Aston Kaanapali Shores
- What's Included
Usually I do not write reviews, but after basing my decision on where to stay in Maui off what others reviewed on trip advisor of the hotel I thought I should share my experience as well. We stayed at the hotel for 6 days in room 231. We got a free upgrade to a one bedroom with garden view, which was awesome. Room was very clean! Décor was a little outdated, but I feel it gave the true hawaiin island feel, which my husband and I enjoyed. Expedia concierge was amazing and very helpful! We loved having the kitchenette and there is a grocery store right across the street, which was super nice. The restaurant had really good food and happy hour from 2-5! Maui Mule was my favorite drink. The mango chicken BBQ salad, was one of the best salad's I have ever ate. Both pools were awesome! There wasn't much of a beach, but a short walk or drive will take you to Kaanapali Beach, which is beautiful. There was also a restaurant across the street called Java Jazz- seriously amazing food! We ate there twice for breakfast and it was absolutely amazing! Overall great resort! If you are considering this place- look no further. We were pleasantly surprised and just had a wonderful honeymoon :)
It's not a hotel it's a cooperative. If you have a family it has a full kitchen, washer and dryer living room and patio. The property has two pools several stores , the beach is not large but very rocky unable to swim in the ocean. They have a restaurant witch is nice food is delicious service is excellent. There is housekeeping rooms are clean everyday. It's two bus rides from downtown Front street a car is recommended there is a parking lot. The front desk is helpful and the bar hop is excellent will help you with busses and cabs. If you have a family this hotel will suit your needs. There is a shopping mall across the street with more restaurant.
Wife and I planned my first visit to Hawaii for several months. I usually opt for a Hilton property inasmuch as I hold Diamond status with them. They treat me right. But in checking what it would cost for nine nights, I decided I wasn't ready to part with my left nut. So we looked for an alternative.VRBO availability was poor, even nine months out. We consulted Tripadvisor and looked for non-Hilton alternatives and decided upon the Aston Ka'anapali Shores. When you freestyle like this, sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. But in this case, the former prevailed - the Aston was a great choice for a lengthy stay. It takes a lot for me to say that but I was pleased with our stay in all respects. We arrived late on a Saturday night in a pouring rainstorm. Thankfully, that was the only rain during our stay. We were made to feel welcome right from the start. Wife had signed up for Aston's A-List frequent guest program and that yielded a nice room upgrade (to a 2-bedroom corner suite on the 5th floor). It was a bit of a circuitous path from the elevator to the room (reminded me of an E. M. Escher print from the 70's) but we were quite pleased with the accommodations. It was essentially a small 2-bedroom / 2-bathroom apartment with a full kitchen and stacked laundry facilities. Perfect for an extended stay. Wireless worked flawlessly and was of adequate speed (typically 10-15 Mbps down and up, with a ~12 ms ping). The hotel does not have a business center but there is a shipping/internet cafe in the same complex as the supermarket. It's a bit spendy but if you have to print something out that the front desk can't swing (e.g., Stamps.com shipping labels), it's essentially your only choice within walking distance. And everything in the room worked. The only question we had was the location of the switch for the garbage disposal. A call to the front desk yielded the revelation that it was either mounted on the wall by the stove, or it was underneath the sink. Ours was underneath the sink. All necessary utensils, kitchenware, etc., were provided. With a full-service supermarket (Times) right across the street, one can set up light housekeeping without too much trouble. It's open 21 hours a day (5 am to 2 am) 7 days a week so we could have stopped there to lock and load before checking in. But we were too wiped. This place had all the comforts of home. It was a great plus to be able to do laundry right in the room - a true time- and trouble-saver. The bathrooms were clean and all the fixtures worked fine, but there are no fans. The hair dryers are in the drawers aside the sinks. The furniture was fine and the bed was comfortable. The elevators are fast and we never had to wait long for a car. Parking was adequate, out in the open air or inside a garage. In-out was a breeze. The pool facilities were fine. If you want to get burnt to a crisp by the tropical sun, as did I, go for it! They do have umbrellas (and cabanas at the confiscatory price of $39/day) so you can relax in the shade if that floats your boat. Needless to say, I became an umbrella aficionado for the remainder of the stay. Scuba lessons are offered, with instruction taking place in one of the pools. Of course, equipment can be rented. The property is well-maintained by a friendly and industrious staff. Our housekeeping duo were two very nice ladies who took good care of us. Like I said in the beginning, I'm hard-pressed to come up with any complaints. On the other hand, when you pay upwards of $350 a night, you shouldn't have to complain about anything.
Fabulous stay here. Very clean, and very well equipped.. Beautiful, spectacular ocean front views from our one bedroom rental apartment 806. Very Close to Grocery store, farmers market, and super local eating places, Chinese. Mexican , and Barefoot juice bar
My husband and I just returned home from a 10 day stay here and we loved it! For the price and the location, it's a great value. Friendly staff, the resort grounds including the 2 pools, were fantastic. The Beach Club restaurant served good breakfast and lunch, dinner was OK. Service was very friendly, quick and food always hot. The grounds are well kept, the interior - lobby etc very clean. We had small issues on our first day with lightbulbs and our DVD player and maintenance was called and arrived right away and resolved the issues. Only downside was our room - #450. We were thrilled with the fact it was a 1 bedroom and it was very spacious, but the living room and bedroom really need updating. The kitchen was fully renovated (very nice)but we would have preferred a newer, comfortable couch and larger TV in the living area. Lighting in suite very dim, almost impossible to read at night in living room or bedroom. Bedroom was nice and dark and the AC worked well. Something to note - this side of the resort is DARK!! Our room got no sunlight at all. When we come again (and we will!), we will request room on other side of the resort. Daily housekeeping was a bonus. Lots of parking. Great location, lots within walking distance and 5-10 mins away from Kanaapali beach. All in all, we are very pleased with our stay at this resort and will be back next year for sure!
