Mahalo for making a difficult trip so much easier!

Our planned trip to Maui to visit my grandmother turned scary when she took a nasty fall and hit her head. The fantastic staff at Castle Paki Maui were wonderful. Not only did they handle a last-minute shift in our original schedule without complaint, but they were wonderful when my grandmother took a turn for the worse and we had to make a second major adjustment a day later. Mahalo nui loa to the wonderful women who made a really tough trip a whole lot easier. Aloha!

Clean facility, AWESOME beach, tons of turtles!

We originally booked a room w/garden view- Outdated (pink carpet) & unbearably HOT. We upgraded to a ocean front room, which was updated & cooler due to ocean breezes. (There is NO A/C at all at Castle Paki Maui, which was unclear when we made reservations!) Staff was very helpful & friendly, brought each member of my family their own oscillating fan. Lush courtyard with water feature. Small pool & hot tub. We saw turtles daily and a huge variety of fish less than 6 feet from shore.

Location is Everything

This is our second stay at Paki Maui, each in a different room. Last year we shared a two bedroom on the north side, this year we're in a one bedroom on the south. Both had ocean view, just different views. Same as last year we rented from another company other than Castle, the onsite management, so we had no real interaction in the office other than a parking pass. No problems either.Paki Maui has no air conditioning, but great trade winds, so we didn't feel too hot. The grounds are well maintained, with what appears to be constant work. The pool and barbecue area is clean and well kept. Laundry available on the third floor, plus in some units.Since these are individually owned units, the finishes vary dramatically. This year's unit, 109 has been refurbished with granite in the bath and kitchen, glass front cabinets, and furniture that IS NOT WICKER. What is with Maui owners, everything is wicker and uncomfortable. Not so this unit. Other units have a fascinating assortment of styles, so study the pictures. In the one bedroom configurations, the bedroom in the back, right next to the interior walkway. Lights and talk can be annoying, particularly when that one guy who doesn't believe the quiet hours applies to him decides to wander down the walkway talking loudly about his wonderfulness. You know the guy. We'd stay here again as the place is in the part of Maui we enjoy and it isn't huge. Try walking around the Westin or Hyatt and maintain a sense of quiet. ( I know, different clientele )No sandy beach, but there are few in this area. Good food is close, as is the public market. There is a local park next door, which is used extensively by local folks, particularly on the weekends. Not a high end place, but a comfortable one.

Decent value accommodation, however, room location is everything.

We rented a two bedroom/two bath condo with friends, which was cozy, but certainly sufficient. Our room was on the second level and had partial views of the water, however, we were closer to the road than the ocean. This meant noise started up early, so if you want to sleep in on vacation, you may want to seek a waterfront room. You'll also have much better views over there. The condo itself was lacking many basic essentials (coffee filters for example), which in the past, aren't typically issues at rentals like this. One of the bedrooms had two twins and their solution to bring the beds together into one larger one wasn't quite adequate, but we knew one of the rooms had the twin setup.Pool was small, hot tub was decent sized - but both closed too early for us (9pm I believe). The laundry facilities also closed earlier than you'd like when trying to sneak some laundry in after a long day out.Location was good and there were plenty of amenities within walking distance. I'd consider staying here again, but only in an oceanfront room.

OMG! The view is incredible!

I loved this place! It is right on the water. We had a two-bedroom suite. Although it was not the most modern, and was traditional aloha rattan and floral, it was still perfect. Well equipped suite. We could see turtles swimming by daily. If you're a sun worshiper, you should know that the sun doesn't hit the balcony until later afternoon. I didn't mind that. There is a health-grocery store across the street - and a few restaurants nearby. Parking was never an issue - and I never heard a peep from the neighbors.I really hope I can go back SOON!!
