- What's Included
We have stayed at Kamaole Sands two years in a row. Last year as a couple in a great 1 bedroom unit, and this year with the kids in a 3 bedroom 3 bath unit. Both were fantastic. Units vary greatly because they are individually owned. Some owners maintain units themselves, and some use the management of the resort. Check reviews on individual units as much as possible to have a positive experience. I can attest to an excellent stay in 5-412, comfy beds, plenty of space and well provisioned. The grounds of the resort are gorgeous. The pool is wonderful. The location couldn't be better -- right across the street from Kamaole III. We enjoy staying here, and will undoubtedly stay again and again.
My wife and I found ourselves having to provide room service the instant we arrived. We found dead beetles, dirty carpet (especially under the furniture), and room was crawling with tiny ants, spiders, and geckos. Not what we expected. We ended up having to spray all the sheets with bug spray before we went to bed and still found bug bites on our legs and arms. Only positive thing from the place was the friendly, quick, and informative concierge that provided helpful tours in which we considered just to get away from the room. It is fairly close to the beach and other stores and have multiple exits so getting away and not "sleeping in" was easy.
Beauty resort, across from a great big beach, local amenities for restaurants groceries etc. Best part amazing staff. Shout out to Sherrie for the late nite help. On site facilities including tennis pools and bbqs
The apartment was very big and there was a big terrace with a view on the beautiful garden. It was very clean. The beach is just in front of the hotel. The swimming pool is big except that the employee at the bar does not seem happy to work here. Very nice place to stay with a family.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom ground floor unit in building 5 for 6 nights. The good:-Location is great- directly across the street from the beach, short walk to main strip of stores/restaurants.-Grounds are lovely -Staff and security are quite friendly. They do have a lot of rules like quiet time after 10pm and no glass bottles by the pool which are strictly enforced (so if you are coming to party late, choose something else)-Pool and grill areas are good-Parking located directly in front of unit in an assigned spot-Kitchen is reasonably well stocked to make full meals for everyone and have plenty of glassware, flatware and silverware for our group of 6.-Maui is amazing. If this accommodation was in a lesser setting, I'd probably be giving 1 or 2 stars. The bad:-Ants. Like seriously- see photo of window sill in the main bedroom. All those black dots, yup, each one is an ant (so probably a few hundred total including the floor and all the other ones I cleaned up inside the window sill too!). I noticed ants on the floor the first few days, then went to turn out the light on the bed stand and was pretty grossed out. We purchased some ant traps and duct taped the wall crack where we think they were coming in. It's better 2 days later.-Cockroaches. 2 were killed in the main bedroom. They were small, but still- roaches! One of them scurried out from under the locked 'cleaners closet'-Some silvery smooth small bugs crawling around the 2nd bedroom. I don't know what termites look like....-Dated furnishings and fixtures. I wouldn't normally mention this, but maybe it's contributing to their bug problem? Or maybe the whole building needs to be fumigated?-There are a bunch of notes telling you how to avoid bugs (mostly obvious stuff). Seeing bugs so early during our stay in a room that never had any food/drinks, I think this is a unit/building issue and not something that we brought in.
