Plantation Hale Suites
- What's Included
We had a wonderful stay, we were there for seven days. All of the staff was helpful and kind. Crystal at the front desk was a sweetheart! We had a garden room next to the pool, the grounds were well kept and beautiful. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable and there was air conditioning. The hotel is not right on the beach, but there is only a short walk across a grassed field and you are right on it. Everything about our stay was Amazing!! Kauai is a beautiful place!! Would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again! Mahalo
We stayed here for a long weekend. This is an older property that is in a good location for visiting both sides of the island and close to a variety of dining options. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly but the mattresses were some of the poorest I have ever slept on. Getting a good nights sleep was impossible. It seems odd to me that it was obvious that some money had been spent to update the kitchen and bath but no money was spent on a mattress upgrade. For me this would the the highest priority for a hotel. I read through some of the other reviews and saw a few complaints about the mattresses but not as many as I would have thought. This leads me to think that some of the rooms must have had new mattresses installed. I would call the hotel and see if there are accommodations with new mattress before booking here.
The staff was wonderful!! Crystal at the front desk was the BEST and SO SWEET!! Loved her!!! Marilyn at concierge was great too! The suite was nice, but the bathroom area stunk like it was cleaned with a moldy towel. I used my cleaning wipes to clean the counter tops, sides, cabinet drawers, legs, & the wipes were pretty gross. My only complaint, well that and no shuttle service offered is a bummer. I'm half blind, so l can't drive, so that really would have helped. Can't say enough nice things about the staff, they really were great! It was nice that I didn't have to deal with noisy neighbors, like at a hotel! Would stay there again; loved that it was close to shopping.
My first room/ condo was a disaster. It was Smelly, the barhroom had not been cleaned and the ceiling fan did not work. After calling and complaining about the three problems, the staff was able to move me to another open room that supposedly opened up later (after I check in). Which was good because I would've been very upset being in the smelly dirty room for six days. The new room turned out to be pretty good. Even although this complex is pretty basic, honestly nothing stood out to distinguish it from any other condo complex that I've rented in the past. The best thing about this complex is a staff member named Crystal. She is outstanding, just makes you laugh and is super personable. I would go out of my way to speak to her because she was just the best and gave me such colorful information about the local spots. It would have been awesome if every member of the staff could've been exactly like Crystal. If thus was the case, this would've have been an amazing review of the complex. Unfortunately Crystal is one-of-a-kind and not every member of the staff has her personality or is it or is as friendly as her. For the most part the staff is nice but they don't really go out of their way to be super helpful. For example, I found out on my very last day that they gave out free snorkeling gear in the activity center if you book a activity. I spoke to the Activity people twice and they never mention that. That would've been super helpful since I booked a terrible snorkeling tour on a zodiac and I could've just used their gear and gone to a local beach. The snorkeling tour ended up being so choppy, everyone on board got seasick including myself which ruined an entire day of vacation. That's why I'm give this complex just a three out of five. It is those tiny bits of information from helpful staff that makes a complex (in my opinion), not necessarily the amenities.
Having stayed here the past 2 years we find it offers everything necessary for a relaxing & enjoyable vacation. The staff is extremely friendly & outgoing & willing to assist you however possible. The accommodations are reasonably priced & value for the money, as a mid-ranged condo. If you require a 5 star resort you'll pay a lot more. The rooms are clean & nicely furnished & we would definitely recommend the Plantation Hale. The coconut shampoo & lotion is a nice touch to welcome you to the island. Also, as part of the amenities they offer a large free DVD library. Located onsite are 3 pools & 2 hot tubs, so never really crowded. Conveniently located is the Coconut Market Place that has some of the nicest shops & a wonderful free hula show on Wed & Sat performed by students from the local dance school. Also Long's Drug (CVS) is next door as is Safeway & FoodLand just a little further way.The location is conveniently located for trips to the North shore, Poipu, or Waimea. Also, Kapaa is located just to the north & offers a nice downtown area for shopping or restaurants. We found the Plantation Hale to be a great value.
