Beautiful Views!

We stayed in a beach-facing unit above the pool area, and we loved it! Paki Maui is off the beaten path but within walking distance to wonderful restaurants, quaint gift shops and the local Farmer's Market. Our condo did not have A/C, but the breeze off the ocean was all we needed to chase away the mid-afternoon heat. The ladies at the front desk were always pleasant and happy to help with whatever we needed. I will definitely stay at Paki Maui on our next visit to our favorite island!

Worth The Price? Questionable.

I booked this through hotels.com, and the pictures included on the listing there look misleading. Are they stock photos? Are they photos of one or two of the condos that have been updated and modernized? Honestly, I wasn't expecting much because of the location and the price (it was the cheapest deal I could find). But, I spent an average of $175 per night. With that, I expect the room/condo to be inviting, including the dishes and cutlery to be clean, as well as the stove to be functioning correctly. I spent my first night there deep cleaning the cutlery and entire kitchen, which is something a guest should not have to do, especially after traveling for 13 hours. The bathroom was okay, but was extremely small. Being small in stature, I didn't mind that too much, but if you are tall, it might feel really tight and claustrophobic. The one real plus is that it is a few hundred feet from a park/beach and a bus stop, as well as across the road from a coffee shop and natural/holistic grocery store.I don't plan on staying here again, unless I can rent an oceanfront condo that is clean and modern. Please be mindful of all of the reviews before booking this place.

Outstanding!!!

Nice condos, right on the beach! Walking distance to farmers market and other amenities. While there is no AC, open the windows, doors and turn on the ceiling fans, and the cool ocean breeze with the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the moonlit shore lull us to a peaceful slumber every evening.

Good budget option

This is a low rise condo building in Kahana. It sits right on the ocean and a good number of the condos have ocean views. (Only if you pay for it and it says "ocean view")Like many condos in Maui these are individually owned so you don't really know what you are going to get until you check in. We had a two bedroom ocean front unit on the 2nd floor. The first unit we had was not in good shape, the couch arm was falling off, the TV in the living room didn't work. I talked with the front desk and they did eventually move us to a larger slightly nicer unit. This unit had a washer dryer unit in the condo. Many units do not have this but there is a laundry facility on premises.None of the units that we saw had AC. During the time we were there this is not an issue. The breeze off the ocean was adequate to keep the condo cool. Most of the time we spent on the lanai so not having AC was no problem since it cooled off well at night when we slept. There was no charge for parking and no daily fees (common in many Maui hotels)There are really no activities at the complex. The pool is small and rather shady so during the winter it really wasn't worth using. There really isn't a beach at this location either, although several people swam right in front of the complex because there was a protected area near the shore.Like many resorts in Kahana there is beach erosion and there were 2 large sinkholes on the lawn with orange fencing around them (which obstructed the view somewhat)The kitchen that we had was fairly well equipped and we were able to cook a number of our meals in the condo saving a ton of money and eating fresh fruits and veggies for healthier meals. There is a nice park with a beach that is with walking distance of the complex. There is a grocery store(Times Supermarket) within a slightly longer stroll with "low" prices (for Hawaii). Across the street is a "farmer's market" really just a mostly organic grocery: prices are rather high but the bagels and baked goods are yummy and they do have a lot of fresh fruit. We ate at a pop-up pizza oven that was in the parking lot of a small strip mall directly across the street. Pizza wasn't bad and very convenient if you don't want to fight the crowds in downtown Lahaina. This is a convenient location, away from the high priced and very busy Kaanapali Beach area but close enough to Lahaina to make a quick trip into town for shopping, dinner or a whale watch cruise.

Research What Room You're Getting

Make sure you research what room you will be getting prior to booking. We booked through a travel agent in Vancouver. Our room(213) was terrible. The carpet was disgusting, old, damp, stained and looked like it was still the original. Light fixtures didn't work, some coming out of the ceiling. Not sure what the mattress was made of, cardboard maybe? The refrigerator was old and rusty. Bathroom was just gross. We didn't take our shoes off and didn't want to used the bathroom. This room should not be used. Now the good. The next day when we were checking in after getting in late the night before, my wife asked if all of the rooms were the same. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. We were offered another room 210. Completely different experience!! This room was updated and clean. Tile flooring, tiled bathroom and shower, new kitchen and furniture. The carpet in the bedroom and floors including the patio needed cleaning. Overall It was like we were in a different complex. The facility is also nice, nothing fancy but functional. Pool is on the smaller size, hot tub is good, both are clean. BBQ's and tables in the pool area, this is nice. Not much of a beach but there is one right next door. This wasn't a problem for us, we prefer the grass and snorkelling area right in front of the condo. It has a reef and pools of water for small kids to swim in. But the best are all of the fish and sea turtles everyday!!! Never any crowds, most we had were 10-12 people out front. Lots of chairs available all of the time. We found the front desk always friendly and helpful. Lots of towels when needed. Food and services close by. Good Restaurants, coffee shops, snorkel shop and takeout across the street and market. If this review was based on just the first room we might not have stayed and rated a 1 star. If we only saw the second room and enjoyed our stay possibly a 4⭐️. We rated this a 3 only because we combined the two rooms. We would recommend and stay again. Hope this helps.
