Plantation Hale Suites
- What's Included
Plantation Hale is a nice place to stay. I usually prefer upgraded suites but, stayed here because our team had booked this place. I did not expect much but, the customer service, Friendly Staff especially from Crystal made this stay a 5 star experience. I see other comments of other customers complaining about there room. I can say this, if they were to let the staff know, I Guarantee that something would have been done to make there stay more pleasurable. Its not a fancy place and the kitchen stove, microwave can be upgraded but, I would prefer to stay somewhere that treats you like a 5 star over a place that treats people like a 2 star. Thumbs up!
First off, I want to mention that I didnt complain to the staff so that was on me. All the staff was very friendly when we interacted. When I did mention the bug issue at check out they seemed to jump on it pretty quick.Pros- its close to the beach but you cant see it. It has 3 pools, dvd and book library and there are some shops and restaurants in walking distance and the staff was nice and friendly. The matresses themselves had covers on them so when I did a bed inspection as I also do, I was comfortable with the outcome.Cons- After traveling 20 hours to get there, our room wasnt ready so we went to get dinner. Come back room was "ready" but not exactly clean. It was like they rushed through it because there was hair in the shower and the fridge, pop cases left in the cabinet, food junk left in the fridge, food left in the disposal which made the room stinky and just an overall feeling of not quiet right. Not much sucks more than working for a year for a vacation and then having to work / do someone elses job once you get there. There wasnt even a broom or anything in the room for me to be able to clean up.I dont mind that it wasnt updated, but the carpet was sticky and I really did not want to sit on the furniture. I also washed the dishes we used before we used them because there wasnt a dishwasher in our room and Im not gonna trust that someone else actually washed them. And unfortunately, to be honest, we did have roaches. I know to expect that in tropical weather, but that doesnt mean I like it or can stay calm when I see one. They were mostly in the bathroom, only one outside of the bathroom. No elevators so be prepared to take heavy bags up the stairs. The glass closet door was heavy and off track so I couldnt get to half of the closet if I wanted to.You cant see the beach or much of the mountains, so dont count on a veiw. You're not allowed to have ANY drinks at the pool, which is stupid since if a bottle of water spills what's it going to hurt?. But whatever.Overall, unless this was the only way to go back to Kauai, then I would choose somewhere else. We still had a great time in Kauai and just didnt spend much at the room. I would not have felt comfortable taking my kids to this one because of the cleaning issues and because the kitchen would have been difficult to cook in. I would have paid more to have my room cleaner. That really is my biggest actual complaint. Im usually a person who tries to see the other persons point of veiw, and by the end I did, but it was hard to have many positives.
Whenever I'm on Kauai, I stay at Plantation Hale. I love that they have a kitchen so I can save on food. Clean, roomy 1 bedroom, 1 bath suite. Enough room for 6 adults. Close to beaches, supermarkets, restaurants and other hotels.
It was clean. The worst beds ever! Advertised as queen beds but were only doubles. The mattresses were sunk in the middle and went down hill towards the headboard. My poor husband slept on the floor. The staff was pleasant.
Just returned from our 6th visit to this property. We are always impressed by the friendly, welcoming staff especially Doni, Alicia and Debbie who always make our stay a pleasurable one. We love the location which makes travel on the island so easy and it is close to many restaurants and shops. It has 3 pools which are well maintained and always clean. It's set in lovely gardens also well maintained. It is an older property but the suites are comfortable, well laid out and with attractive furniture and fittings. The fully equipped kitchens are great enabling us to prepare the fabulous fruit and vegetables from the many farmers markets on the island. We were there for some weeks so it became just like home.
