Plantation Hale Suites
- What's Included
Maybe it was the anticipation of being on our second honeymoon but Plantation Hale did leave a little to be desired. It was clean enough but could use some fine tuning. The upgrades helped with the dated property. The staff was very friendly. The biggest issue was the uncomfortable bed and pillows. Lumpy! We woke up sore almost every day. The couch wasn't all that comfortable either. It did however get us up and out faster than more comfortable furnishings would have.
We spent 10 days in a 1-bedroom condo. The decor was a little outdated but the suite was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and the cleaning staff were first rate. The grounds are well kept and there are 3 pools if you are so inclined. The location is central to grocery stores and restaurants. Would definitely consider staying here again.
This place is fine. Not great but not bad either. A bit dated but heck, it's Hawaii and it is a short walk to the beach (although the beach you can actually swim at is about 15 minutes from the hotel). Staff was helpful - things like mailing postcards for me etc. 30 minutes of free long distance to Canada/US in the rooms, Free DVD rentals (and a good selection of these) were nice. The unit was fine but no real view. A colleague of mine had a second floor unit looking toward the ocean and she had a balcony. Mine overlooked the parking lot. But again, it is Hawaii. Walking distance to the beach and a great Long's Pharmacy. Also walking (further) distance to McDonalds and a Starbucks (a much longer walk). Beach was beautiful although where this place is you cannot swim. You have to go around the point and there is a great swimming area. Unit was fully stocked with dishes, towels etc and other kitchens items as well. It was clean and I stayed here for about 2 weeks and I never saw any bugs in the room. I would recommend this place if you can get it cheap. Oh, and if you do go to this part of Hawaii you must do the Smith Family Luau and the Smith Family Grotto Visit. In both cases they pick you up and drop you off and in both cases they are fairly priced and I personally believe it is one of the best Luau's in Hawaii.
First, let me say, this was our 25th anniversary & we stayed here on our Honeymoon❤️The staff were Excellent!!! Especially, Crystal, CeCe, Noli & Tori. We called in advance to request a downstairs condo for the 2 weeks we were staying & wanting to stay in the same room as our vacation plan is reserved for one week at a time (& my beloved was having back trouble). We were well taken care of - thank you. Kapaa is a great location including a farmers market twice a week, restaurants, & boutiques - not to mention being right across the street from the ocean. North is Princeville & south is Lihue & Poipu.Second, Plantation Hale was built in the '70s, survived hurricane Iniki in 1992, & it really could use some TLC in the form of new furniture & flooring. It was musty & the furniture was very uncomfortable. We thought we had queen-sized beds before ??? And this time we had double beds (remember this is our anniversary❤️🌺❤️....We would stay there again - there are 3 pools, hot tubs, Weber BBQs, & the grounds are well maintained. (Convenience - there is a Long's Drug store in walking distance & their pricing on everything is very good & so was their service.). DK
My wife, son and I stayed here for a week. The Plantation Hale Suites seems to be well situated, just on the outside of Kapa'a, which is positive on the one hand in that it's relatively easy to leave and return during the congested weekday periods, and it's within walking distance to a number of grocery stores, restaurants, and other amenities; however, on the other, it would be nicer to be a few blocks closer to town and on the main beach strip for easier access to the coastal multi recreational path (The path is great for walking and running). The unit we stayed in was well maintained as did the establishment seem to be overall. There are multiple pools, one per every building or two, laundry facilities in each building, as well as collective BBQs, and parking was never a problem. If the price is right for you, check it out.
