Aston at Papakea Resort
- What's Included
We stayed in Room A104 for 5 days. The unit was clean and well stocked when we arrived and the oceanfront view was breathtaking. The staff that I had to interact with was pleasant and professional. The only downside to this unit was that the living room furniture was a little dated. The grounds were well kept, the pool and jacuzzi were clean. Enjoyed our stay would defiantly stay again.
Quiet and quaint but awesome gardens and beach wall. The gardens are absolutely immaculate! The Koi ponds are stellar. Free mai tai party every Thursday with entertainment in the summer! My little one loved it! Close to some great restaurants, the amazing beach walk (approx 10 km round trip if u do it all), amenities such as the 3x weekly market and grocery, playground and beaches! We love having our well stocked kitchen and all the beach things the owner leaves for us. Even have a playpen! Every suite has a different owner... so do ur homework. We were in K307. The front desk is always super helpful. Lots of free parking.
This was my wife and I's 10 year anniversary trip, we came to maui for our honeymoon, so it holds a special place in my heart. I booked this "resort" through orbitz, and it was priced well. I booked an ocean front studio, we got an ocean front suite upgrade...it was not worth it. Our unit F304 needs upgrading stat. The ceiling fans rotate at about 1RPM, the ac is only in the living area, so the bedroom is always hot, and the pullout couch might as well be made of cement. My wife and I don't like to complain, so we were just going to make the best of it. Enter the crotchety old man that lives in F303. We share a hall. One day after coming back from the beach, my wife knocked a little bit of sand of my sandals by OUR door, before bringing them in. 530 the next morning, our doorbell is being buzzed about 4 times, the old neighbor is complaining about the sand as he is sweeping up, literally a tablespoon of sand. We apologize profusely and say we will be more considerate, yet he keeps going about how he lives here and this is his home! This dude, who has a loud alarm set for 345 am, then opens his doors and turns the tv to about 150 decibels, all while you can see into his room that is covered in nudey magazine pictures all over the wall! We had it, checked out, complained (besides all of this, the spa smelled like urine, the staff was completely unhelpful, and the fail to mention that "ocean front" means you see the ocean, but you have zero beach access, just a huge stone sea wall). Rented a house in kihei, way better, more amenities, cheaper, nicer. Thankfully orbitz was, easy to work with and refunded our 4 nights left (all though they/we had to go back and forth with Aston). Avoid this company at all costs
This resort has seen better days though it is still has beautiful grounds and a good location. It is a crap shoot when it comes to the condo's. We got the crap end. Bubbled dry way, cracked ceiling, tired-old furniture, dangerous glass shower door that swung in and out, furniture that wouldn't sell at a yard sale. And it wasn't until the end that we were advised that we could be moved. A detail that should have been made at the beginning.
We stayed in unit K-204 and it had a beauty view and the split a\c system was amazing to have and so much appreciated when it got hot in the afternoons. It has an upscale kitchen and both bathrooms were super nice, master bedroom was clean and very comfortable, living room was nice with a view. Doesn't have a kitchen table but has bar stools at edge of counter but no one wants to look at the fridge when they can stare at the ocean - head out to the lanai but turn off the a\c beforehand. The 2nd bedroom has a murphy bed which wasn't ideal but clean. Would have liked more than 2 kitchen cloths and hand towels. Pools and grounds were very well maintained and so clean.Bree @ Maui Beach Properties was easy to deal with for booking and Dave from MBP was prompt with the fridge repairs and was really nice with the late departure for us Canadians on the red eye flights. (thanks Dave!)I would definitely recommend this unit on the West side of Maui. :)
