Great place to stay .

Wonderful place to stay. They really seek to capture the essence of the Aloha spirit. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food on the buffet and at three Tiki area. Room was large and comfortable with lovely island decor.

Off Beaten Path, old Lahaina feel - nice change from overpriced, overdecorated, overly-tourist/crowded other hotels!

Would go back. clean, comfortable beds, ceiling fans a plus to be able to move the air around at night. Front desk staff upgraded us to a better room without our asking for it, FREE nightly entertainment that was FABULOUS, FABULOUS coconut lattes. When we moved on to another hotel later in the week, we'd still walk over a mile to get our coconut lattes! Decorating is not current; yet the hotel, lobby, rooms have a nice old, un-commercialized feel. Don't know how else to explain it.

A real Hawaiian experience

Just spent a week here with my whole family. I specifically chose this hotel because it prides itself on being Hawaii's most Hawaiian hotel. The spirit that lives here in the staff and the nightly Hawaiian entertainment was terrific. It is clean, if a bit dated, especially the bathrooms, the food was very good, but I will happily go back again if possible. The nearby Whalers Village was a bonus too as it was within quick walking distance.

True Hawaiian home away from home!

From the minute we checked in, the hospitality and Aloha spirit were incredible. Everything about this hotel is true to Hawaiian culture. The rooms were a little dated, but extremely clean, spacious and comfortable. We were very pleased that we attended the welcome breakfast and information session. Small pool, but the beach was breathtakingly beautiful! Gorgeous grounds and daily Hawaiian culture classes and demonstrations. Departure ceremony was very touching and made you feel like a member of the family. Visited some of the nearby properties and while they were nice, they felt as if they could have been in Mexico, Caribbean, etc. (nothing distinctly Hawaiian). If you want a heartwarming, authentically Hawaiian experience, this is the hotel for you!We will definitely visit again, without hesitation.

They were really annoyed with us

These guys didn't let us check in because I admitted that I had more that two kids with us. It was really stressful for my wife and myself. And I can understand where they're coming from. What made it extra hard was their attitude towards us. They weren't nice about helping us find a larger room. They just acted pissed off, like we had been trying to cheat them out of a room or something. Anyway, over the 4-5 nights' stay, it was a required upgrade of over $1,000.Thanks, Kaanapali Beach Hotel! And Alooooooooooooooooha!
