Stayed here 3 nights during our family vacation to Hawaii. A lot of our friends raved about how awesome this hotel was. We realized upon arriving, we didn't take into account that most of these people stayed here 10+ years ago and a lot can happen to a hotel in that span of time. The resort is pretty run down and doesn't appear to be maintained to the standards of a "luxury resort." Paint on the walls in the rooms was peeling. Some stains on the carpet. Chairs by the pool and beach looked super old and had rust. There was also rust around some of the railing in the shower. The transparent glass in the bathroom had some kind of funk growing around it. The shower/bath (pictured below) set up was a total hazard FYI. Steep, granite, slippery stairs into a slick bathtub/shower. My mother (a physician) made a comment that she would bet money an older person gets carted away in an ambulance with a broken hip regularly. Pool area had very little areas to sit in the shade if you needed a break from the sun. Food on the property wasn't good, except for the Kauai Grill. The Kauai Grill was hands down the best meal of our entire trip. My father and husband played golf one day and said it was the best course they ever played on. So if you're looking for that, look no further. Overall, we were underwhelmed with everything. Definitely not at all what people cracked it up to be. Hotel looks like it needs to be redone desperately

We checked into the St Regis as the second stop of three on our Honeymoon in October 2016. We were only in Kauai for three nights and wanted a memorable experience. The service from Check In to Check Out was absolutely amazing with the rooms being well attended to and great service from the staff whether that be at the activities desk, pool or bar.The location is surrounded by holiday rentals with minimal retail or eating choices other than the resort however the food at the resort was first class (all be it a little expensive). The beach itself isn't as nice as others we went to in terms of swimming however there is a large pool which is very nice. In terms of activities the resort is located in close proximity to Princeville Airport and the island helicopter tours were excellent and something i would highly recommend. We were also looking to tour Na Pali by boat however we missed the tours leaving the northern part of the island by a couple of weeks so had to drive to the southern tip of the island for the cruise which wasn't an issue as it was a beautiful drive and allowed us to visit more of the wonderful island. The room itself was somewhat dated in design but kept to a very high quality and extremely comfortable.I would highly recommend the resort for a short romantic getaway particularly if you plan to relax and enjoy the resort. If you are looking for a lively resort with lots of attractions nearby this probably isnt the top pick for you.

Breakfast Buffet on fathers day!

We decided to treat my father in law for fathers day and take him to the breakfast which was buffet style. The biggest problem was that there were birds flying all over the place. As we were seated our table and had bird poop on it. The employees tried to clean it up but could only do so much as there were still markings on the table and the chairs. So I sat on a table cloth and so did my wife. Furthermore, a bird pooped on my father in-laws shirt. I mentioned that to an employee and he said sorry and went about his business. Also, we noticed that the birds were eating off the serving spoons in the buffet area. When a breakfast costs $40 a person I would expect a little more. I would not go here again even though the views were great. The service and cleanliness was worst then a Denny's on a Saturday night.

Magnificence and Splendor

THE most beautiful location on the island. The St. Regis is surrounded by jawdropping 5000 ft mountains and ocean! You simply cannot substitute the grandeur of nature! Additionally, the staff were very accommodating. They were there it meet all of your needs, moving umbrellas, seating you at your favorite spot, placing your towels, offering complimentary cold water. They were also very kind and helpful with local stories and recommendations. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly staff. The resort is grand and very exclusive in an unpretentious way. There was never a race to reserve a lounge as there were always plenty in excellent locations by the pool, on the lawn and on the beach. With beautiful and calm warers, it is an unhurried atmosphere and relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed sunny beautiful days with only one of five being partly cloudy with intermittent light rain (which we stayed in the pool) then there were amazing rainbows! The were very few small children but those who were there were delightful. The rooms were very clean - and I'm picky about that. The cleaning and turn down staff did a very nice job. The food was very good. Food and drinks are expensive, especially the drinks so be prepared if you drink much alcohol. We traveled with young adult children and all agree that we would return to the St. Regis. We also spent time on the south side at the Grand Hyatt. Prefer the St. Regis 💗 We found that at both the north and south island too many rocks for good swimming but water in the north more conducive to snorkeling. We had a fantastic stay at the St. Regis and would recommend it highly!

Magnificent sunset and rainbow views

My wife used her SPG points and a suite upgrade to get us a great room (a Level 9 Prince Junior Suite). The butler service was nice, but we didn't use it very much. We were told that the property is up for sale, and it's in need of a remodel. Service was excellent though. Buffet breakfasts were minimal in their offerings and expensive, but the omelet bar helped give the first meal of the day some variety. The Sunset demonstration was nice to see, once. Great location. We toured the island more than we used the property's amenities, so I can't speak to the pools, spa, etc. Sunsets over Hanalei Bay and the rainbows were breathtaking.
