Kahana Reef Condo
- What's Included
Location: Oceanfront in Kahana and 53km from the Kahului Int'l Airport.
This is an older condo the temperature in Maui is perfect this time of the year for the Kahana Reef. The day time mid 70s and at night hi 50s but with a great breeze. I mention the age and temperature first because there is no AC. That is not a problem our unit 316 my be older but clean and well provisioned. The King bed is new and very comfortable, my wife and I very picky about where we sleep and on what. After 15 minutes of checking the mattress and outlets for bugs ' there are none ', went went to bed and slept for 8.5 hours the mattress is perfect The cool breeze and the sound of the surf right in front of our balcony is amazing. Just look at the photos of the first night sunset and the AM rainbow. The ocean is fifty feet from our balcony and you can wslj to tje beach, to say nothing of the free parking. The view is priceless. The price is great and so is the management company, Maui Condo and home, LLC.When we woke up the first morning, checked the Condo, there were three small problems, needed an iron, a bulb in the bedroom end table lamp and the flat screen in the main room was not working. One call to Maui Condo and they answer the phone evertime and right away. Their staff is pleasent and want to do nothing but help. My wife and I went to the store and by the time we got back everything was fixed.Great company is excellent, Condo is fine and the best ocean front location at the best price. Will be coming back to Maiu Cond & Home for Maui Trips.
Stayed at Kahana Reef for 4 nights during our Hawaiian vacation. All rooms are oceanfront and the building is literally feet from the ocean. It's Rocky, but it's right there!! Beautiful view of Lanai and the water. Condo was very clean and updated. Obviously very well taken care of. Free parking and laundry facility on site. Nice quiet building as well. Absolutely loved it!
We spent a week at the Kahana Reef and enjoyed ourselves so much. It is a very quiet and relaxing condo area. We were ocean front, all the units are, so couldn't get much closer to the beautiful sounds and sights of the sea. There is a swimming pool, but not really any beach access, unless you want to forge thru the coral rocks to get to the beach a few places away. There is also a barbecue area, and the units have a full kitchen.
Don't know how the other units stack up, but Unit 215 (book on VRBO - Unit #655588) is perfect for a couple. We watched the sunset from the lanai almost every night. There's not a ton to do in the town of Kahana but it's only 10-15 minutes from Lahaina & Kaanapli to the south and 10 minutes to Kapalua to the north. We're not sit by the pool (or sit around the room) people so for us the pool and the fact that it's not right on a beach didn't matter. The beach next door is quite nice. There were beach chairs, snorkeling gear and boogie boards in the unit. The owners were fabulous. The price was very good.
We were very excited to get to Maui and we didn't let this awful condo ruin our time on the island. We booked through Travelocity, which showed us beautiful, renovated, modern condos with granite counter tops and black/stainless steel kitchen appliances, flat screen TVs in both the living room and bedroom. When we arrived we didn't see any of this. We got in after office hours so we had to use the phone at the door to dial out to the off-site office to get our room assignment, from a manager we never saw once our entire week stay. We got into the condo and the floors were dirty, and the walls were still plastered with old, yellowing, peeling, horribly scuffed up wallpaper. The only TV in the condo was an 10-15 year old gray box with a built in VHS and DVD player. No flatscreens in sight. Then we discovered the disgusting dirty mop water that was still in the sink. Also that there was an electrical outlet over the sink that didn't have a face plate on it. The side of the fridge over the counter (old 80s laminate that smelled of mildew and age) was completely covered in rust. The microwave was from the 70s easily. The only updated appliance in the kitchen was the electric stove, which at the bottom there were chunks of tile missing where it was supposed to meet the floor. And when I say the floor was dirty, I mean our feet were black by the end of the first night. There were holes in the walls where things had formerly hung and the walls were poorly patched over (over the wallpaper). There was no TV in the bedroom. The walls in there were also completely scuffed up. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING. The only source of air circulation is 2 ceiling fans, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The base of a floor lamp in the living room was completely oxidized due to the humidity. There's obvious water damage all over the place. With how close (it was a ground floor unit, #102) it was to the sea wall, we knew it had flooded a few times in its existence. The patio furniture was completely rusted and peeling of its paint. It looked like it had been there since the property was built. The screen in the sliding screen door was torn and the track is most likely rusted due to humidity. The cabinets were old and not hanging right on their hinges anymore and the door of the pantry looked like a huge piece had been chewed off. The wood in the counters and cabinets was extremely warped. The only fully renovated room in the condo is the bathroom. But what we got was NOTHING like what we were shown. False advertising. The view was breathtaking but we will not be staying here again. Didn't think it would be playing Russian roulette with these condos.
