Nice place to stay

After some difficulties with reservation the front desk manager made it right. Used points for the stay but was charged for it also. Rather upsetting and hopefully in a few days I will have my credit back. Location is good for traveling to either end of the island. Traffic is horrific. Sunday when it rained was the worst. I’ll be back next week for work and all will be good. Easy to walk to Kapaa for dinner. Some great restaurants there. Monico and NOM.

Updated review: I posted my review and wanted to add the comments from their staff to be clear. Let me start by qualifying my review:I am a former travel agent and Human Resource manager, I travel often and I have written nearly 900 reviews in the last few years. In that number I have given only a handful or terrible ratings as I only give them where I feel that they are warranted. I choose places to visit that have great reviews. I have never had as many issues with a trip! We traveled over 12hrs on a plane and spend $1500 a plane ticket. Hawaii is a destination and special trip. Location:oceanfront, this property is surrounded by a public park, so you will watch people and cars between you and the ocean and may find homeless people camping on the beach and trying to enter the hotel as we did. I booked this resort on Hilton.com and had glitches with what was booked and confirmed. I called the resort promptly to receive 2 oceanfront rooms at the same rate as I had booked it. The person that I spoke with was kind, she asked that I call back the next week as she had no availability for what I booked. I called the next week and spoke to her and then the reservation manager. I found the reservation manager to be a poor listener, rude and curt. I then spoke to the general manager who assured me that the issue would be resolved and we would get the rooms and rate that we reserved. I called the day prior to check in to insure our reservation. I was assured that all was set. We stopped by the hotel at 10am the morning of our reservation to confirm our room assignment, and to check in. The front desk person checked us in and assigned our rooms; next to one another and on a high floor. She suggested after checking us in that we go enjoy the island and to return anytime after 3pm as the rooms were assigned and being cleaned. We returned at 6:30 that evening and the agent was gone and the front desk knew nothing of our room assignments and had given our rooms away. We spent 30 minutes as they looked for rooms since they were are full occupancy. One of the rooms had no cell or internet service. The rooms were not on a high floor, not side by side, and didn't; have 2 queen beds. They were on different floors on different sides of the building! I recognize that you cannot choose location, but we were checked in, and assigned. They had no rooms left with 2 queen beds! I spoke with the manager the next day. He admitted that he dropped the ball, that they gave our rooms away, he "owned it" and had staffing and property issues. He offered to reduce the rate, I reminded him that we stay with Hilton at least 12 times a year as they back things with Hilton Guarantee. I called Hilton while we were staying there and confirmed that this would qualify for their guarantee. They offered to open a case, I asked that I work with manager first before we left. At check out the general manager was not in yet and we were billed. The front desk agreed that we should not have been and suspended the charge. I asked him to have the manager call me if there were any issues with full credit under the Hilton guarantee. I got no calls or email response from the manager. I called Hilton and they opened a case. They closed the case when the manager responded to them that he had spoken to me and I was content and to close the case (not true). I called again and they opened another case and made things right, they offered a refund. When I didn't receive the refund check I called corporate again, they said that the local manager stated that I had willingly accepted a rate reduction and I was content (not true)and a refund was not possible and denied them issuing the refund. It has taken me a month and over 5 phone calls and emails to the CEO, executive staff, property owner and district manger to undo the untruths. I am shocked at the amount of prearranging with the property management staff and they admittedly failed. I question how long this property will be in the Hilton brand in light of their issues. I will not even detail the staff that I found rude and having to ask for "loaded fries" to be remade 3 times,no drink refills, and the bugs that I collected, no wifi and cell service in the room. The local property did not support the brand guarantee, and didn't refund my money. They blocked corporate refunding it multiple times. Perhaps in light of these issues corporate will educate them on their brand guarantee, and it's expectations to guests. My review is a reflection of the property and staff, not the brand. Hilton is FANTASTIC and back their guarantee! It is unfortunate that I did not see the other"terrible" reviews from the last 6 mos. prior to my booking and see that have no response from management. It appears that the management only responds to the positive reviews. There is a very nice hotel down the street.

Not up to Hilton standards

Hilton took over an older property and did not perform necessary upgrades/fixes. During rain there were NUMEROUS roof leaks. Elevators were old and felt ready to die. rooms were Spartan, bare minimum, especially bath. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but could not make up for a poor facility.I have been a Hilton Honors member for 15+ years and usually stay at Garden Inns. This was the worst (and most expensive).

Valentine's in Kauai

Great stay at a comfortable, recently renovated property. From check-in with Rhonda, to breakfast buffet served by Leroy, everyone was super attentive and friendly. If we needed anything, our requested was answered promptly.Excellent location for hiking, dining and hiking!

Pretty but Basic

this property has a wonderful welcoming lobby. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean. The rooms unfortunately do not have a lanai unless you are on ground floor. This was disappointing. pool area is nice, pools are small.Strange - they have a wonderful large bar and your back faces the view. food is decent. we had fish tacos at the bar and they were good.
