Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
- What's Included
I thought this resort was a little pricey when I first booked but after a four night stay I found it to be quite reasonable. The rooms were very nice, clean and well laid out. The service was unbelievably good and all the included extras made our stay unforgettable.
Andaz has such great potential to be a wonderful, charming, cozy, hotel, yet for us they missed the mark big time. The guest care was minimal and shallow - to start off, after check-in we had to escort ourselves (alone) to our room. And, the worst of all - the room we were placed in was first floor with zero view (except of a roof and bushes) - with the elevated price we paid for our stay we expected at least a second floor view - incredibly disappointing. Looking at a wall during breakfast instead of the gorgeous view was almost enough for us to pack our bags, especially when there were 7-8 available tables with views. Why such poor attention? We are well traveled and generally stay at 5 star hotels - now I know why we choose the higher end places. Unfortunately we won't be back to Andaz.
I did quite a bit of research on hotels on Maui and found that the Andaz had amazing reviews across numerous sites. And know we know why. My husband and I honestly had the best travel experience ever at the Andaz. From the food, to the service, to the property itself, we were constantly wowed. Like other have noted, it is pricey. But you get what you pay for. Quality. First of all, I will recommend the location to anyone. Wailia/Kihei felt so much more relaxed than the popular West side, as well as less touristy/busy. You can also walk to a few restaurants and they offer a courtesy car for the nearby area. Next, the Andaz is a newer construction and it was very apparent everything was top notch, clean, and well maintained. It's design also makes it feel more intimate than some of the other larger resorts. Lots of different areas to choose from. I'm not one for that cliche tropical theme and Andaz has none of that - much more modern, sleek but still comfortable. The pools were wonderful, the beach area was great (lots of sand, clear water, and great snorkling right off the shore), the bar areas were fun and open, and other common areas were very comfortable. Lastly, the service. It was just phenomenal. Everyone was so considerate and clearly on a mission to make your day. From suggestions on what to do, to chatting about your day, to being a step ahead and offering up assistance, it was awesome. We did their bites and bitters dinner and highly recommend it - you sit at the bar (not a traditional bar - just a table where they make drinks so no one else is by you) and the bartender makes drinks depending on your tastes that match with the courses. It was such a great dinner with wonderful service. We also did the mixology class and enjoyed it. We couldn't stop talking about how awesome it was staying here. It's just one of those experiences that you promise yourself you will return to. We also walked to another resort nearby and confirmed our happiness with Andaz. It was perfectly nice but the Andaz is just better. Do yourself a favor and stay here. You won't regret it.
The Andaz at Wailea was the highlight of my trip to Hawaii. Even though it is a huge resort it has a boutique hotel feel. The Wailea beach is beautiful and has a great path to exercise in the morning connecting several hotels in the area. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The resort activities were great and the food options were excellent. The Marimoto restaurant with a sea view was spectacular. My advice is to get a sea view room if you can because the beach is really amazing and opt for a higher floor for more privacy.
I am so glad that we stayed at this hotel for our 5 days of holiday in Maui. It's situated on the beach front, with a beautiful view of the sunset. The room itself is of decent size with a big walk-in shower. Amenities are in good conditions and well maintained.Breakfast is the buffet type with a wide variety of food and plenty of healthy options. However, do expect a bit of a queue during the peak hours around 8:30 am to 9:15 am. Good news is that the waiting time is usually not too long.As a resort hotel, it offers a fair range of classes (costs already covered by the accommodation fee), from SUP, yoga, outrigger to mixology. If you are interested in joining any of the classes, best to check in advance if they have limited places, as the more popular ones like mixology gets signed up pretty quickly. As regards dining option, there are 3 restaurants on the premises, and there are many hotels nearby for alternative food options. It has been a thoroughly pleasant and very enjoyable stay here, the friendly and helpful service of the staff is also commendable. This is a place I definitely want to come back again in the future.
