Outrigger Waipouli Beach
- What's Included
We stayed the first two weeks of November, booked thru Kauai Calls. They were wonderful. Answered the few questions we had very promptly. Stayed in G206. Wonderful view. Bed very comfortable. Very well supplied. The last night we stayed there they were working in the condo above us all night long. Must have been doing some floor work. My only suggestion is that they not work at night and at least start early in the morning. But loved the condo and restaurant was excellent, pricey but excellent. Wonderful lanai. One suggestion for management or owners association. Would be good to have signs posted that the beautiful lawn and plant area is not a playground . People were playing football using the entire garden area below our condo. Also changed a babies diaper in the middle of the well kept grassy area.
Spent a week here in a privately owned condo that was absolutely perfect. Prior to leaving my review, as always, I peeked at a few others so as not to be annoyingly repetitive. Had to almost laugh at the woman who complained about e-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g (including the size of the parking spaces) - and noted she was there when I was. Glad I didn't run into her and hope I never do whenever I travel. Eek! And there were rocks in the water. Really. Obviously she is not well travelled and suffers from a delusion she is royalty (yawn). So, daughter, granddaughter (4), and I had a great stay. The two-bedroom/three bath had a glorious ocean view and three lanais. Our safe worked perfectly, our kitchen was fully and totally equipped, a closet included beach chairs, surf- and boogie boards, fins, masks and goggles, sun hats. My bath had double sinks and a square tub (not-jetted) and toilet. The powder room contained a spacious, shower, sink and toilet. My daughter's room (queen bed/superior grade pillows/comfortable mattress/luxurious linens [same as mine except my bed was a double], and we had a total of six sets of towels (which we laundered in the hidden washer and dryer in the condo). The pool area was immaculate, chairs and tables in abundance, pool towels never an issue, tube noodles provided for kids, restaurant-bar service and restroom adjacent, kiddie pools, whirlpools, adult pool, slides and a lazy river. It was disappointing the lazy river had scant current and inflatables were not allowed but it did not put a damper on our good time. Did enjoy the absolute best-ever massage. EVER! Ask for Joseph! The establishment adds a 20% gratuity and I hate that policy before having even had the service but certainly understand why they do it - and even tipped afterwards anyhow.Staying on this side of the island was wonderful and we drove from end to end visiting many beaches, hiking, talking to locals, a lighthouse, pier, swinging bridge, hula show, shopping and having all the shave ice we could enjoy.Fabulous place and fabulous time. Mahalo and Aloha!
Firstly, I'd like to state that I usually don't rate hotels poorly. This might be the only time, since what was advertised was not what was received. When I booked this on booking.com, it did not clearly say that there was a cancellation penalty. Usually, there is a notification in red stating this, but this hotel had it under "Special Conditions," where you have to click a question mark to find. I've booked many times with Booking.com and this hidden penalty was not in accordance with the rest of the site. In my opinion, very deceptive. They also add about $300 in room cleaning fees on top of the price that they advertise, again very deceptive. If you want garbage taken out, your sheets and towels changed, you have to pay over $100 additional! And a resort fee! For what?! This place is garbage! When we were checking in, we pulled up into the front and there was no bell team to meet you and help with your bags. The property is really outdated--my family commented how bad this place looked before we got in. You have to enter a combination to get into the pool area (dingy and rusty) and to your room. You have to put your name down when you get beach towels and return them or else, you will pay a $25 per towel fee (really, $25?). By comparison, we stayed at the Marriott in Wailea and they gave us towels when we went to the beach, no questions asked. They also offered blankets when they learned we wanted to go up the mountain, without us even asking. This is the service that is sorely missing here, and it is such a disappointment., especially since you expect this at a 4-star property. A 4-star property, we learned, this is not. The room that we booked came with the owner's belongings with a sign that stated, "do not touch!" The parking spaces were really tiny. My car barely fit and had to squeeze out of the car if there were other parked cars next to us. The pool was plain, and nothing special. I should've known that this property would be terrible when they hold your money hostage many months in advance of your trip (I booked in June and stayed in November). Again, by comparison, Marriott allows you to cancel up to three weeks before your stay. The purpose of that has to be to steal from unsuspecting customers: either they pay the cancellation fee and the resort gets money for nothing (50%), or they stay at a garbage hotel. At most this property is a 2-star. I will never book with Outrigger, ever, and this will be the last time I will ever book with booking.com
Overview: There were four of us that stayed at the condo and we booked a room with a pool view (worth it). We were on a higher floor in building D, which was a good location. The resort was about 15 minutes from the airport and about 40 - 60 minutes from the different sites/hikes we explored while there. There was a grocery store and McDonalds within walking distance (across the street) from the resort, which was convenient. There were also a few restaurants within a 5 minute drive.Room: The condo had a great kitchen with supplies leftover from previous guests. It came with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. We ended up making breakfast there every morning because it was convenient and had the amenities we needed. There was a lanai in each room (2 rooms). Each room had a connecting bathroom, which was great for privacy. The shower we in our bathroom had mold, which took away from the experience. There was plenty of space for clothes and it was quiet where we were situated. The rooms were on the darker side and there were no batteries in the safe. We ended up taking batteries out of the remote controls. Gym: The gym was on the smaller side but it had what we needed and offered views to the pool. It didn't get crowded in there but there is limited cardio equipment. It does not open until 6 am and the front desk doesn't open until 7 am so there was no one around to let us in earlier. The doors are locked with keypads (as is the pool) so we had to wait until it allowed us in with our passcode. Pool: Each room is allowed 6 towels per day so it was enough for the pool. It wasn't very packed and easy to find lounge chairs. We did not spend much time there because there were a few cloudy days.Beach: There isn't really an area to lay by the beach. Part of it is sectioned off for the seals that come up to sunbathe (cute). The waves are also pretty rough so we ended up driving to other beaches.
When we booked our accommodations we were aware that there would be a $20.00 per day resort fee, and were ok with that, however when we arrived to check in we were informed that there would also be a $220,00 cleaning fee on departure. This fee was hidden from us until we arrived at the property and they already had our money for the room rent. The room was far from clean, and featured a couch that Good Will would have rejected.
