Outrigger Waipouli Beach
- What's Included
Amazing property, would highly recommend this place. The room we had 401 G, was the best in my opinion. Great beachfront as well as beautiful mountain views. The rooms are massive, well appointed and clean. It's just like a home with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The whole property is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The pool is gorgeous and only gets a 4.5 because the water is frigid!!! The beach is pleasant but only good for shallow swimming if your there in winter. Your also only 15 minutes from the airport and almost halfway between other end of the island. I won't stay anywhere else on Kauai.
This resort and location was perfect for us. On East coast of island. Island is only about 72 miles long end to end. Kapaa is right in the middle which makes sight seeing perfect. one day to take in sights to the north shore and another day to drive to Poipu one Waimea canyon. Pool at resort was fantastic. Deepest point 4.5 ft. It is constructed like a roaming river, with water falls, a cave behind one of the falls and gently sloped water slides.. There is a kiddie pool at one end that is all sand. 3 hot tubs. One is for adults only. The grounds and adjoining beach are beautiful. The beach is not really a swimming beach but there are two protected areas that form pools that kids can play/swim in. The Oasis restaurant on site has delicious food. Can be pricey in the evening but really good. Also many restaurants near by.If you want to eat in you can. Unit is just as pictured. High end appliances in kitchen and laundry. Safeway is just across the street as well as a foodland down the street. Groceries on Kauai are EXPENSIVE so be prepared. Potatoes and tomatoes 1.99 a lb and up, ground beef 5.99/6.99 a pound. Spices pricey, take basics from home. They only provided salt and pepper. Safeway has some good buys daily. We got 3 beautiful ribeyes for 25.00 and lobster tail 7oz. 10 bucks. Get a free safe way card for member discounts. Also Costco is on island. I would recommend this resort for everyone. It is well represented in pictures. No ocean view from unit but yard was lovely and excellent view of sleeping giant mountain
We stayed a week at Wiapouli Beach Resort in February 2017. Unit A401 had wonderful views of the water and it was very relaxing to sleep with the sounds of the waves. Unit's furnishings were different than in their promotion photo, and definitely showing wear and tear. The buildings themselves are in real need of a new paint job as it was evident the paint was "sheeting" off, not just peeling. On-site restaurant was nice, but pricey. Location is great for exploring the whole island.
All in all we were very impressed by this resort. There were places that seem dated, i.e. the carpet in all the main areas. But our room was very nice and very comfortable. We were a bit disappointed that the website specifically stated we would have a king size bed and we didn't, but it was extremely comfortable. The grounds are maintained beautifully! The resort does, however, have some pretty over-the-top restrictions on towels, etc but I would not only go back, but would recommend to others as well.
We stayed for twelve nights. Chose the location based on photos and reviews. At one time this may have been a wonderful facilty but in reality it appears to be run down and lacking maintenance. The suite was spacious and had a wonderful ocean and mountain view and at first look seemed awesome. Once settled in and looking around it was a different story. Outside one could see many broken roof tiles and the soffit was falling apart in many places and bits of soffit material were lying in the roof tops. Inside the furniture showed sighns of being well worn and the hide a bed couch was extremely uncomfortable to sit on and sagged significantly in the middle. The elevator worked about two times out of three so I resorted to using the stairs. The security guard told me of multiple break and enters and employee firings in recent months. About two thirds of the way into our stay a major water leak occured in the roof of our building which management claimed needed to be evacuated as a result. We were moved to a similar street but facing the highway, parking lot and shopping mall. Not at all what we had contracted for and with no promise of being able to stay there more than one night as the room had been booked by some one else. There seemed to be little concern that we were there first. Ultimately we got to stay in that room but had to pay the going rate. They did however give us two complementary nights. Not enough for what we had to endure and lose but there it is. On top of all this, as I sat and watched water dripping through the ceiling of my suite, i could find no 24 hour emergency contact number. There was confusion and chaos as guests and owners ran up and down flooded halls looking for assistance. The security guard was useless and it took about an hour for someone from the housing association to show up and shut off the water. Rental management showed up shortly thereafter but not before we called 911 as there was concern that someone might get electrocuted with all of the water running through the structure. Setting aside all of the foregoing the site location is wonderful and general layout very pleasing.
