Kaanapali Beach Hotel
- What's Included
Location was amazing my 13yr old grandson loved the green space and the comfort levels here. Everything was situated well and just steps to the beach! Great staff always willing to help and had a smile. Using the Tiki beach hut was easy and people are easy to work with. Location, all rooms have a balcony or lanai. Great for views! Ask for the Oceanfront room AMAZING!
We arrived on Sunday, November 12 for a week. Older property, but well maintained. Stayed with my wife and 11 year old granddaughter. Room was clean and spacious, grounds were well kept, pool was nice and the beach was outstanding. Service was great with everyone going out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Lots of activities to keep my granddaughter entertained....good Hawaiian culture shows....great luau too boot. We will definitely return!!
The good: location on the ocean. Restaurant food, evening show, mature trees provide great shade, mature vegetation. Patios in room. Tiki bar Mai Tais. Black rock snorkeling is close. Whalers Village shopping and Restaurants close by.The bad: bell staff was no help unloading, no carts available for guests for bags, poor internet service, no microwave, very small bathroom. Very small coffee maker with only one night coffee provided, warning sign about ants and bugs coming in 1st floor rooms. No hot tub.Overall a great location but rooms are dated and need improvement.
My husband and I stayed here for our first visit to Hawaii. My BIL picked the hotel as he and my sister would be joining us later on the trip. The hotel is a good value and in an excellent location. I paid for a room that included a car rental. The hotel made the rental process very easy and I had no problems picking up and returning with Budget. Parking in the garage at the hotel was simple and there was always parking available. The hotel grounds are very nice and make for a relaxing vacation. They have quick service food, an outdoor bar, and a outdoor restaurant. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The bar made good drinks and didn't skimp out on the alcohol. The quick service food was okay. The pool is very small, but is in the shape of a whale. Our time was spent at the ocean so this was fine for us.The hotel is right near black rock where you will find excellent snorkeling. We were able to see turtles swimming from the beach! Out the other direction is Whaler's Village for excellent shopping and restaurants. Not to mention access to the other hotels in the area and their restaurants. All staff members we came across were very friendly. Never had a problem with any employee. Always with a smile and an aloha. We were in the 3 story building with no elevator. If you cannot handle stairs be sure to tell them when you book. You can get staff to help you take luggage up/down the stairs if needed. (Their other 5 story building has elevators). We were told when we checked in this building had recently been renovated but I'm not so sure about that. It was older feeling. There was no actual bathroom door and just a sliding door that did not close all the way.The rooms came with beach towels, a TV, a safe (key), WIFI, coffee maker, and mini fridge. The only negative thing about this hotel was the bugs. And when I say bugs I mean cockroaches. Everywhere. My husband stopped counting after killing 7 of them. On our last morning when we went to pack to leave we found a baby one at the bottom of the cup our toothbrushes were in. Yuck! Are cockroaches a major problem all over the island or just here? If it wasn't for this I would have gave the hotel 5 stars.
This was our second visit to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel and will not be our last. From the moment you drive up to this charming hotel, until you step inside the lobby, you are transported into another time. Everything is Hawaiian and beautiful. We had a lovely large room with 2 double beds, that was also decorated with a Hawaiian motif. Besides the air conditioning, there is a ceiling fan which we only used at night and was sufficient. As we were here for only one night, we quickly made our way to the pool. There is a nice-size pool in the shape of a whale. There were plenty of lounge chairs around from which to choose. There is a bar and snack bar near the pool and a server walking around taking orders. There are various ‘Hawaiian’ activities such as hula lessons, lei making and even ancient Hawaiian painting. There are also activities for children. We didn't want to leave the property so we had dinner in the hotel's Tiki Terrace. There is a good selection on the menu. There was supposed to be a luau on the premises, but because of a big traffic accident, it was cancelled so the Huli Huli pig was one of the selections. That is what we chose and it was very tasty. There was a big portion of the meat with BBQ sauce and passion fruit glaze along with vegetables and yummy garlic mashed potatoes. We also had a delicious garlic roll and butter. We started with a Lava Flow drink, a Piña Colada and strawberry purée combination with light rum, coconut syrup, pineapple juice half a banana and strawberries. It tasted like an alcoholic milkshake. Yum. We skipped dessert but they looked great. A wonderful buffet breakfast was included with our room with a huge selection - fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, breads - including a fabulous pumpernickel rye bread, cheeses, cold cuts, hot and cold cereal, blintzes, pastries, cold salmon, baked mahi mahi, pancakes, two types of sausages, a delicious quiche, meatballs, fried rice and roasted potatoes.Right after guests check out of the hotel in the morning, there is a special ceremony where each guest receives a beautiful kukui nut lei. When they return to the hotel on their next visit, they bring the lei and a special white nut replaces one of the brown nuts, to signify that you are a returning guest. Every time you return, the hotel adds another white kukui nut. I saw guests with many white nuts in their lei, signifying that they’ve been to the hotel many times. It’s a lovely custom.Everyone is very nice here and very welcoming. We didn't think we would ever come back to Maui but after staying at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, we can't wait to return.
