Immaculate Service, Breathtaking Views

I don't think i've ever seen views as beautiful, and they change all day every day with the clouds etc., was there 10 days and never once bored. Lovely salt pool, lolled in all day without getting wrinkly. Loved the quality of the meals we had inside the resort - the Grill is outstanding. Tubing and surfing excursions brilliant, and just snorkelling right from the hotel beach was unforgettable.

the magic windows show the problem

Just got here. First impression: Location as spectacular as I remember but as other reviewers comment, maintenance is not up to St Regis standards. One thing that illustrates this point is the broken magic windows in most of the rooms. Magic windows are the windows between the main room and bathroom that can be opaqued with the flip of a switch. Its really cool when it works and allows you to enjoy the view from the bath but also to have privacy if needed. Right away when you walk in your room you will notice that the magic window is always opaque. Kind of like having the biggest decorative feature in a room be an old tv screen that doesn't work. See picture below. So I asked three staff members and got three responses for why ours doesn't work: 1. "They are being phased out." Whatever that means. 2" Sorry sir only the suites have them" ..well we have one, it just doesn't work; and 3. What i think was an honest answer, which I appreciated, "we are missing a part". So my guess? Parts expensive..maybe even no longer available. But make the investment to deal with it St Regis. Either fix the magic windows or take them out. And please don't patronize your guests with double talk like "being phased out". This brand has too much class for that.

Unusual odd experience at St Regis, Princeville

We had one terrible experience Aug 4, 2017 around 6:30 PM at St. Regis. No past bad experiences. We were at the "living room" balcony for the sunset at around 6 pm. The lounge chairs are set mostly in pairs. I found one that is free and my kids sat there. One of the waitresses said she could get a small chair in a minute. Then later another one shows up and insisted that no chairs could be brought there. Meanwhile the adjacent two lounge chairs opened up as the previous guests left. Then as I was about to sit she tells me that they are meant for two people signaling a couple who were behind me. So, if we are three, what are we supposed to do? There were other tables with four chairs with only two sitting. No rules there. It was embarrassing so we had to leave and sit inside. Complained to the person identified as manager near front desk. He didn't do much. I never had such an experience at Grand Hyatt Kauai in Poipu. We headed there on Aug 5th. I will think twice before staying in St Regis or Westin Resort in Kauai (people at Westin are nice but Westin does not have its own beach so they share the beach and other facilities with St Regis. Hence we have to deal with occasional rouge waiter of St. Regis ).Just found out St Regis has unionized wait staff and hence you cannot do much even if you experience terrible service by someone. One bad apple can ruin your day.

Beautiful Views

This is our 1st stay here. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The views are breath taking and there are lots of fun hotel activities (coconut painting, champagne sabering, hula dancing, s'mores, stargazing, etc.) The hotel is a bit dated and needs a renovation. There is only one pool, for the size of the property I think 2 pools, 1 for adults and 1 for families would be ideal. To be fair I did hear they will be doing a major renovation, adding a pool as well as other changes. Overfall the hotel is nice and we would come back again after it is renovated.

Fantastic experience

We spent 10 days at the St Regis Princeville for our anniversary. We stayed in one of the Prince Junior Suites with ocean view. We were a few feet away from the ocean and could watch the sunset from our room. The room had not been updated recently but it was clean and in great condition. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the packing and unpacking services (included with the butler services). The butlers did a fantastic job emptying our luggage and organizing our room. Both the butlers and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The concierge also contacted us before our trip to ask if there are any activities they should book for us. We decided to do so but, overall, got the impression that the concierge/hotel have partnerships with several companies. You may want to do your homework and check online reviews first. We also tried the hotel's restaurants and found that they were good but expensive. The breakfast buffet ($36/person) is excellent and worth it. However, the restaurants in Hanalei are definitively better and cheaper (as long as you don't follow the concierge's recommendations). The pool is crowded during the day but, as it is open 24/7, you can swim in the evening when nobody is there. The only drawback is that there are often discarded drinks around the pool area but clients are more to blame than the hotel staff.
