Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation
- What's Included
We stayed at bldg 16 #90 condo and it was average. No enough utensils for one thing, no flipper for eggs, toaster didn't work well (old).they had knives but not a sharp one in the place. Far away from what beach we did have, it was very small, couldn't sit on it. if you wanted to swim or snorkel, had to go to Poipu beach which was great but had to drive if you were a person that couldn't walk aways. No air conditioning and it was hot and humid. One of the TV's in one bedroom wasn't even hooked up and they said it was for DVD's and games but yet no DVD player etc. They said partial ocean view they weren't kidding one little area off in a distance you could see the ocean.
We had a wonderful stay in Kauai and absolutely fell in love with the place. We stayed in a self contained 1 bedroom unit at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort by outrigger. What an awesome place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, a short walk to the waters edge at the beautiful Poipu beach, plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a great base for exploring the whole island. 7 nights here was not enough. Our room was lovely and quiet and we felt right at home. This was our first holiday with our new baby and we loved every minute of it. Will definitely visit again.
We stayed for 10 days in a one bedroom water view. Our unit was further back from the water than we had liked, as are the majority of the condos here. Our kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed to cook all meals if you want. There is a full sized coffee pot. There are several grills on the property as well. The bathroom was stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a hair dryer and a curling iron. There are two spa bathrobes in the closet as well as a safe. There was no cooler for day trips but we bought a cooler bag at Costco and left it for the next guests to use. There was insect repellant and sunscreen left by previous guests. We paid it forward and replaced what we had used. The water pressure in the shower was ok. Our only big complaint is we found the bed very hard. We woke up with back pain every day, never really adjusted to the bed. I found the sofa more comfortable and slept there a few nights. There is a laundry room on the property, $2.50 each to wash and dry. The ceiling fans and floor fan helped keep us cool. The lanai was spacious and semi private. All in all we enjoyed our stay other than the bed!
Located next to our usual destination in Poipu, the Koa Kea, this was the next best choice for us when considering accommodating our 3 couple group. More affordable and sharing the same great beach, what the place lacked in amenities it more than made up for with it's lovely grounds and landscaping. The condos are somewhat tired and a little drab but people don't spend much time in their rooms in Hawaii. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen handy. We could double-up with my son and his sig-other on the sofabed, my daughter and her spouse in a separate suite and come in at less than half what it would have cost at the Koa Kea.
Stayed in building 34 in late February, 2017. Our stay was awesome and we will be coming back. Having a full kitchen, living room, bedrooms, etc was fantastic. Will break down our great visit. Location: A+Our building had a straight shot view of the beach. So glad we got the ocean view. Sitting on our lanai with that great view was so worth it. Location overall is really good. Walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and of course, easy walk to the beach!Check in and staff: A+Checkin was quick and painless. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping staff was efficient and non-instrusive. We really didn't have any problems or needs from the staff. Our condo: ABeds were comfy and it was nice having rooms and a sleeper couch. All kitchen appliances worked great. Condo was clean and well kept. Dated? Yes. But not uncomfortably so. Carpet was a little worn from so many people walking through with bare feet I'm sure, no big deal. Bathrooms were nice, clean, and everything worked. Ocean view was not a lie - glad we got it. Would stay here again and again.Intangibles: AWell manicured lawns and taken care of gardens. Fountains and beautiful trees. BBQ grills for the use of guests. We had loud little kids next door that we could hear every time they came and went, but could NOT hear once they were in their condo. No disturbances. Our condo had a boogie board, puzzles, and radios/cd players. We didn't use the TVs, but they were flat screens and looked nice.Overall: AWe loved this place. Great for families. Our kids are 13, 17, and 19 and were very happy. FANTASTIC WIFI!!!! This is a big deal. It was really good. Kids could watch YouTube at night, I uploaded and downloaded audio for my podcast, etc. It was great to walk across the street to Whalers store, Starbucks, Puka Dogs, etc. Short walk to Brennekke's. Easy drive to other shopping, restaurants, and parts of the island. Highly recommend!
