Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation
- What's Included
I'm speechless! Paradise. We can cook for ourselves in our rented condo. Close to shops, restaurants, beaches, fitness classes and it's quiet. 👏🏻🌴 Sunsets are beautiful. Good parking at Kiahuna Plantation.Easy island to drive and explore.Friendly guests and staff. Gardens and lawns are lush and well maintained. We will return.
Our family stayed at the Kiahuna Plantation after the Christmas holiday for a week during our first trip to Hawaii. We thoroughly enjoyed the Kiahuna property. The landscape and gardens are lovely with broad canopy trees and beautiful cactus gardens. We stayed in Unit 308 which was clean and very comfortable and met all our needs. It was a short walk to the beach. We loved having three different beach choices nearby - one for swimming, one for snorkeling and one for surfing. During our stay, we got to see both a monk seal and giant green turtles that were resting on the beach. The resort staff was exceptionally helpful - especially when we realized we had booked for a day later than our arrival. The concierge also was invaluable for helping us understand all our options and make good decisions about activities for the week. There is a plethora of restaurants nearby and we enjoyed Keokis Paradise across the street and the Dolphin down the road. We also ate breakfast and several lunches in our condo overlooking the beautiful cactus garden. Some of our favorite days were days spent swimming at the beach, hiking the breathtaking Maha'ulepu trail on the south shore to Gillians beach and exploring the Makauwahi Cave, an open door helicopter tour to really see all of Kauai and of course New Years Eve fireworks on the Poipu Beach. Would definitely recommend this and go back!
location - good beach, not as rainy as other parts of the the island, close to restaurants, you will need a car to get around though and if you are arriving after dark make sure you know where you are going as the area is a dark sky community and the signs are hard to readcheck in - the desk is manned 24-7. we were concerned as our flight was delayed and we didnt arrive until 1 am. condo - we had a group of six and were hoping to have a two bedroom condo and a one bedroom condo but ended up with 3 one bedroom royal garden condos - with two condos in one building and the the third in the next building. each condo was decorated slightly differently but all had a king bed and the same dishes etc. we used one condo for common cooking and eating as it had a table for six while the other two did not. the stove was about 25 years old and you could not read the dial as the numbers were worn off. the knifes were dull but other than that it was well equipped for our needs. the beds were comfortable and extra pillows and blankets were providedthe buildings were 3 story with outside corridors, stairs and entrances. one condo was on the top floor inside location but in a building close to the main road - traffic was a bit noisy in the morning but you did not have anyone over top of you. another condo was a inside second floor further back from the room and was not noisy and the last condo was on the main floor outside and wasnt noisy and as a bonus has shutters in the kitchen wall that provided a nice cooling breeze. you should be aware that there is no glass in the windows in the condo - there are screens and louvered shutters - so if you want absolute quiet this may not be the place for youwifi was free and the strength goodbbqs were scattered around the property for the guests to use and were cleaned dailypool and exercise equipment were located at the far end of the complex and across the roadthe beach was great for swimming and snorkeling. beach towels and chairs were free. you could also arrange surfing lessons at the beach shackwe were unable to eat at the onsite restaurant as it was booked for weddings.we did use the concierge - there are several - Gail was excellentnote check out is at 11 am and if you want to stay later you will have to pay the full day rate - they do have a hospitality suite that you can book for a specific one hour slot for a late check out
The Kiahuna Plantation Resort exceeded our expectations as I had become nervous in the weeks leading up to our trip after reading some reviews. Our one-bedroom condo was close to the road, however the noise was never an issue as it's a relatively quiet road after 6 or 7pm. The beach is gorgeous with waves perfect for beginner surfing or boogey-boarding. We have a 3 yr old and he happily played in the soft sand and waves for hours on end. It's a 2 min drive or 15 min walk to Poipu beach park and directly across the street is a strip mall with restaurants, shops, etc. Our condo was basic and somewhat updated but served our needs perfectly well as it was clean, spacious with a comfortable king bed. The pool area is dated and the pool-side cafe was not functional, but our son loved the water slide and the shallow entry part of the pool is great for young children. The on-site restaurant serves up some excellent cocktails and our ahi was perfectly cooked. We would absolutely go back.
Beautiful grounds, convenient less rainy location than other places on the island. The unit we rented was privately owned and furnished by the owners. It was reasonable well appointed but not having a cutting board in the kitchen (understandable for hygienic reasons but...) was really awkward but other than that it had everything we needed. The interior had some deferred maintenance but the exteriors of the buildings were in excellent condition. If you are looking for the pool, it is across the street, a little inconvenient. The shopping center across the street had a good selection of restaurants and shops for basically your every need. Did not try the restaurant at the Resort, so no opinion there.
