the 1st of Jan-I am charged an amount of 300$ odd for which I get a notification again via my bank. I dont think much of it(even though I have confirmation of a charge of 1100 going through the previous day and being billed for the full amount and a 400$ charge over and above that) Day 2-the 2nd of Jan-This time I get a notification saying that I have been charged an amount of 1000$.Now, this gets my attention and I call the front desk and speak to a guy called Greg. He mentions that the charges are absolutely normal as the first charge of 1,100 never went through. On asking why I was charged 1300 vs 1100 he doesnt have an answer and says he'll find out and get back to me and never does.Day 3-I am charged another amount of 300$ today, so far a charge of 1600$, nowhere close to the 1100$ (700 of what I owe and 400 for incidentals) as per what I was told I'd be charged(I havent charged anything to the room either). At this point, I am quite frustrated having been so patient and speak to a lady called Christina for nearly half an hour. we then do a back and forth as she doesnt have any answers either. She asks her head cashier to remove my card from the system as she has no way of explaining how my account gets charged for 300$+1000$+300$. What a way to spend a vacation at the Mirage so far! The evening of the 3rd of Jan, I am charged another amount of 710$ and find the need to abandon my shopping at the outlet malls abruptly needing to speak to a manager and find out what's going on. I head back from the premium outlet malls and make a beeline for the front desk and speak with a manager Manny (Emmanuel) who recognizes the mistakes that have happened on account of the Mirage and acknowledges the fact that this is a horrible way to be holidaying. He at this point reverses the additional erroneous charges to the account immediately and gives me a printed receipt of whats been charged(710$) vs whats been reversed (1600$)At this point, I am only looking to get out of the Mirage and head back, talk about a ruined Holiday and Birthday celebration with the number of calls to the front desk, no one having a clue of whats going on and the exasperation of picking the Mirage to bring in my Birthday and celebrate our anniversary.Day 4-Check out, I receive an email from the front desk Manager who assures me after the agonizing past few days that the charges have been reversed and that we're all good. The resort fees are refunded as a gesture, to compensate for the multiple mess ups on behalf of the Mirage. So I sign whatever I need to and check out. The evening of the 4th-guess what, yes I get a charged an amount of $300 again over and above the 710$. I shoot a couple of emails to the front desk Manager and finally have to call him (at this point I am back home and no longer in Vegas) and he mentions that there was a "smoking" charge issued to my room as it was suspected by Room service I smoked in the room on checking out and this was a penalty given the hotels non smoking policy. This was the last straw that broke the camels back and was outrageous! I haven touched a cigarette my entire life, let alone now and I am being charged an amount of 300$ due to a smoking smell that came from my room while checking out. I had to clearly explain that I have been a non-smoker my entire life and that this was a ridiculous charge being levied. I was still in a shock while explaining myself to the Manager; I was told that the charges will be reversed. The experience continues to haunt me till date and I truly regret choosing the Mirage to bring in New Years, celebrate my Anniversary and my Birthday. I have spread the word around within my family and friends who are frequent Vegas goers to stay clear of the Mirage given what I had been through. It is beyond me how a hotel belonging to the MGM group of this standard has made so many blunders in a such short span of time. I find it hard to understand how they struggled to get it right, this is no rocket science and considering they do this day in and out, it really beats me how the Mirage messed up and did absolutely nothing to make amends. Well, you succeeded perfectly well in screwing up my holiday and giving me a terrible time! The room was no great deal either, dilapidated and the bed rest chipping in a few areas. There are several other resorts worth considering on the strip, I can assure you that the Mirage isnt one of them. There isnt anything at all that was memorable for us during this stay and I wish I had chosen another resort to spend my anniversary and Birthday!
I remember a time when The Mirage was considered fancy...yeah, hubby and I stayed here on our first visit to vegas in '96 (yikes, that long ago??). Fast forward to 2017 and we were back reserving one of their 2 bedroom tower suites.Pros:Service, Service, Service. Every staff member I interacted with (valet, bellman, maid, desk clerks), were friendly, courteous and seemed to enjoy their jobs. WHAT?! Management must treat their employees right! (I noted that the bellman all did fist bumps as they passed one another).I also love that this hotel is not a maze (unlike the Venetian) and I could easily find my way.Conveniently has a FedEx shop Had no problems with internettvs had HDMI access Cons:Rooms need updating; paint fading, cracks in wall etc. Also, decor felt like I had stepped back to the '80's. And I hated the screens on the windows. I guess they block the sun, but it obstructs your view.Room service has limited menu (i.e. yes on coffee, no on cappuccinos). We had a very enjoyable visit!
We stayed 5 nights in a standard queen room and have had a really good stay! The room was ok (despite the bathroom was quite small and old), the people were all very nice and the restaurants and bars allVery convenient. We appreciated all that very much and found it a very good value for money.
