Castle Kaha Lani Resort
- What's Included
simply wonderful, great accommodations, great people, great location.....one bedroom with one and a half baths.....views were great and landscaping was subtle and maintained -wonderful way to celebrate forty nine years of marriage
Stayed here for a family graduation on Kauai. The grounds are immaculate-props to the maintenance staff here. Check-in was not as easy because we made reservations through Castle site it got messed up. We had elderly traveling & couldn't climb stairs,we notated when making reservations for ground level but because of the holiday there was a mix up. And wanted a 3 bedroom to stay together. The staff on Oahu made a mistake because they don't know the set up, but the front desk fixed it- with the help of the manager we got 1 room on the ground level & another 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor. That's the best they could, which turned out okay in the long run-i guess. Otherwise, this place is great- just read all the reviews & look at all the pictures. It does live up to its ratings. Many rooms here are rented by owners online & some managed by Castle,so buyer/renter beware note all the same due to where you get it from. The 1 bedroom (apt-111)we got was a little dated but well equipped with dishes, pots & pans, linens (ours did not come with housekeeping services) acceptable carpets & dated decor, old school TV & great internet connection. But kinda homey with beach stuff you can use, great location for the beach/literally yards away & easy drive from airport- but just get good directions because signage here is minimal. The 2 bedroom much nicer(apt208)- it was just renovated-chic decor, updated everything! TV, carpet, well-equipped kitchen, bathrooms were fantastic! We were more here than the 1 bedroom. Still this property is great- we would definitely come back. Just remember no elevators. Each room not the same- decor varies, nice area but the roosters do crow first thing in the morning. Overall, great place to stay on Kauai.
I just returned from two nights at the Kaha Lani. Upon checking in, I was presented with a bill for $50 plus tax for a cleaning fee. I booked my trip as a package through Tripmasters, so I was not aware of this additional fee. I always assumed that housekeeping would be included in the hotel's nightly rate, and I have never seen this before. I was also asked if I wanted to use the safe in my room which would cost me another $2.50 per day, which I declined. While I was out sightseeing much of the day, I really only showered, slept and made coffee there, and did not really need any housekeeping during my stay. I left my garbage tied up per the instructions, I did not leave housekeeping a tip because they never visited my room while I was there. This would not have been an issue except that I had paid additional for housekeeping, and left me feeling a bit ripped off. With that being said, my room was updated for the most part except for some of the furnishings, again not an issue because I spent very little time there. Overall it waas quite comfortable. The views were beautiful and the roosters were not a bother to me at all. So close to Lydgate Park, which I really enjoyed! Being able to listen to the ocean all night was lovely as well.
After reading many reviews, I was expecting to find ourselves at an 'okay plus' resort. However, we stayed a month, and, now, I find myself really missing many of the details that the Kaha Lani offered us. It wasn't perfect but it provided us with a lovely refuge from which to recover after each day's exploration of the island. We stayed in suite 303 on the third floor just off the beach. We had originally hoped for one of the condos that ran parallel to the beach but, after a couple of days, appreciated that ours, which was situated kitty corner to the beach offered us a more complete view, shade in the worst heat of the day and the breeze at night. The condo, itself, was much more spacious than we expected and was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we arrived at the same time as the painters and for at least two of the four weeks that we spent there, we had to endure their constant activity and noises. While we realize that they were just doing a their jobs, and were trying their best to be invisible, they intruded upon our peace and quiet. Although we enjoyed the nearby beach, we set out early each day to check out other beaches and trails so that we could appreciate the island and all it had to offer. In the evenings, after the painters were gone, we were able to truly enjoy our condo and have since recommended it to several of our friends.
We've stayed here every time we've been to Kuaui, and the island wouldn't be the same if we had to stay somewhere else. The Kaha Lani embodies the spirit of Kuaui; quiet, tranquil, clean, and restful. Vistas of the ocean are exceptional, especially from a third floor unit with ocean views. Morning walks on the beach are easy because it's no more than fifty yards away from most units. The staff is helpful and attentive, but not intrusive. April (the person, not the month) deserves special praise for taking such good care of us when we arrived. She is the model for customer service and friendliness.
