Aston at Papakea Resort
- What's Included
Stayed at this resort early August for 6 nights. Oceanfront Studio room. View was spectacular. The grounds are well maintained and beauiful. Pool areas are great. In that regard, the resort is top notch. No complaints. However, the room was not well maintained. The patio was buckled. The "bed" was a small Murphy bed that was not exactly in great shape. The furniture was cheap and in disrepair. The stove only partially worked. While there was a coffee maker, not filters. Salt and Pepper shakers, no salt and pepper. The staff, didn't take any interest in any of this. However, we were in Maui. Hard to be mad. Just know what you are getting. A top notch resort in all respects on the outside. Mediocre at best inside.
Well manicured grounds. Great pools and ocean views. Complex is a short drive anywhere! Units are well placed to offer maximum ocean view. Loved all the trees and tropical flowers on property. Staff extremely helpful,
Parking, checkin, and getting to our room could not have been smoother. We were traveling together with friends and it can sometimes be lengthy and tedious to get checked in. However, the hotel managed to get our rooms close together to simplify meal times and visiting with each other. The rooms were better than adequate for a very old hotel, and it showed that there was effort being made to maintain not only the well equipped kitchen and entire studio, but also the landscaping of the well-kept, beautiful grounds and gardens. It was extremely peaceful outside on the patio, and refreshingly cool in the airconditioned room. Very comfortable and peaceful stay!! The best bed EVER!!!
Just an FYI...if you are booking the 1 bedroom, oceanfront room, the air conditioner is ONLY in the living room. Some units may have 2 air conditioners but, if you book thru Aston, they ONLY have 1 air conditioner in their units.
We spent 10 days at this lovely resort. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax before and after a day out, this is the place for you. We walked past two neighboring resorts that had large pools and a lot of people and initially, my thought was "wow look what we're missing" but that feeling was lost when we returned to our resort after a busy day. We had unobstructed views of the ocean and watched the nightly sunset from the lush lawn that borders the ocean. There are nicely appointed grills and the pools were big enough not to feel crowded. We were able to relax under the Maui sun while our children swam in the pool. It wasn't hard to keep watch over them as it would've been at the larger resorts. The grounds were immaculate and beautiful. We were very pleased and would recommend this place to vacationers who appreciate the beauty of the outdoors and the sound of the ocean waves. My only recommendation and what would've made the stay perfect is that the daily trash removal would have include replacing towels and ensuring an extra roll of toilet paper was stocked. It's not fun when you run out of toilet paper at 7am and you're told housekeeping can deliver some at 9am. However, I'm still giving it 5 stars.
