Koloa Landing Resort
- What's Included
We stayed at Koloa Landing Resort for 6 nights. Absolutely beautiful property. The 2 bedroom villa was perfect for our family. Large balcony overlooking one of the pools was great for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. The grand kids loved the pools and going to a couple of beaches close by. Would love to return one day.
Very beautiful resort excellent restaurant no beach front which I missed otherwise very nice resort! The pools were great u could walk to ocean but lava rock was all the beach! Nice lanai our rooster was respectful he didn’t crow at sunrise! Would stay again!
We were very much looking forward to our mid-October stay at Koloa Landing after reading all the great reviews. Our experience was mostly average, and the resort seemed to fall short in a few places in our opinion. Check in time is officially 4pm. We arrived about two hours early and the one-bedroom suite we reserved was not ready, so we left to do some errands and came back around 3:30. Suite still was not ready. We just milled around the lobby area and saw many other families checking in and getting their keys. At 4pm sharp, we got a text that our room was ready. The agent checking us in appeared very rushed, I kept looking behind me thinking a line was forming, but no, it was just us. Not exactly the welcome we were expecting, however they did give us a complimentary upgrade to a 2-bed, 2-bath suite, which was very nice to have the bonus of a second bathroom. The second bedroom did not get used, but it is very small with what I believe was a queen bed. Would be acceptable for a child, but not for an adult couple. Not sure if this upgrade was due to our SPG Gold status, or the fact that we tried to check in twice before official check in time, but either way, it was very much appreciated. We were assigned to building number 2, top floor. It was on the outskirts of the property and we had a view of one of the smaller pools. The suite itself was gorgeous and had all the comforts of home. Parking was plentiful, able to park directly outside our entry every day.Housekeeping was mostly good. They are supposed to come every day to empty trash, refresh towels and do a full clean every third day. They did skip us entirely one day, and I'm not sure we ever got a FULL clean, but we clean up after ourselves so there was nothing much for them to do anyway. This place would do so well to have a full fine-dining restaurant onsite. What they have is basically a poolside grill which has a very small menu and show service. Ate breakfast there twice during our week long stay and had the same experience both times. Food is fine, but with so many options in the area I recommend venturing out for your meals.Fitness center was nice, clean, good variety of equipment. Never seemed too crowded. We would get there between 6 - 7am.Main pool was nice, very family friendly. If you are a couple, like us, you may be turned off by all the kids. I don't think any of the pools had areas deeper than 3 to 4 feet, so very shallow. Service around the main pools was hit or miss. Service at the actual pool bar was better. Get the lilikoi margarita, it's the best! The adult pool is very small, very cold, and doesn't get a lot of sun. We did use it one day and we were the only ones there. We did not visit the other family pool, I think they refer to it as the lagoon pool. As others have mentioned, there is a wristband policy, on your first day you get them and need them to exchange towels. Occasionally there would be someone checking around the pool if you were wearing them. Didn't care much for this method of towel service.Didn't have time to use the spa, but their menu had a nice offering of services. The walk to the beach is easy enough. Alternatively you can drive to many other nearby beaches, which I can see being especially the case for families with strollers, bags, etc. This is a large property and very spread out. I don't know to what capacity they were booked at during our stay, but it never appeared to be crowded. We visit Kauai once a year, and we might stay here again. Getting the upgrade was a big plus, but still conflicted with the areas of disappointment. Overall the resort had more of a family friendly timeshare vibe than the luxury resort experience we have had elsewhere.
My husband and I frequent Kauai. We have watched from the beginning the development of Koloa Landing. The staff has always been very accommodating in meeting our needs (especially Jessica and Sydney). It's obvious they enjoy their jobs, and are very good at what they do. We've seen them develop their staff, and have seen their commitment to their jobs. The resort has always been beautiful and comfortable. It's been fun to watch the expansion and the development of the owner's goals being met. It has developed into a very special place. The location is perfect. Being on the south shore allows for easy access when you want to venture out to other parts of the island. Being close to the shops at Kukuiula is where you will find great shopping and restaurants. Also, eating at HoloHolo at the resort offers a variety of great meals. We always look forward to staying at the resort. It is a very special getaway. Now that the grounds are completed, it offers much to couples or families. Love the staff and love this place!! Sharon
We have been coming to Koloa Landing every year since 2013. We celebrate our child’s birthday and watch the Kauai sunset with a shaved ice “cake”. This resort feels like our home away from home. We look for Jessica’s smiling face every year, and all the other same Koloa Landing employees. This year when we arrived we did not see Jessica, and we were heart broken. We finally saw her our third day and got a chance to reconnect. She has witnessed our child growing up every year, and helps celebrate his birthday stay. We have seen all the stages of the resort development, from red dirt to the beautiful swimming lagoons with waterfalls. There is an adult only pool with a waterfall and jacuzzi, a big lagoon pool with a kiddie pool and jacuzzi, and the “big” pool(infinity pool with jacuzzi, pool with two water slides, giant pool with waterfall, large kiddie pool with splash pad, and two jacuzzis). The condo is amazing with a peaceful lanai. We love it here and plan on celebrating futurebirthdays. Thank you Jessica for making our stay so special for us and our child!
