Hotel:Hotel is kinda old already and some of the the furnitures needs replacement badly. I chose this hotel because of location and it did help me in making a quick tour of Los Angeles easy and easier access to the airport because of their free shuttle. i was able to sleep properly in their hotel and the bed is not bad so that's a positive.Service:Customer Service in this hotel is HORRIBLE. They are not proactive and will not offer any help at all. When i arrived coming from the shuttle, no one even bothered to help me carry my luggage (Mind you i was carrying 2 big luggage and 1 small one... NO ONE IN THEIR HOTEL OFFERED TO HELP AND THEY WILL JUST LET YOU CARRY YOUR LUGGAGE ON YOUR OWN UNTIL YOU REACH THEIR RECEPTION AREA) Horrible Experience and will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
One of our nieces flies for Cathay Pacific, and the airlines books this property for layovers for their crew. Our niece was flying in from HongKong for a 2 night layover, so we drove down to see her. Our room was comfortable, quiet and spacious, but dated. The carpet especially showing wear. And some of the hallways and elevators reek of old oil showing poor ventilation. Although there is parking under the hotel, the cost is pricey. Our feeling is that the property is not really up to par with Hilton standards...
This is one of those hotels you only stay in because the airline gives you a free voucher because your flight was cancelled at 2am in the morning. At first appearances it looks quite nice, but when you dig deeper you discover its just an old Best Western with brass railings and marble floors. Its definitely seen better days and only maintained at a level where most guests don't complain. There are many elevators but some look like they were added as an after-thought because their buttons and styles are completely different than the ones next to them. The restaurants are overpriced even by LA standards, and they definitely take advantage that the only other option within walking distance is a Carl's Jr. Its basically take it or leave it, we don't care. They do have a self-serve deli where you can get a sandwich and two sodas for $20. On the plus side they do have a free shuttle to the airport, and the location of the hotel is generally good, if you have a car and are willing to pay the $30/night fee to park it.
I stayed here one night before a relatively early flight out of LAX.I arrived shortly before check-in time and the hotel was able to find me a room, which was appreciated. The staff at the valet and the front desk were very nice and the process of checking-in was efficient. The hotel is a very large airport hotel and has that generic feeling about it; don't expect anything local or boutique here. That said, my room had relatively fresh decor (not in its scheme...it was typical bland, soulless hotel...but in the carpet, furniture, etc.) and was clean and comfortable enough. That said, there were some non-working parts of the room--my thermostat bore no resemblance to reality; it was set at 45 degrees F in order to achieve a room temperature of around 70 degrees F. The alarm clock was malfunctioning. The coffee pot made only a half-cup of disgusting, ultra-strong coffee. I expect more from a Hilton in that regard; the broken room elements are reasons for giving this 2 circles rather than 3 as my rating. Internet was, at least, fast. The executive lounge offering was OK. The lounge itself was generic but large and was a good place to work for a couple of hours. They began the evening offering at 5p; it was decent, but by 5:15p the food was gone and they were behind in refreshing it, which upset several of the guests in the lounge. I've stayed in plenty of hotels near LAX and I think others are better than the Hilton. That said, if you need a quick overnight and the room rate here is competitive, it meets the need; hopefully, most rooms are in better working order than mine.
We have stayed at this hotel a few times, before and after flights (great shuttle service and parking while on vacation) and for a few conferences. The corner fooms away from the main runway are quiet and roomy with views of the city. A great restaurant/bar and small bistro make eating a breeze. You can get parking for $10/night with in and out privileges if you ask nicely.
