Aston at Papakea Resort
- What's Included
This has one of the worst resort management experiences I have seen. Every day here has been horrible so far (and I have a day more to go)- Over phone, they promised a 3 bedroom unit with 3 queen beds. But I find 2 twin beds. When asked to join, they simply put the beds together and tell me that they don't have a foam to cover it up (as they gave out the last one just before me). On calling Aston, they said they would send someone over (but I haven't seen / heard from them in the past 24 hours).- The bathroom started leaking overnight. The late-night concierge asked us to plug the leak ourselves as no one was around past 5 PM to take a look, and asked us to wait till the next morning. They did fix it by the time we got home the next day, but a leaking bathroom in a holiday resort should be fixed ASAP and the guests should not be made to patch it up! The answer from the concierge? "You have 3 baths. Why not use the other 2?"- Dishwasher doesn't work when we need it and the same story with concierge - wait till tomorrow morning!Waiting to see how Aston can disappoint me for the 3rd day.
My family and I stayed the Easter week of 2017. The receptionist was pleasant and very helpful with the finding of nearby local restaurants. The resort was well taken care of from the pools, gardens (well manicured), clean BBQ grills and lots of free parking. We were given room E301 garden and ocean view... room was spacious for a family of four, 2 adults and 2 teens. The bedding and linens and towels were fresh and clean, Kitchen was had all the necessities...the only minor harp is carpet and a couple of the throw pillows from the couch showed or had sun lotion and these small ant like insects... not a deterrent from returning. We will most likely return in the near future.Mahalo!
I gave this resort three stars only because the actual condo unit we stayed in was fine and we had no issues with it. The management company that runs the resort itself was the problem with this place. I don't think I have ever been anywhere that has as many rules as this place. It's not like we are a bunch of 20-30 year old collage partying, loud, alcohol drinking people. A group of two families with kids ages 10-14, a grandma, an uncle, and parents 40-50 years old. Yet security followed us around telling us we can't do this, and we can't do that. For example, you can't have anything out on your balcony, no towels, no shoes, no boogie boards, nothing on the tables, nothing on the chairs, nothing! No fishing on the property, doesn't matter that its 6:00 am and there's absolutely no one around, no fishing on the property. They seem to hate kids here too, no fun here, kids, no riding scooters, no throwing balls, no jumping in the pool, etc etc etc. They have no problem enforcing the rules but they can't seem to do their jobs and have the gates to the pool unlocked at the time the sign says the pool is suppose to be open in the morning. They have no problems inconveniencing you on your holiday by having you remove everything from your counter tops , while they come in and fumigate ( and take all day doing it) but if you park with your tire on the white line in the parking lot, they leave you a nasty note saying you are taking up too much space in the parking lot and can be fined! Never mind there's no other car in the lot! This place has seen me twice, the first and the the last! Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else, there are lots of places to chose from in this area.
We've stayed at other area places around Kaanapali area. This our favorite resort style without all the hustle and bustle. These are individual condo's owned by owners so they could vary in remodel status. Don't get me wrong....Well worth our style. We do understand there are many folks's styles but when we'd like to buy in this resort, thats got to tell you something.
This fabulous property is beautifully maintained and features an outdoor pool and hot tub complete with metal barbecues and all manner of outdoor cooking amenities. The front courtyard is also a small golf course complete with miniature bridges and coy ponds. The coy are tame and come to visit if you stand still for them. The golf course ends on the ocean and a well kept walkway that meets the shoreline all the way to Lahaina - about 10 miles of walkway. Each unit is a suite complete with a full kitchen and laundry. Across the street from the Papa is a full service grocery store with sumptuous, fresh produce. There is daily suite cleaning and each suite is remarkably well kept. This resort is my yearly home away from home. The Aston Papa Resort also offers outings' planning every other day. For approximately $100 guests can be picked up and taken to hike the volcano, explore the bug and snake free jungle, visit grey whales from the deck of a catamaran, or go shopping in Lahaina - just to name a few outings. The Aston Papa is a little paradise on Maui, Hi. Maui is a spiritual place if you choose to sit in the clouds atop Its volcano, or it is a lively place if you choose to dine downtown in Lahaina. The Aston Papa is my home base on MauiSincerely,SandraRetired Special Education Teacher
