Luxury and amazing views

Stayed 4 nights in a room with an ocean view. Our room looked out over the beach with a view of the mountains. Had an amazing view of a rainbow from our window one afternoon. Pool and beach area are elegant with lots of staff to offer towels and serve lunch and drinks. Room and bath are luxurious and large. Expensive, but worth it.

A Big WOW

Even though I was here for a business trip this location did not disappoint! We were greeted by friendly valet and porters. The porters are very proud of their work and love showing off all the rooms have to offer. PLEASE ask them in advance about the way tips are divided. If you get your car in and out a couple of times a day....you will want to understand the tipping. Some of your daily parking fee does go to the valet tips and some of the "porterage" fee does go to the porters. They all work very hard and are very professional so take good care of them PLEASE!!!! I am saying that after they lost our car key for a bit of time! :) The property is lovely although getting tired. I do feel as if a major renovation is in the works! Even though our room faced a jungle...I still loved it. I didn't have much time to be in the room so wasn't disappointed not to have a better view. On site restaurants were lovely....but didn't seem busy. If you try to get your car out at dinner time you will notice a lot of people leaving for dinner....exploring other places I would guess. It is a St Regis and it is Kauai so don't go there expecting bargains and happy hours. It is a sophisticated property serving a lot of sophisticated people. St Regis have a reputation to live up to and while they love all kinds of business...keep the prices in mind. If you expect a Best Western then this is not for you. While the dress of most customers is very informal and beachy......this place is classy! Employees are there to please! Every person there works hard to make a great experience! LOVED it!

Magical Location, Limited Selections

We had the opportunity to stay here for our Honeymoon, and it was certainly a memorable experience. Hawaii is beautiful, but the St. Regis has perhaps the best plot of land for hotel views in the entire state. What I found really unique about the property are the wall of windows in each room, which open to create an open air living room. This really lets you take advantage of the great room amenities, while also enjoying the Hawaii weather and Kauai views. Also enjoyed having a empty fridge, so you could throw your own bottle of wine in there if you wish. That being said, we were really disappointed with the on-site food offerings. In the evenings, the only options were bar bites in the lobby or extremely fancy sit-down in the Kauai Grill. We tried the lobby one night, but no one came to help us after sitting there for about 15 minutes. Since we were on our honeymoon, we weren't pinching pennies; however, we were essentially forced to leave the hotel each night if we didn't want the 5 start sit-down environment. Thankfully, we located the "Happy Talk Lounge" at the neighboring resort and it was one of the best restaurants we found in Hawaii. Lunch offerings by the pool were okay, but not memorable. The best option on site, by far, was breakfast at the Makana Terrace. Amazing views and a great buffet - definitely recommend booking a package which includes daily breakfast if you can find one.

Stunning Location.... old building

The location and views are probably some of the most spectacular I have ever seen. The interior of the hotel has been recently renovated.... but the exterior is quite sad and ugly, which unfortunately is prominent from the pool. We had a garden view with terrace on the 9th floor ( which is essentially the lobby floor), the room was nice and large and so was the terrace... but for the price paid ...pay the extra to get an ocean view. The brunch was worth it for the view... the food at Kauai Grill was underwhelming for the price ... especially when it is too dark to see the view. The sunset drinks on the bar patio felt like a tacky tourist attraction.... many ppl not guests at the hotel come and crowd... not enough servers to get a drink.Stay for the views from your room, the pool and brunch.... the rest don't bother with.

Spectacular Views & Outstanding Staff

This is our second time to stay at the St Regis Princeville. The staff and facility are outstanding. A couple of observations- the fitness centers need to be a little larger and our room had a problem with rattling pipes when using the bath/shower. All the staff showed a great attitude and were very friendly and helpful.
