Aston at Papakea Resort
- What's Included
This resort is clean, well set-up and just really relaxing. It is in a great location close to supermarkets and coffee shops etc. and a short drive to Lahaina and Kapalua. The check-in staff are very friendly along with all staff we ran into during our 10 day visit. The grounds are very well maintained and the brand new looking weber BBQ's outside near the pool were great for preparing dinner. We stayed in B-406 with an excellent view of the ocean. There is plenty of parking and even over Christmas and New Year's we never worried about relaxing in a chair by the pool or next to the ocean. We will definitely be back.
We just returned from 10 days at the Papakea and it was wonderful!. We were very happy with our one bedroom apartment and thrilled with the property. The staff was very helpful and the grounds were kept immaculately clean, including the pools, hot tubs and BBQs. Papakea was well situated with a great grocery store across the street and a coffee house and farmer's market within a short walk. Also nearby is the boardwalk to Whaler's Village, which is perfect for a stroll or an early morning run. There is no on-site restaurant or bar, which meant that the property was quieter than others. What we did have was "Carl", our yoga instructor, who helped us melt away the stress, while looking out over the ocean with whales spouting in the distance (I am not making this up, it was that wonderful). Yoga is one of the activities included in the $17 per day resort fee. Since the apartments at Papakea are individually owned, some are updated and maintained better than others. Do your homework and rent one that is right for you. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
This property was a huge disappointment. First, there is NO BEACH! This was a major let down since it was the main reason we selected the property. If you stay here, you will be driving to find a beach. Second, the one heated pool was broken so there was no heated pool. The list goes on and on but the main issues - condo H303 was extremely dated (think 1980s), bug laden, and had very limited hot water. Service was sub-par for us, but others in our party were able to get decent service. The windows are open so there is no way to block out sound and it is very very loud at night. You can hear every word said from the parking lot through the top floor. Luckily, most people were respectful and were quiet after 10 pm. Weekends were the loudest. The grounds were nice, had putting greens and a beautiful ocean view. Location is decent, some good restaurants in the area.
We turned two milestone birthdays on 1/4 & 1/5/18. 70 & 75 years YOUNG!!!Having been at Papakea on three other occasions, we sought to use the same local agency for this magical vacation. Didn't work out due to an inability for them to negotiate an acceptable rate for our fourth visit. We found, instead, Sue & Bob Ward and their 1 bedroom Condo, H-207.Doing everything they could to allow us the pleasure of spending 2 weeks in their home away from Michigan; we decided that these people knew how precious these birthdays were to us.The lanai offered an excellent view of the ocean with the possibility of seeing the occasional migrating whale ( I didn't see any! SAD! ) Watching people is one of my favorite past times and I could have done just that for 14 days. No; other plans were in the offing! The condo was perfectly suited to our needs and wants. ONE minor problem!!! No scissors!!! LOL ( I had a pair of my own with us )Washer and dryer make life much easier since you only need a few days of clothes in your luggage.Thank you, Bob & Sue for your hospitality and kindness.PS: They also have a studio condo; C-304, available!
Spent two weeks and had a blast. I stayed in F102 and the decor was updated. My friend's room was not. I enjoyed my stay. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff was responsive and helpful when it was within their authority. I enjoyed my stay here and would cone back to F102.
