not impressed for the price

The hotel looks nice when you come in but expected more for the price. at checkin they had a huge lineup with only one staff working while there were 4 staff at the Priority checkin in for only a couple people. 2 staff helping each person. It took over half an hour and we were only 5th in line so I felt bad for the 20 people behind us. The sink in our bathroom kept overflowing and flooding the bathroom. We had the repair guy in and he said that it was boiler backflow and tended to happen in rooms in that area. they did offer to move us but it was 1 am and we had had a long day so didn't want the hassle. We just made sure we didn't leave anything in the bathroom. It happened periodically the whole three days we were there. They did offer to pay for one night of parking but didn't seem to be fair compensation for having a dirty sink and water filled bathroom. Parking is also very expensive! There was also no fridge or microwave which was unexpected for the price. I have stayed in 3 stars with better amenities. On the positive the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. However if you are a light sleeper remember that this is an airport hotel and planes are flying by regularly.

Terrible Experience - Cold Shower Water

I stopped staying at Hilton hotels after a bad experience in Houston last year. I made an exception and took another chance this time since it had been several months. What a mistake. The shower did not get very hot my first night, but I just dealt with it. It was completely cold the second night, so I called the front desk and asked if the boiler was down. The receptionist was rude and asked if I had run the water for a while. I told her that it had been running for about 15 minutes and was still cold. I imagine that she received several calls with the same complaint, hence the attitude. Engineering came upstairs after the water ran for about 25 minutes and it was still cold but mildly warming up. After a total of 35 minutes the water then reached 100°. (1.4° above body temperature). After a grand total of 45 minutes the shower reached 102°. Engineering told me that they must be having a problem with their boiler. At a rate of $190, waiting 45 minutes for hot water is not acceptable. This was the last chance for Hilton. I'm going back to Marriott.

Needs entire overhaul

We normally stay here once a year for a convention that is held here. This year wasawf. Elevators are being upgraded to the dumbest system out there. Stops on every floor. Only one available restaurant at 2 in the afternoon. Rooms were not even close to being cleaned properly.

Sub Par Hilton

Where to begin... The room was quite small, felt very claustrophobic for 3 people. We were there for 2 nights, never did get the chilly air conditioning to adjust to a comfortable temp, the control was completely unresponsive, and the front desk personnel were friendly, but overwhelmed with crowds and long lines of guests. Never did get online, so spent two days without ability to get my emails, bank balance, etc., very inconvenient. Front desk gave me a "special code" that did not work. Long lines in the computer room made it impossible to use that resource. All those folks said the same thing, code did not work. Needed help getting into my Hilton Honors account, front desk smilingly refused to help. Soda machine on floor 8 out of order both days. Overcrowded elevators meant 15 minute long waits in crowded hallway to get to room from lobby, and longer waits to get from floor 8 to Lobby. Breakfast buffet was $22 per person, but not that special, and a rip-off. Walk to Denny's. Believe it or not, there was a bizarre S & M, Bondage/Humiliation sexual alternative life-style convention there, called DomCom (Dom for Domination). Hundreds of people, male and female, in leather bustiers, clingy vinyl dresses, nine inch stilettos, nuns in vinyl habits, leather and vinyl "kittens" with whips, vinyl nurses, school girl uniforms on cross-dressers, had the run of the place. Some outfits were so skimpy and suggestive that even I found it quite shocking, and I am not a prude. I believe in celebrating diversity, but this took it to an entirely over-the-top level. Wonder how parents who were there with their families explained this scene to their children. I would not stay here again, despite the lovely, well-appointed high end decor.

Excellent in every respect

This hotel has been one of the "big name" hotels at LAX for many years. It's always modern, up to date, elegant, well run, comfortable, and immaculate. Rooms are large and well appointed. Staff is always extremely helpful and courteous. Highly recommend.
