Koloa Landing Resort
- What's Included
Two Golfing buddies along with myself decided to make a stop on the "Garden Island", Kauai for some pre-conference R&R with a couple of rounds of golf. With our conference on Maui, we were so pleased that we choose to visit Kauai and the Koloa Landing Resort! What I am left with is the overwhelming impression of the Aloha Spirit exhibited by the staff from start to finish. All smiles and hospitality all of the time. We were so pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the staff. The family friendly atmosphere was perfect as were the pool facilities. Our rooms were spacious with great beds... really comfortable beds... We played at two area golf courses and both were scenic and in great condition. Among the islands, Kauai stands alone with its lush tropical environment. It's what Hawaii should be... One thing that I thought was of particular benefit was that there is a town and shopping area near by that has really good restaurant choices. I'm not one to be cooped up on a resort property, never leaving to see the local color. I recommend this place to couples, families and anyone who wants a good deal in a great location.
Currently in the middle of our 7 night stay. As lifetime platinum members we were able to get upgraded to a one bedroom villa. Villa is large and beautifully decorated. Especially like that the shower and tub are separate and each has a large vanity. The extra vanity area helps when all four of us are getting ready to go out, especially since my seventeen year old daughter can take awhile to get ready. Main pool is large and never seems crowded. Enjoying the pool cabanas with comfortable seating, ceiling fan, and tv. The fitness center has plenty of workout equipment. Received coupon for two free Mai Tai's when we checked in also received list of weekly activities. We had to get an item from home mailed here, the staff were very helpful and item was delivered to the room when it arrived. There are two shopping plazas close by with several different restaurants. Beach is about 10-15 minute walk. All staff have been friendly and helpful. Special thank you to Devin for all his help with pre arrival questions and cabana rental. We are having a fantastic time, looking forward to enjoy our last few days.Lisa
My wife and i stayed at the Koloa Landing resort for a week in June, and it really did live up to it's expectations. If you've read negative reviews about the resort, do not get discouraged because this place is honestly great. We were initially worried about all the reviews about construction and whatnot, but let me put this at rest. CONSTRUCTION IS OVER, and it was well worth it. The pool is IMMACULATE!PROSThe new improvements and updates they've made to the hotel, and swimming pools are absolutely amazing. There are so many pools in this hotel, some even with waterfalls, slides and a cave it's unbelievable. The staff and customer service is fantastic, always going out of their way to make sure you're satisfied. I have to give huge shout outs to the front desk employees, they were very helpful and knowledge throughout our entire stay. Vince from the hotel is absolutely amazing He helped us so much from learning about places to visit, to places to eat, and was a friendly, courteous and wonderful person from the beginning of our stay until the end. Also, Kraig from Enterprise (you definitely need a car in Kauai - enterprise is located IN the hotel) was extremely helpful. He would recommend restaurants for us every night that ALWAYS produced. Very knowledgable, very kind and very helpful in all of his suggestions. Just a great person to meet, very thankful of that. The location is great -- at first we were considering staying in the north end of the island, but once we got there we realized we made the right decision by station in Koloa. You can easily drive to the north end in about an hour, and to top it off... the Koloa/Poipu area is much sunnier than anywhere else on the island. (FYI: it rains ALOT in the north end)The rooms are clean, very big, and even have kitchenettes/kitchens for you to make food during your stay. We found the island to be pretty expensive, so this was helpful for a quick breakfast or lunch before hitting the millions of beaches or hikes during our stay. CONSNot necessarily a con really but, it would be fantastic if the main lobby area had a bar to grab a drink at times. It was open sometimes, but not usually, but it would just be nice as another place to grab a drink during the day or after the restaurant closed in the evening. That's the only thing I can think of lol, so obviously this hotel is good.
My husband, son and I stayed here for 7 days and thoroughly enjoyed the pool area as well as the room. Everything was clean, modern and beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive to all our needs (all of them were very kind). We would go to the cove right across the street and see turtles every morning and every evening feeding on the rocks by the water. We would definitely stay here again!!!
We just spent 3 nights in a one bedroom suite at Koloa Landing after spending a week at the Marriott Waiohai also in Poipu, and following Koloa Landing we spent an additional 6 nights at the Marriott Waikoloa on the big island. Between the 3, I'd put Koloa Landing in the middle. The room was very well appointed and with top notch amenities. I love the way the bathroom is split between the dressing area and toilet/shower. Great set up for sharing. I also loved the large double door opening to the balcony. The kitchen is very large and roomy for the size of the unit with lots of storage. Cons: the sofa bed mattress was circa 70's. I was very surprised it was so poor with all of the other high quality appointments. Both of the other Marriotts have memory foam mattresses. We were fortunate and had a pool view room, however it did also look over the restaurant roof. It seems like there are a lot of rooms that would have not so good of views at this resort, beware and ask for what you want. Other resort features: the pool is very nice but make sure you are near the main pool. The resort is HUGE and lots of buildings are a far walk to the main pool. They have nice cabanas for rent $100 a day. Also beware, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach at the Sheraton and you will not have privileges to use their chairs so you must bring your own. Also, be aware what other reviewers have said there is a $32 / day resort fee charge.
