Hyatt Regency Maui
- What's Included
I will not return to this Hyatt Maui Resort and Spa for the following reasons;ROOM SERVICE1) Room Service agents were extremely rude, kept asking me while I was ordering "is that it, is that it.." basically rushing us non stop as they were busy, horrible experience each time we called and we called and order numerous times, to also include getting our pizza order entirely wrong even after the horrible customer service.2) My son called room service as we were at the pool, he advised when he called to order just french fries that the room service agent made it VERY clear that SHE was doing him a favor by "allowing" him to order french fries as it was only 1:00pm, she further explained as that SHE was "allowing" him to place this order, that SHE was making an EXCEPTION for him, UNACCEPTABLE.POOL1) We reserved a pool cabana, number 4 to be exact, and pool agent ANGEL was very nice and cordial HOWEVER, there was another older darker gentlemen, maybe local, also did have gray hair on the side of his head, also a turquoise shirt, probably the pool manager I am guessing that came by and started scolding myself and my girlfriend about WHY there was a lounge chair between us and pool cabana 3. This guy also even scolded and lectured the family next to us in pool cabana 3 on why the lounge chair was there, we were all speechless, and I paid money for this treatment? To clarify, the lounge chair between our pool cabana 4 and pool cabana 3 was there before we even arrived, this pool manager or whoever this guy was should just have said "excuse me, would it be okay to remove this lounge chair as we aren't able to have them near the pool" and be done with it, but NO, this guy came over guns blazing and just let loose on all of us, UNACCEPTABLE. We were down there on Monday 3/20 and at the pool cabana between 10:30am and 1:30pm.ROOM1) Water in the shower was luke warm at best, water never got hot, the lighting was also very poor, very dim, almost dark, just outright unacceptable.2) NO refrigerator, just a "cooler" as mentioned in the ammenities, this "cooler" was tiny, could barely fit anything in there, cooler also barely kept anything remotely cold, all while next to the cabinet where this cooler was, was another empty cabinet space where you could have had a nice miniature refrigerator, and for the price of the room, this "cooler" was unacceptable.VALET1) The valets were very nice guys HOWEVER, when we went to the valet booth on Monday 3/21 at around 2:15pm to get our car, the local lady in that booth was more interested in talking story to her employee friend that was behind the booth. We stood there for a few minutes before she stopped and look over to us, did not say one word, extended her hand and took our valet claim tag, again said nothing, and went back to gossiping with her employee friend, UNACCEPTABLE, and I was furious. To clarify, it was even more shocking that the other employee lady standing behind the valet booth SAW us standing there waiting for service or even acknowledgement, and made no mention or said anything to the valet lady to turn around and help us, UNACCEPTABLE.CONCIERGE1)We had a discrepancy with the pool cabana we reserved Monday night, and whoever my girffriend called at Guest Requests Sunday evening was very rude as well, rushed her, and kept giving her the run around as he was more interested in getting off the phone with her than helping her locate and reserve a nice pool cabana for us that we wanted.2)We someone was given the wrong pool cabana, so we went to the Concierge in the evening around seven thirty or so and the Caucasian lady that was to the left of the two is who we spoke to, she was CLUELESS, and provided NO help in helping us change or network our pool cabana location, to only say over and over again that she doesn't know anything, doesn't know what pool cabana numbers are where, and that she has no idea who to call to get it changed, UNACCEPTABLE as far as Concierges go.*A POSITVE note is that Waynette, TITA as she explained her name was in the Regency Club was amazing! She is really the only positive comment we have about our entire trip, treat her well as she is what made our trip at this Hyatt better.
The hotel is lovely, and the people are so welcoming and accommodating. We had breakfast buffet one day which had anything you would imaging to eat but it was a little pricey for the two of us so we ventured out the rest of the stay. The grounds are beautifully maintained and they even have tropical penquins! We ate at the steakhouse Japango one evening it was great, had reservations but still had to wait a while but the weather was nice and just sat and enjoyed the fresh air. They upgraded our room to an ocean view because of our anniversary which was very nice. The room was on a corner which made for a weird layout but had a lovely view and you could hear the ocean which was relaxing and nice. had great wifi, never had a problem. The pool was always busy so we did not spend much time there as the weather was cool and cloudy most of our stay. Would stay again for sure. The valet and the bell persons were friendly and always willing to help out. It was a trip I will never forget!
Our first night we arrived and were happy with the room as we were completely exhausted from our 12 hour flight from South Carolina. The next day we noticed some strange stain on the wall in the restroom. As we continued to notice things in the room it was very disappointing to us the standard that we typically expect from the Hyatt was not upheld at this resort. Stains on the lampshade next to the bed, stain underneath the bathroom sink, stains on the curtain leading to the patio, broken screen door, wet spot that never seemed to dry on the carpet, and honestly the worst allergies I have experienced in my life only while in the room. The regency club honestly continues to shows how little a person who stays in your hotels over 60 nights a year is thought of. I have had better breakfast at $99 Hyatt place then I had in the regency club. I stayed in Chicago for valentines day at the Miracle Mile Hyatt. They provided breakfast at the restaurant within the property that for a average guest would have been $30 a person. I couldn't even get eggs each day as it was some strange quiche that was the only hot dish besides oatmeal available at the regency club. Cookies and Pie during dinner time. Very poor selection. The property itself is beautiful although our room was directly over the Luau so from 5pm-8pm that's all you will hear. The hotel experience. The worst I've ever experienced at any Hyatt location. I knew after reading reviews on TripAdvisor that I should be concerned but by then it was too late I had already paid for the trip through Orbitz along with my flight. I even reached out to the Hyatt property manager as I did not want to travel this far and my wife or myself be disappointed who assured me my room and stay were going to be perfect. I picked the Hyatt because I was expecting the same standard I have seen everywhere else. Needless to say very very disappointed. Honestly would have changed hotels after the first night if I did not book through Orbitz and wasn't locked into what I had prepaid already.
We went here on our honeymoon and they had outdated rooms, nice location and facility on the beach but the room was very uncomfortable could not get down below 75°. Had maintenance out there several times and he finally said this is the eco-friendly hotel and it's hard to get them below there. I cannot be comfortable and sleep in 75° with humidity. When you're not comfortable but does not make for a pleasurable stay.
We stayed in the villas at the Hyatt, Kaanapoli in March. The rooms and view were awesome. The room was a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with complete amenities. It was at least 1800 sq. Ft. The resort has beautiful landscaping and pools and even has an adult pool. There are bbq areas if you choose to eat in. The drawback is the lack of a restaurant or bar, but the kitchen in your room and an ice chest can rectify that hiccup. The resort is high end, so is pricey, but the beach, location, and sunsets are well worth the price. We will definitely return.
