My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights. The staff were very friendly. The room was very nice and comfortable. We had a balcony and a beautiful view. We had a partial ocean view. We stayed in G510A. It was a little smaller than a standard hotel room. We didn't go to Maui to stay in our room so we didn't have any complaints.
The staff and room are wonderful, spacious and clean......One block to a gorgeous beach.....2 pools......clean property with colorful flowers, trees and plants......close to shops, restaurants and beach rental chairs, snorkel gear, etc......
Maui Banyan, Kihei, Maui – Good Value – Stayed here from September 3 – 25, 2017 in a two bedroom unit in Building D (closest to the beach). The access and egress were fine with the walk to Kamaole II beach about three minutes. The second story two-bedroom condo was well appointed with obvious upgrading throughout including new bathrooms. The kitchen was fine with granite throughout. Many condiments and beach equipment were in the condo. The living area and bedrooms were well maintained and up to date. The television and internet were fine. The place was reasonably priced. Short comings were unassigned parking, some pillows, small needed repairs to some of the appliances, one of the air conditioners and two of the fans.
I live on Maui and my parents stayed here in G103 while on an extended visit which was a terrible choice. They have stayed in many vacation rentals around the island on previous visits and I would list this as the worst one yet. As many condo vacation rentals in South Kihei are hit or miss depending on the owners or management of a particular unit it is hard to tell online whether a place is decent or not. This particular unit's owners have photos online that do not accurately represent the cleanliness or condition of the unit so I'm posting this review for others to avoid making the same mistake since my parents aren't the posting type. There may be other units that are cleaner or in better condition than G103, but I would also give the entire property a poor review due to some of the issues being property-wide.First, the unit:- The mattress was heavily stained with lots of small dots that looked like old blood stains (as were the pillows) and one large rusty colored stain. Absolutely disgusting! How could anyone change the sheets on that bed and ignore these major signs of a bed bug problem? Even if they took some pest control measures (which I can't say they have since both my parents got strange bites during their stay there)...change the mattress for heavens sake! To me this speaks largely to the level of care these owners invest in the unit - minimal. Easy money!!- The air conditioner was EXTREMELY moldy. Mold is a problem on Maui and it's normal to find a tiny bit of mold here and there, but this a/c has never been cleaned and is ready for replacement. Strong mildew smell and if you have allergies - forget it! Also, there is only one through-the-wall a/c in the living room so it gets hot in the bedroom. The tiny window in there doesn't provide any air flow and since it's the first floor, you probably won't want to sleep with the sliding glass door open. Don't even think about sleeping in the living room because the pullout couch is the worst! My dad tried it for one night and had back problems in the morning.- The bathroom reeked of urine, which I though was from the rug (which you can't even wash the urine smell out of), but even with the rug removed, the area around the toilet still stunk- Diswasher, dryer and bedroom doors all had functional issues- As you can imagine with this kind of lack of care what the overall condition of the unit was inAs for The Property:- Poor layout for airflow since there are only the sliding doors on one side (again, bigger problem on first floor), but also makes the place kind of dark- Dark, dingy hallways- The patio is right where the hot air exhaust from the a/c blows- The building doesn't appear to be well maintained either - the upstairs patio was leaking water onto our unit's patio and there was serious mold and structural damage as a result- The pool is mediocre and on the small side for the number of units- Parking is ridiculous - no assigned parking for your unit and the few spots near the building's entrance get filled quickly so you will have to park on the second floor of a garage that is a long walk from most of the unitsI would highly recommend avoiding this place. There are many better options in the same price range.
