Disappointed to start

I have stayed at this hotel probably 15 times over the years. We reserved an Ocean View room, and because we were prior guests we get a free upgrade. The week before we arrived I sent 2 emails requesting the Kauai Bldg, and an upper floor. Arrived and they had us in another Bldg and on the first floor. I was really mad. First of all, we went to watch the whales and you can't see anything from the first floor. Second, they could have contacted me and worked out something different. After a lot of hassling, we ended up with a first floor room in the Kauai bldg. for the 1st night, and then they moved us to the 6th floor, which was great. Over the years, the reservations group has just not done as good a job as whenwe first started to visit. Really disappointing. If you go and want good rooms, send emails and call before you arrive.

Partial Ocean View might not have much view at all

I booked a room for my sister at the Kanapali Beach Hotel for the annual family trip to visit my father, who lives on Maui. We like to try different hotels and have different budgets, so I stayed at a different hotel. Wow, such a difference in hotels. I will post a photo to compare views. The room above (sister's) cost $75/night MORE than the room below (mine). They advertised her room as partially obstructed ocean view. Ha! I wouldn't stay at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. It's just not as nice or friendly as any of the other hotels I've stayed at in Lahaina. But the beach is nice for snorkeling.

Maui heaven

We just recently stayed in Maui at the Kaanapli Beach Hotel. If you are looking for a great Hawaiian experience with friendly service this hotel is for you. There is nothing fancy here but you will get great service, comfortable rooms and the best beachfront of all the hotels. The food is good and the nightly hula show is pure fun. Our only disappointment was the inability to reserve a king bed which was frustrating.

Broken Promises

Poor Customer Service. Booked a partial ocean view room with a king bed. Upon getting to my room, I got a Double Queen room. Called the front desk, and was told by the Duty Manager that "There are NO guaranteed rooms" and that maybe? They could move me later? Because they were fully booked. Half of the rooms lights in the 4 buildings were dark the entire night. Needless to say, never gout the room I paid for.NEVER AGAIN!

Love this Hotel!

This is our second stay at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. The Hawaiian spirit is felt though out the whole hotel. Grounds are beautifully kept with amazing views. Short walk to the beach, black rock, and whalers village shops and restaurants. Quick 10 minute drive to downtown Lahaina. Kid friendly with a passport to collect stamps, learn their Hawaiian names, and participate in activities. Rooms are simple but clean. The daily breakfast is convenient and delicious. Don't miss the welcome and departure ceremony!!!
