Castle Kaha Lani Resort
- What's Included
We just stayed 10 nights in unit 324 - 2 couples in our 60's. A few minor glitches (vacation doesn't mean you get to escape the realities of everyday life) were handled very quickly by office and housekeeping. As indicated everywhere in their advertising, there is no air conditioning, but the ceiling fans and louvered windows were more than sufficient to keep the place comfortable. The upper floors do get the better breezes. We liked that we were away from the pool and the inconsiderate family from Cleveland (yikes - loud music, beer bottles, putting the furniture in the pool!!), but managed to learn when they wouldn't be there. So the pool was very enjoyable other than this one group. You can exchange your beach towels once a day in the office.Lydgate Park is really only a 5 minute walk down the path. It was just the place for easy snorkeling and bobbing about in the water. One of the reasons we chose a condo was so we didn't have to deal with having housekeeping coming in every day. Here, they exchanged bath and kitchen towels every third day, replenished shampoo, etc - just right for us. The kitchen was well stocked. I have no problem paying a one-time cleaning fee. Again, if you read Kaha Lani's website, this is clearly explained. I don't understand folks who complain about things that should have been included in their homework. If you want to be in the middle of resort-central with hundreds of tourists around you at all times, Kaha Lani is not for you. We will definitely return...
For our first visit on Kauai, we decided to stay on the eastern shore. Condo in Kaha Lani turned out to be an excellent choice. Accommodation was conveniently situated within close distance of Lihue airport, great hiking, shopping and eating places in Wailua, Kapaa and Lihue. But the best part –was the walking and biking trail running just by the resort. For the people loving Hawaii but scared of the ocean, there was Lydgate beach completely protected by stone barrier (a five-minute walk from the resort) - ideal for a morning swim (or snorkel) and watching sunrise while having the beach almost for yourself. Kaha Lani is an older resort but is meticulously maintained, quiet (all you hear is the ocean and birds) and clean. It had more homey feeling than being touristy. There is plenty of parking. Lush and well kept landscaping offers good privacy for the lodging. Our unit 216 was on the second floor. It had two cozy bedrooms (each with bathrooms), spacious living room with dining area and a good size, well equipped kitchen. Everything was clean, well organized and tastefully decorated. We had use of the beach stuff (located in the storage on the balcony) and beach towels. In the hall, there was a small selection of the books and board games. Another source of entertainment was the TV unit (with some CDs and DVDs) in the living room (but with so many things to do in Kauai, we didn’t have time to use it). From the balcony, there was a partial view of the ocean, and nice view of the mountains from the kitchen window and the sitting area by the entrance. There was no AC in the condo, but the ceiling fans and portable fans created enough breezes for pleasant indoor stay. The communication with Kauai Vacation Rentals was excellent and we got very detailed information about our stay. Even though we spend most of our vacation outdoors exploring this beautiful island, we enjoyed having this unit for our week home base. We definitely recommend renting Kaha Lani unit 216.
Had a few days here with my family. Close to the airport and Lihue and right off the Kuhio Highway which takes you pretty much anywhere you would want to go on the island. Immaculate grounds right on the beach. Great little pool too. The resort was a bit quiet, which was nice. The staff were welcoming. The accommodation was well furnished with a good kitchen and comfortable rooms. I understand that the properties are privately owned so the furnishings may differ between units, but although some of our unit showed signs of age and wear - it was perfectly adequate and comfortable.Location close to Lydgate State Park (3 mins walk) was a bonus, with safe lagoons to swim in. Overall a great place to stay.
We stayed a week in #221. It had everything we needed and a fantastic view of the ocean. The condo was very close to the pool and laundry. The deck was spacious and there were items for the beach included. There aren't any blackout blinds or curtains so it is very bright, but other than that we had a great time there. Things to note: the beach directly in front of the complex is not for swimming due to large waves and strong currents, Saturday is local soccer at the field across the street so it can be noisy, and careful using the coin laundry washer, out dark clothes got bleach marks from whoever uses it before us.
easy to find, located next to Lydgate Park- must see beach/park if you visit. off highway 56, no more than 15 minutes from Lihue Airport. Grounds are nice, clean and well kept. our view was spectacular. this was our 2nd trip to the islands and have been very lucky to have almost unobstructed views of the pacific. Room/apartment was clean, needs in my opinion some updating(furnishings), kitchen was modern and everything necessary to cook a gourmet meal or make a light snack. the price was very reasonable considering how expensive lodging can get on the islands. our room could comfortably accommodate 4 adults. 1 bedroom and sofa bed in living room. we stayed in the living room for the breeze and wonderful sounds of the ocean. would I stay there again- yes. would I recommend - yes. the staff was very nice and took good care of us. cant wait to return to Kauai!
