There are the good guys and there are the ones with issues. Not willing to comment specifically, however, there are some passive aggressiveness vibes by one of the staff and there​ are some staff that just don't have a clue about customer service. There are also ones made of gold and for that we are grateful. Thankful also for the engaging artisit musician who brings the aloha atmosphere alive.

Vacation

Upon arriving we were greeted by smiling Danielle, Jennie at check in. They were very friendly, and helped us with any questions. Breakfast with Leroy was always great. Another smiling employee. We had 8 family members, and nothing but positive feedback from all of them. This hotel has had a couple other owners. While it does need some updates, it's a great location, and has a nice beach, which is very kid friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

Great staff, perfect location

This hotel was a great place to stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a very convenient location - 10 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from Poipu or Hanalei. We had a great breakfast and welcome Mai Tais (the bar tenders were super friendly). I would definitely recommend this hotel - we will be back!

Very central location to lots of activities on Kauai.

Parking is a bit of a problem but overall this hotel provided good service and good value. The breakfast menu was a bit expensive for what you received. Would be better with lower prices options and not so much food. Pools were nice and the hot tub was actually hot which is not usually the case for hotel spas. It was a great relaxing hot tub. Adjacent to a small beach with a breakwater that shielded the larger waves. Great for small children. Not much for snorkeling here or on the whole island for that matter. If you want great snorkeling and lots of fish go to the big Island near Kona.

Excells at being Average!

As a long time Hilton Guest (27+ years) I have recently had some less than optimal experiences with Hilton Properties. In this case, it wasn't so much what the property or staff did wrong, for the most part the staff was courteous. It really is more about the property itself; what I consider a lack of effort to create a nice experience for guests.Lets start with the grounds. When in Hawaii; particularly on this very wet island; you tend to expect tropical foliage. Although there were plants scattered throughout the property, in many cases (particularly in the pond behind the open air lobby) they were in bad bad shape, oddly dry; and in some cases appeared dead! Lets talk about the Lobby bar/Restaurant. Your "resort fee" does entitle you to two Mai-Tai's (which we couldn't bring ourselves to use; mostly because the bar area is so completely devoid of any character at all). You've got a tall bar, that would be so easy to spruce up with some Tiki Goodies, or Hawaii Themed design elements or even art work. Its a blank wall with some tall shelves and a bit of alcohol. $100 worth of design effort would make a world of difference. When I asked a bartender about it, she just shrugged her shoulders.The Pool area; really just so very sad. Steps away from the pool was a seemingly long shuttered outdoor bar; that faced the ocean about 100 yards away. Why on earth was this shuttered? It would have been a fabulous spot to sit and watch the waves, enjoy a cocktail. The Buffet; sigh... you do get what you pay for I think, but at $22, you expect perhaps a bit better than the not very fresh fruit and overall just bland offerings presented.Its a hotel that seems happy to be just a place to sleep. As the only Hilton Property on the island, you might assume they would do all they can to maximize the appeal of their property. A few seemingly doable fixes: Landscaping, livening up a Drab Lobby Bar, possibly opening up the Pool Bar..... After 3 days of this; we left and moved to another much nicer Marriott Property a few miles away. Perplexing!
