Koloa Landing Resort
- What's Included
The property is undergoing some major renovations and upgrades that when once completed will result in it being rated as a 4.5 or maybe even a 5 star resort. I decided to take advantage of their "construction special" as I was not looking for a 5 star resort experience but still wanted to stay at a nicer property. I rented a car during my stay so I didn't need a property with it's own restaurant and so on. It is also located in Poipu which is on the drier side of the island. When I arrived I was upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa which had an ocean view but overlooked the construction of the new pool. The villa itself was incredibly spacious with a luxurious bathroom featuring one of the deepest, longest soaking bathtubs I had ever seen. The walk-in shower was also huge with a rain head shower head. The king size bed was very comfy as well. It also had a queen size pull out couch as well. The kitchen was a cooks dream with a huge refrigerator and a double door freezer with built in ice maker and the appliances one would expect including a blender. It also had a 1/2 bath with wash/dr. The construction didn't bother me as the crew was very quiet in the morning and the really loud machines didn't start up until after 9:00am which by that time I was up and heading out for the day with afternoons spent by the pool. The crew shut down just before the sun sat around 5:30pmish. As I was researching the property on Trip Advisor I saw some comments about housekeeping. To clarify unless you choose to upgrade and pay for a "full" housekeeping service (which I do not recommend) your housekeeper will drop by once a day to give you fresh towels, empty the garbage and recycling and leave you new amenities if needed (ex. Shampoo). If you are out when they arrive they will also make your bed. I think they will also wipe down the bathroom every few days if needed. I am neat and tidy by nature so there wasn't much for my housekeeper to do beyond that to meet my needs. However, I am confident that if I needed something extra done all I had to do was ask my housekeeper (Sharon) and she would have happily done whatever I asked such as cleaning up a spill or whatever (within reason of course). If you will be out most of the day just leave your housekeeper a note with a nice tip and they will happily accommodate. They want their guests happy as they want you to come back and recommend them to others. If housekeeping is important to you ask specific details before you book.
I spent three separate night here within the past week and received three different levels of service. The first night, although I loved the villa, I really wasn't that impressed with cleaning. The fridge was dirty, there was hair in the shower , no paper towels, trash in the bin and stains on the sheets. The second visit was absolutely wonderful!!! We were given a corner unit which provided so much more room and a beautiful view. I left word to double check for cleanliness and was surprised there were no issues! We even received a plate of fruit in the fridge! The third visit was just wrong! The villa was significantly tinier than the others even thought it was the same price. It was moderately cleaned BUT there were no welcome notes or bag/water like there were for the other visits and there were towels missing from the bathroom!!!! Additionally, please do not expect a robe (like on the site) or a welcome lei...receiving a lei really depends on who's checking you in. My stay was nice and peaceful however I do wish there was more consistency on the housekeeping side because the villas are absolutely gorgeous!
I wouldn't recommend this resort again. It has lost its appeal. Staff isn't knowledgeable about where to dine & such. You are nickel & dimmed--2 towels for your entire stay?? Pools are anything but relaxing. It has become a fairground for young families with lots of screaming kids.
Ended up at the Koloa Landing as part of a destination wedding. Very good place, solid fun, one bedroom villas are quite nice for sure. Ended up using the on site market for snacks and drinks and ate meals elsewhere.Rooms were clean, the pool and jacuzzi were fine. The employees at the desk were OK but not over the top in terms of helpfulness; maybe due to being tired? Not sure. While comfortable and good in terms of a place to stay with a stunning view, probably would examine other options if we came back to this area. Might return here, but need to evaluate versus the competition.
We stayed for a week on 11/18/16. The resort was very nice. The construction is very noticeable but that should be done. Y the first of the year. The staff was very friendly. The pools and spas are just ok, but as soon as the new pool is done, it will be even that much better. There's. O direct beach access so you'll have to drive or walk about a half mile to the closest beach. There are no restaurants on site but there's plenty of food lees than a mile away. Minus the pools and construction, this place is comparable to the luxury of the grand Hyatt, for half the price
