Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
- What's Included
We recently stayed at The Andaz in Maui and had the pleasure of working with the Pacific Dream Photography team. The session is complimentary of the resort and we are so thrilled to have organised it as we couldn't be happier with the outcome. We met the photographer Robin and she couldn't have been more professional and lovely. We met in the foyer and she took my family and I through the resort to start the session. Our baby, who is 5 months old can get a little distracted at times and Robin was so amazing with him, she was playful and made him laugh and smile throughout the entire photo shoot. Robin was so personable, kind and informative in regards to how we should position ourselves and where to take the best images. The following day we had our appointment to go through the images in a viewing session and we were blown away! We reviewed the 145 images taken and reduced them down to our favourites - it was very difficult as Robin captured my family in posed and natural images and it was so beautiful to see my baby boy smiling in most of the photos! We initially thought we would just select a couple of images but walked out with the 20 image package. The pricing was excellent and Pacific Dream were so professional and prompt with sending us the images and we kind enough to create a video for us. Overall the entire experience was fantastic and I couldn't recommend Pacific Dreams any more highly
We stayed at the Andaz Maui for 1 week as one part of our honeymoon holiday. Overall it was a fabulous place to spend time but we do have both pros and cons to share. Pros: The hotel has spectacular views and feels very special, definitely the kind of place to celebrate something significant ie a honeymoon, big birthday or anniversary, there's lots of nice small touches like free water bottles, complementary planned activities like cocktail making sessions, s'mores by the fire, ice creams given out by the pool twice a day, bingo, where you have a good chance of winning free cocktails etc plus exercise classes and water sports. They also give you surplus snacks in your room and replenish generously. They really treat all of their guests so well and all staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Despite the high prices all the food we had was delicious! Pools: beach bar areas also lovely. Supermarket and shops nearby so it's easy to pick up any essentials you need.Cons: it's a very high priced hotel so you do have high expectations of everything and we felt the hotel was due for some updates, the decor seemed to be getting quite tired - the TV was slow, the temperature gauge on the shower didn't work too well and the safe was broken. The room also didn't seem to be completely clean all the time as the floors in our room were always just a bit dirty, also didn't replenish items like cotton wool every day. The food and drink prices are quite high - beer is $9 for a half a pint can so be prepared for this. It's also a shame that the breakfast buffet is so extortionate, we did try it once and even though it was nice, probably not worth such a high price. However it was a wonderfully experience for our honeymoon, somewhere we won't forget!
My husband and I just returned home from Maui and the Andaz was amazing. My only interaction with Hyatt was at a Regency so I wasn't sure exactly how upscale it was going to be and I was blown away. As soon as you get there, the valet took care of everything and greeted us in the perfect way. Walking to the lobby was breathtaking... everything is immaculate and the view is unlike any other. Reception sat us with drinks to relax and took care of our check in process. From there, the tone was set and every day was amazing... the pools, service, food, staff, room... so impressed! Cannot say enough about this place. We will be coming back!
What an amazing hotel. I stayed for six nights and didn't want to leave. All the staff were amazing. Permanent genuine smiles on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was amazing, partial ocean view, could hear the sounds of the waves. Incredible sunsets from the lanai or any of the bar/restaurants. 3 infinity pools, 1 adult infinity pool and one children's pool. I chose this hotel as it was not really a family style hotel i.e. Very few children. Those I saw I seldom heard. No matter which pool I decided to go to - there were ample lounge chairs - some with umbrellas and even lounge chairs IN the adult pool, which was perfect for a hot day. The restaurants were amazing. The buffet, thankfully, was included in my package, normally $60 but truly an amazing buffet. There were always 3 or 4 very cheerful attendants on the beach - a short walk from the pools - to set up with a lounge chair and umbrella steps from the ocean. They offered free Snorkle equipment , where you could Snorkle in the ocean. I used to Snorkle every morning and then go for a walk along the beautiful sandy beach - 3 miles. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel or their staff. 5 star all the way. I can't wait to return. Scott, the front Desk Manager was so helpful and went out of his way to make sure I had an enjoyable stay. I was made to feel Very special.
We stayed at Andaz Maui for 7 nights at the end of July 2017 for our babymoon. Even though our room wasn't ready on our arrival, but it wasn’t a problem since we could straight away get change in the hospitality room to then enjoyed the swimming pool. They called us a few hours afterward to tell us our room was ready. We enjoyed our stay so much that we only left the hotel one day, we rented a car and went around Maui just to see what is Maui all about.Like everyone who writes their review here says that Andaz Maui charges top dollar for the room night plus resort fee and also the food and beverage price are on the higher end (it’s Hawaii after all!), but the price is reflected in the well manicured ground and facility, and especially their professional service. They were always pro-active every time we encountered inconvenience during our stay, for example: when the meat in my husband's burger was overcooked, the waiter took it out from our bill. And when there was a big loud wedding group partying in the main pool, we told our waitress that we were moving to the adult pool and the pool manager straight away came to apologize and invited us for a drink and gave us a cabana. The housekeeping staffs were also amazing, they always did the cleaning and turn down service on time and they never once move our stuffs (it happens a lot whenever we stay in a luxury hotel like Andaz Maui, the housekeeping would move around my make-up/ toiletries stuffs every time they clean the room).Below are my recommendations if you are planning to stay at Andaz Maui:The receptionist will give you a list of the activity for the week on your check in (which supposed to be one of the benefits of the resort fee), make your plan based on that schedule so you won’t miss some of the fun activities that they offer (e.g.: bingo, yoga, etc).If you are not a big breakfast eater like us, and your room fee doesn’t include breakfast, I suggest just go to Mokapu Market (near the lobby) to get your morning pastry/ yoghurt and then get their free coffee at the lobby and then sit at one of the lounge at their splendid lobby while enjoying the view of the swimming pools and the beach and reading the free newspapers.Meals: Ka’ana kitchen menu option was limited and the portions are too small in our opinion. Bumbye Beach Bar: Crispy Chicken Katsu Sandwich is a must have! Lehua Lounge: Pa’ia Saimin Carbonara, a very creamy and filling pasta! Morimoto: good for lunch and even better for dinner (try to get a seat near the bar, it has a very nice view and you get Heidi, the bartender, to entertain you!) - you can’t go wrong with whatever you order, but make sure to have the dessert "the road to matcha” to end your meal on a high note! They offer free shuttle to the hotels/ restaurants nearby, take advantage of this for one night and see what out there. Ask the concierges for restaurants recommendations. Some small feedbacks for Andaz Maui: Please put more umbrellas on more sun-beds. It’s really annoying to have to arrive early at the swimming pool area just to put your towel to “claim” your sun-bed with umbrella. Please improve the variety of the food menu (and also the quality) of the Bumbye Beach Bar. After the third day with limited options we got tired of ordering the same thing, and the last thing we wanted to do was to leave the swimming pool :)When we were there, they gave away mochi as refreshment - the same mochi either in Strawberry, vanilla, green tea, or mango- for the WHOLE 7 days. Please be more creative! Special thanks to Molly (the waitress at the pool area), Travis (the pool manager), Jen (the young pool attendant at the adult pool), Heidi (day bartender at Morimoto) who made our baby moon memorable. We’ll be back!!
