Unfortunately our trusted travel agent booked this condo for us. On entering our unit for the first time I was grossed out by how dirty the front door was, there was a sign on the door asking visitors to remove their shoes as it is Hawaiian custom, I wish washing their doors and walls were also custom. Our suite was furnished with old furniture I'm pretty sure was from the 70's, the kitchen and bathroom cupboards were also old / original. On our last day I was searching for a lost item & picked up a pair of underwear from under a stool in our bedroom (I assumed it was my husbands) but (shutter) on closer inspection they were not his! We paid good money to stay there and were charged a cleaning surcharge on our departure. We were invited to a free continental breakfast on our first morning.... a quarter of a muffin & black coffee is not breakfast, it was just a way to get you to the pool to sell you tours! Security staff were rude.I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone, ever! The only reason I give 3 stars is because the pool & hot tub were enjoyable & it was close to the beach.
I have stayed all over the place and kmow that no vacation is completely perfect but I havent even left yet and feel the need to warn people about this place before they waste their money. We arrived on Sunday and were put in pur first room which was disgusting to say the least. Each room is individually owned so you cant completely fault them for that but I believe there needs to be a better standard in regards to the shape the rooms are kept in. The room wouldnt have even been a 3 star in the best situation. Anyways, they moved us to another room which was a little better as this one at least had an air conditioner in each room......welllllll ive been in this room for 3 days now and the air conditioner hasnt worked properly once. The maintainance man came yesterday tonfix our broken closet (i didnt call them about it so they must have just have known) he fixed the broken door but the clothing wrack is still dangling off the wall....guess he wont be fixing that....also he left me a note that said "air conditioner maintenance is suppose to be coming to fix you r air conditioner today" ....they never showed up yesterday so my husband called the front desk and said that he was still waiting and they had no idea what he was talking about but said that if thats what the note said then someone should be coming....they never came....so its now 5pm the next day and no one has still showed up so ive been calling the front desk over and over and over and no one is answering.....thats AWESOME. I also need to mention that im 8 months pregnant.....this is horrible customer service and please please please do not come here....once they take your money they dont give a crap how your stay is! Stay anywhere else!! Im hoping someone from the resort will see this review and actually send someone yo fix my a.c... Im im building 3 room 301....
This is our second trip to Maui and wanted something different than the Wailea experience. Decided on a condo-rental in Kihei. Kam Sands was good in that it was across the beach, walking distance to a couple of restaurants and convenience store but it could have been great if our condo unit was more inviting, modern, and well kept. We kept the place neat but was still charged $150 cleaning fee....funny, no one ever came to clean up during our week stay. The $35 registration fee was greatly appreciated for use of pool. I supposed we could have bought groceries for a bbq but everything was so expensive at the nearby grocery store. The condo felt old (we stayed in 4-209), everything was old. The units was in the back and had a view of the mountains. The cabinets were falling apart and the bedroom curtains looked like they've been there since it was built. The kitchen was adequate and I appreciated the tupperwares for left overs. They provided a single-use bag of detergent on the top of the stacked washer/dryer. Although thankful they were provided but the beach towels been used too many times and the boogie board seen its last wave. Truly loved the special touch of books, CD's and kids movies for entertainment....only if the remote control worked for the TV. The clock also never changed time (who wouldn't love time standing still in paradise) but it was because the battery was dead. By the pool, we can gaze into other the units, and thought that if we spent another $500, we could have had a better stay not dreading have to go back to our unit. Don't worry Kam Sands, we're headed back after we save another $1000 for a top notch unit.
First things first, the condos are individually owned and so no two condos are the same. My family stayed in 2 condos on the 4 floor, which have a spiral staircase to the main bedroom. It was set out really nicely, with a balcony overlooking a waterfall. The condos are just over the road to a beach. Had we realised how many fish and turtles there were, we probably wouldn't have booked a snorkeling trip and saved the money! In fact, boat trips turned up every morning off the coast, so clearly they knew his good it was too.Pool was lovely, BBQ area was really nice. I wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.
Travelers be aware of this property if you are staying only one night or two. We initially booked a day and decided to extend our stay for another day. The booking was completed online. Upon we checked-in the general manager charged us an additional $150 so called cleaning fees aside from the room fees. We barely stayed in the room and left most items in room untouched. There was only one single use decaf Coffee in room and the house keeping never came during our stay. We regret not chose to stay at those 4-star hotels for the same rate but much quality service at least.
