Spent one night at the Angeleno. It's an interesting circular structure that seems to have been recently renovated; the floor I was on had very fresh and clean rooms with a pleasant modern decor and comfy beds. Staff was friendly and check-in service was quick (much appreciated by tired business traveler arriving late in the evening). There are two things that prevent me from giving this place a top rating: 1. Major problem: location; while it's close to the UCLA campus, it's also right next to a major highway. If you land a room facing the highway, prepare to sleep with earplugs. It is NOISY, even on the upper floors (my room was on the 12th floor). Rooms facing away from the highway may be quieter but I cannot tell. 2. Minor: they overdid the "modern" in the renovation. I am technically savvy but it still took me a good 10 minutes to figure out the strange touchpad contraption used to raise and lower the blinds. As best as I can tell, you need to slide your finger up or down on the left to open the blind, and on the right to raise or close the sheer drape. Some instructions would have been appreciated. Or, better yet, replace this infuriating device with a regular up/down rocker switch.
I booked this hotel through booking.com for Valentine’s Day and later found out that I had booked a handicap accessible room. When I came back down stairs I spoke with Cassie who graciously switched my room with no hesitation. When I checked into my second room, my wife immediately told me this room was not going to work out because she is a light sleeper and the our room was right on the 405 freeway. Despite having to switch rooms again, Cassie went above and beyond to accommodate all wife needs. She came up with a Bellboy cart and helped move us to the next room and even gave us drink coupon for the West Bar Lounge. The staff in the restaurant was very courteous and the food was delicious (Kudos to the Chef). Thanks again to the staff and Cassie for their *****5 star customer service.
I chose this hotel because we were going to the Getty Centre [a five minute drive away] and then, the next morning, Universal Studios. Perfect location for both with valet parking, a lovely, well-appointed room, and great views from the restaurant on the top floor. Delicious breakfast, excellent room service [which was not available in many of the hotels we stayed in on this trip] and the staff were friendly. Loved the happy hour wine I was offered when we checked in and there's no tipping!!
Lovely hotel, the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, but you will need a car as there is nothing within walking distance. The restaurant has great views of the city and the breakfast is great!
Stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks for a work trip and was very pleased overall. Very clean, great service, and every employee that I encountered was great. While others have made a point about highway noise, I was not personally bothered by it and forgot it was even there on the second day of my stay.
