Aston at Papakea Resort
- What's Included
Stayed at this resort for 11 days in August, through VI shares. None of the units through this agency have AC. At plus 30 some Celsius , it is not a pleasant stay. Suites are very outdated and not very well kept. Would not recommend staying in any of these. Resort itself is not too bad. There is no beach, but the grounds are very well kept. It is a non smoking property, so smoking is limited to couple of areas in the parking lot.
We had the best time here! We stayed in room #304. It was clean, quiet and had many handy amenities we needed for the week. This unit is in the back with the least ocean view. This did not matter at all! The unit was so quiet!! We loved the location because everything was close to the unit, parking, pool, hot tub and put put golf (tennis was a good distance). The unit layout was fantastic. I was traveling with many teenage girls. This unit was listed at a 2.5 bath, it is a three full HUGE bathrooms!!! Showers should be limited to 5 mins each if you have 7 occupants to secure hot water for the last one in. The room in the loft has three beds and its own bathroom. The AC traveled up there so they were all very comfortable. The master bedroom/bathroom is huge and amazing! There is a full huge closest in the bathroom. The last bedroom in the back attaches to the main bathroom. This was pretty handy with nighttime bathroom visits. The back bedroom gets a bit warm. There is a extra box fan in the laundry room. We would push cool morning air in and close it up for the day, this helped. The beds were loved by all! Very comfortable! The extras we found that were helpful were the fan, a cooler, put put equipment, sand toys, and boogie board. The kitchen extras were spices, oil, cooking spray, traveling tupperware, zip lock bags, foil, and saran wrap. Of course some could have been items paid foreward from other travelers and may not be there when you arrive. There were serving settings for at least 14. A few more of some. It was nice to be able to go two meals without doing dishes in-between. There is a farmers market walking distance from the resort. The prices were better there than other places we saw around town for the week. The blender is amazing you will want smoothies often :)The only thing we did not enjoy was the washer and dryer. They are loud and small. If they were just loud you could grin and bear it for a load here and there but when you need to do a bit more laundry that noise is constantly banging and screaming. Don't try to do laundry at night, somehow it intensifies! We finally timed washing while at the pool and then just had to endure the dryer that sounded like a jet engine. The machines were clean and clothes came out clean so they did their job.The Expedia breakfast was great! It was truly a informational breakfast where they hope to sell you tickets. It lasted about an hour. Several others on the island are time shares so be aware of that. They can drag as long as 3 hours!!We didn't see any bug problems or mice either. I saw those reported in other reviews of the property. We did see many tiny lizards and a few friendly cats.I hope I painted a well rounded review for you. I only found one other for this unit when I was researching. Enjoy your vacation!
This property is in a fantastic location. We have stayed here on two separate occasions and loved it both times. There is an ABC store within walking distance. While this property is ocean front you have to walk a short distance to get to the beach. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this property for all sorts of travelers. Young couples, families, friends or solo travelers will not be disappointed.
We rented a 1BR condo for a week and loved it. No bar, restaurant, or much in the way of activities, but the complex is in a nice area and right on the beach. We had a great time watching the sun rise and set, and walking along the boardwalk that extends a few miles.
Unit 407 is clean and maintained but the one thing we didn't expect was the "second bedroom" being an open loft. Our family of 4 with 2 teenage girls was cramped as the upstairs bathroom didn't have counter space but shelving instead. Downstairs, the main bedroom and bathroom were great for 2 people. The kitchen is fully stocked, but so full there is hardly room for your groceries. I would recommend this unit for people with smaller children, who don't need as much space or care about privacy. There is also no TV upstairs, which our kids did miss at night as they like to watch a movie and just hang out. The wifi was not able to handle our 4 devices if anyone was streaming. The pools and grounds were beautiful. There are planned activities like aquacize/yoga if you want that. There is a walk from the parking lot to the Unit, so we bought groceries 1-2 bags at a time, so we wouldn't have to make numerous trips from the vehicle. If you can get one specific parking spot, you are steps away from the building but it was never available. Although a lovely area, I wouldn't stay here again unless we rented a unit with 2 bedrooms. The owners were very helpful and leave a lot of information about activities in Maui. We really appreciated that.
