it is what it is

our visit to the paki maui is two fold. Our first week we stayed in a two bedroom oceanfront room. our second week we are in an oceanfront studio. First and foremost you must remember that these condos are privately owned so you may have a room that is modern and up to date or you may have a room that is, well, not. Before we booked our rooms we tried to get pictures or discriptions but we were told that they could not provide this. So blindly we booked. The 2 bedroom is not the modern updated room we would have liked to have had. The beds were comfortable, bedrooms are clean and airy. The living and dining area clean as well. The furniture not so much, I spent the week with a constant aching back from trying to sit on the sofa. Although the tv was a flatscreen it was to small for the room. Then there was the kitchen. It said it has a full funtional kitchen but it had an extra small kitchenette. Two people could not be in the room at the same time. There was 2X2 counter space, no oven a cooktop that had 4 burners but if you are preparing a meal the only space is the cooktop. It has a dishwasher but the dishes only fit in the bottom rack. This room is definately a DYI and I give the owners koodos for trying. Remember this property does not have air conditioning, so in order to cool the room you have to open the sliding door. During the night the constant pounding of the surf on the sea wall is loud.

Seashore Hotel - Nice Place for Rest and Relaxation - Complete Kitchen Facility

Here are the reasons why one can come to Maui to rest and enjoy while they are here. For military families: they gave us the 40% discount.Staff: all the people from the front desk to maintenance people made us felt welcome here. We really enjoyed their friendliness.Hotel facility: Our room was less than 30 yards from the beach; the sunset was most beautiful as we observe the magnificent sight from our balcony; the kitchen facility with the electric stove, microwave oven, the refrigerator with the plates, silverware, pots and pans etc saved us from eating out everyday; one of the major grocery chain is located less than five miles;from the hotel; has an outdoor swimming pool; the coin operated washers and dryers are available; soda machine is in the premises etc.Local area: There are several very expensive hotels in the area as well as many commercial enterprises. For who like to go out to dine. There are many places near this location. If you would like to golf, it's less than 10 minutes from the hotel but very expensive (Golfing for two for 18 holes which includes the cart, and the golf bags are over $400.00 and the reservation is require).Internet connection: Excellent. No problem whatsoever. Will come back to this hotel again. No air-conditioner: Although there isn't air conditioner in the room, during our stay in this motel the ocean winds blowing through the rooms made us felt comfortable during the day. Location: From the hotel room, we are able to see the Islands of Lanai and Molakai and is located about 45-50 minutes from the Kahului Airport.

Best deal for your money on maui

I read all the reviews on all the sites and went into this with very low expectations. I specifically read a review trashing room 209 so when we checked in a I told them I did not want that room. No problem I had room 211 garden view reserved. As it turned out room 209 was an ocean view. I asked if they had an ocean view room available and the very nice front desk lady, Stella, tried not to smile when she said "Only 209." Then she made a very reasonable suggestion. "Why not just go look at 209 and 211 and then make up your mind?" That's the kind of place this is. A low key reasonable place with very helpful staff. So curiosity won out and we checked out both rooms. I do not know what Pea hating princess trashed 209 but they are nuts. No it wasn't the Ritz Carlton but for a budget ocean view room it was perfectly fine. We spent every morning having breakfast on our balcony looking at the ocean then walking downstairs and snorkeling in the ocean. We have reservations to do a 2 bedroom in January and asked them which rooms would be better to request. In typical low key easy to work with service the maintenance man Martin took us to several vacant rooms and let us check them all out. Service wise, these folks are not going to hold your hand and cry because there is a stain on a corner of the carpet or because Maui gets hot, but really they will bend over backwards for any reasonable request. Drama queens should pay for the Montage, the common man will be just fine. Location wise, its awesome. Try to get a room on the north side. Those rooms get more wind flow because the wind tends to blow n/w to s/e. Room 209 for example was on the south side and due to the U shape of the hotel the wind was blocked which is why folks complain about no wind flow. all 2 bedrooms are on the good side. You should know that this is a private condo building and each unit is either managed by Aston or Castle or they manage it themselves. Our was through castle. Not sure how much that matters. In short, beach front, ocean view condo, with a full kitchen in Maui right across from all the shopping and markets for about $150 per night? How can that go wrong? Just relax and go with it. Give Stella and Martin a smile and they will take great care of you.

Beautiful view, dated rooms and exhaustive heat!

First, the good:The view! This is the least expensive ocean front view I found on Maui, during my search for a room. And, the view delivers. The ocean front rooms are just a few yards from the water, with view of the distant islands. You can walk to the water and wade/snorkel. Like a few beaches in Maui, it is not sandy, but still beautiful and shallow. This is a condo. You have a full refrigerator, and oven and burners to do your own cooking. If you are in Maui on a budget, this can save quite a bit of money. They are located next to a park. Within a short drive to Lahaina. And walking distance to a small grocery store (and very good deli) and several shops/restaurants.So, you are reading this and wondering why the "poor" rating? I almost rated average, however... the bad:The heat was sweltering, during our stay from 9-19 through 9-27. There is no relief in these rooms. We had the floor fan and the ceiling fan on full blast, during our entire stay. We tried leaving the balcony doors open all the time, and also tried only leaving them open at night, with the fan blowing in. No relief. I have heard people talk about the trade winds, when they try to justify no air conditioning for some Maui hotels/condo's. However, if you are in a second story room, and the temperature outside is 89 during the day and 76 at night, what temperature do you think it will be inside? It felt like a sauna 24/7 in that room.No services. And I mean no services, at least the way we booked. The person at the front desk registered our car for parking, That was all they could help us with. Some of the condos (most?), are run by a different company than the one watching the front desk. So, if you ask for an extra fan, or have a question about the wifi password, or have a problem with your room, etc., the front desk will tell you to call the people you booked through. This phone number sends you to their registration, which is not even located on the same island. So, you can imagine what help they were with those questions I had. This is more like a rental house, with towel service. They should make that clear while booking. While the outside of the hotel is nice, and their garden area in the middle is nice, the rooms are very dated. The one we stayed in, the screen door for the balcony was so rickety, it came off the track every time we opened and closed it. The locks on the balcony, the same thing. Cracks in the paint and worn carpet, and fixtures. I have stayed in budget hotels before, and this is on the lower spectrum. So, would I recommend staying here, even with my over-all rating? If you are impervious to the heat and humidity (I know some people are), and you don't mind the dated and wearing rooms, and you won't need services on site, then yes. It is nicely located and one of the best prices you will ever find for Hawaii ocean front.

Nice spot

Nice little place. Next to a public beach. Unit didn't face the ocean but did have views of the mountains and a green area. Pretty water feature in center. Pool and hot tub by ocean. Next to active road. You can hear cars pretty regularly but not enough to detract from the experience.
