Kaanapali Beach Hotel
- What's Included
I'm currently staying at the hotel in room 460 of the Kawai wing and I'm slowly being driven insane so I felt I should leave a review. We arrived from the east coast the night prior and so we went to bed around 10pm local time due to jet lag. My wife falls asleep very easily, I unfortunately hear noises and it keeps me up. This is where my recommendation comes into play. When staying at this hotel and if you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the elevators. I lay here writing this review instead of sleeping in a jet lag induced state of coma, because it sounds as if someone is walking outside our room with a chainsaw. I would bring this up to the hotel however I don't feel like waking my wife up to switch rooms in the middle of the night. Thankfully, one of the two elevators is down for maintenence or else I might have to sleep on the balcony. So to summarize, just save yourself from being like me writing this review and ask for a room away from the elevators. Also if someone uses the vacuum outside our room at 8am again (happened our first morning) I might reach a new level of insanity.
The hotel is actually on Kaanapali Beach so it's only 2 minute away from the beach. It has a large courtyard so there is a lot of green for kids to run around. The restaurant serves good food with live show at a reasonable price. The free breakfast with introduction to activities on the island was a little surprise, but not annoying. Parking is convenient too. Rooms are little small and bath tubes look a little bit worn out. Other than that we have nothing to complain, particularly if you think of the price :-)
I haven't stayed at this hotel yet my stay is not until January, however I decided to write a review because the room reservations department helped me tremendously with my booking. Costco completely messed up my itinerary and the kaanapali beach hotel took the problem straight on and handled it themselves. The Manager went through all of the inventory to make sure that me and my future husband could get a room our whole family was staying at this hotel and we were the bride and groom of the wedding that was going to happen on this vacation. They only took about a day to figure everything out and I'm so thankful that they went through their system to look for a room for us. I'm looking forward to the stay there because these people who I have never met we're willing to go through all these things to make sure I had a room for my wedding because of a mess that that happened on Costco's end.
The hotel was older. Maybe 35 years. The staff was friendly enough. We were guided to the time share salesman when we arrived which I did not appreciate. The beech was small. The bar did not really face the beech. The room was musty when we checked in but they brought us a air freshener. The view over the parking lot was ok but we were 9 stories up. The grocery being across the street was nice as well as several restaurants. Kitchen was minimal. Bathroom was large. We had a 1 bedroom. Would rather stay at Weston but it's more expensive. Glad we did not get trapped by the time share people. Pool was nice. Really nice to be able to walk the board walk along the beach south of the resort. Could walk to Duke's which is very nice. Being able to walk this walk every day made the week. Also our view from the 9th floor was nice. In shade, could see the beech somewhat and the mountains.
1) Staff is highly demotivated. You feel it the moment you walk-in, no one smiles!2) The rooms are old, the buildings ancient, the bath rooms tiny, the shower/basin/floor unattractive, the pool is poor, I can keep going on3) The food at the breakfast restaurant- strictly average4) We were given wrong keys when we checked in, room wouldn't open, had to walk back to the reception for new ones5) Then the WiFi password was incorrect so had to go get a new one.6) Someone from the staff walked into our room with HIS key without knocking!!! This was the last straw. We marched to the reception and to apologize they gave us an upgrade to a better room. But this was too little too late. Please skip this sham of a property and spend your hard earned vacation elsewhere.
