Koloa Landing Resort
- What's Included
Our family of four stayed in a one bedroom condo in building 8, facing the ocean. This is a sprawling property in a great location. Overall our experience was very good. We always stay at Marriott properties and when comparing this resort to others, we give it a "very good".Notes- Check in was easy and they present leis to the guests, which is a nice Hawaiian touch.Ask for an upgrade if you're a Marriott rewards member. Also, request a late check out if needed and if they can accommodate you, they will. We found Koloa Landing to be very generous with this! The resort feels modern and the "rooms" are very well appointed. They recently completed their large main pool and they did a great job! Only word of caution, when those signs say the ground is slippery, they mean it!! They have a lot of lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. It never felt over-crowded to us.They only clean rooms every third day, according to the front desk staff. We didn't know this while we were staying there. They do "towels and trash" daily (unless they forget to empty it like they did us one of the days). This isn't my time share, I felt I was at a resort and would have liked my room tidied daily. With that said, when we encountered the cleaning staff, they were very nice. Each unit has a washer and dryer. That is so helpful with a beach vacation! They provide the laundry detergent too. I just packed a few dryer sheets and it made packing enough clothes and swimsuits so much easier. This resort faces the ocean (well some of the buildings), but there are houses and a road between it and the ocean. There is not a beach with this resort. It's recommended to use Poipu Beach or "walk to the Sheraton". The walk there is fine, the sandy, wet walk back is miserable. Just drive to Poipu Beach (clean, uncrowded, restroom facilities, sandwich shop across the street). We did not eat at the restaurant on site, but did go to their Luau. The food was excellent at it. (If you want to use your kitchen, go to Big Save grocery to pick up anything you need.)I think the pool area staff needs some retraining in hospitality. Neither the towel hut nor the slide monitors were cheerful or pleasant. They were consistently grumpy to my kids. The fold out couch mattress was essentially a box spring. It was really uncomfortable for our kids. It's a Queen-sized bed. The resort's solution was to bring us three duvets to pile on top of the awful mattress. I think a new purchase of mattresses is in order. Overall, we had a very good stay at the Koloa Landing. It's a beautiful property.
What a wonderful new Marriott property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The grounds and facilities are immaculate and new. The pool was wonderfully laid out and provided enough space to hideaway or take a quick slide. There are plenty of hot tubs, even an adult pool. We rarely sat next to anyone and noticed staff was very attentive to cleanliness. The location is great as its walkable to two shopping destinations for a quick breakfast or nice stroll to dinner. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and were surprised with a champagne bottle courtesy of the manager. We enjoyed food and drinks on the property but also felt like location was walkable to other places for dinner. The room was efficient, spacious and beautiful. We asked for an ocean front and got a room with a beautiful view.
We recently stayed two nights over a weekend in a studio unit at Koloa Landing Resort. The room was clean, comfortable, modern, and more than adequately equipped (microwave, dishes, tea kettle, small stove and fridge, plus the usual HDTV, in-room safe, iron, hair dryer, etc.). We were in a ground floor unit in Building 10, with all the numerous buildings that make up the resort surrounding a large swimming pool and recreational/bar area. Although the resort had a high occupancy while we were there, and families were enjoying the swimming pool (multi-level with slides included) into the evening hours, our room was still very quiet. The location of the resort is great, with Poipu beaches, Spouting Horn, the Shops at Kukui'ula, and Koloa just minutes away.We didn't eat at any of the resort's on-premises restaurants.Overall, we'd definitely return to Koloa Landing when visiting the Garden Isle!
I'd recommend this resort over any on Kauai. The staff throughout the resort was very friendly and hospitable. Perfect location on the sunny side of island. Walking distance or short driving to everything a tourist needs. Great bar & restaurant. Convenient on site store for everyday needs. We loved our time here and will return again some day.
This was what I got after a long day. I come back to my room getting cleaned by a child. I stayed here with my family for 5 days then get 2 more nights and come back to this. Also it is not a beach resort it's stated as one but it's not
