Everyone loves Hawaii and we are no different when it comes to choosing the vacation destination. We love Maui so much that we go there again and again... and a big part of that is the Kapalua Villas where we get quality space (all villas are around 900 sf or more), quietness and ocean for our whole family at a more than decent price. We stayed at various villas in the resort and all were well appointed - fixtures, furniture, beach necessities, kitchen stuff, etc. And I need to also mention that all owners or property managers have the Aloha spirit pat down!
Amazing views, beautiful ocean view ridge villa it really is paradise. The daily drive to Lahaina was picturesque, something my wife and I will truly miss. The $25 a day charge for wifi and a shuttle I didn't see anyone use was extortionate and don't get me started on the $160 check out charge.
Great setting and property, but the villa where we stayed was in need of an update...old screens on the inside with shutter exterior, dust and even dirt on window ledges...Nice setting, but the condo owners need to step up and invest if they want to maintain this as a premier property. Also, golf is the focus of the resort, an FYI for non-golfers.
We arrived late and noticed a mildew/moldy smell in the master bathroom/bedroom. First thing the next morning, I attempted to open the slider in the bedroom to air it out. The door was off the track and I could not get it to budge. It’s a good thing there was not a fire overnight and that was my only way out. When I called the front desk, she informed me that neither maintenance nor house keeping was there yet. My husband managed to eventually get the door back on the track. I’m just thinking maintenance should make sure all doors and windows are in working order before renting a property out. I also think that for a facility that charges a mandatory $160 cleaning fee when you check out should make sure the units don’t smell like mold when they finish cleaning. They ask that you shut the a/c off when you leave. I think the fan should at least be left on to keep the units from smelling musty given that the humidity is so high here. No one ever called back during the week to see if the problem had been resolved. There were ants in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed was not very comfortable but worse still; the pillows were flat. I had to use two just to make it as thick as a normal pillow. The bedding was less than luxurious. It looked old and was thin.We were disappointed that there were no hot tubs at the swimming pools available for us to use.It took two days for us to figure our way around. The signage is terrible and one way roads; leaving a different way than you enter made finding your way around incredibly confusing. Also, there was a step at the end of the sidewalk leading out to the parking lot. The step was painted white underneath so if you were walking into the villa, you might have noticed but there was nothing to indicated a step on the top so that one might notice it when walking out of the villa. I did not see the step and fell and sprained my ankle. My trip was over. They really need to paint a bright yellow or red stripe on the top to indicate there is a step there. Not all of the villas had this step and we generally entered from the covered parking along the L-shaped sidewalk where there were NO steps. We had to drive to the beaches around the property as they were not really within walking distance (particularly with a sprained ankle) if you are taking chairs, a cooler etc. If you are looking for convenience to the beaches, restaurants, shops etc., this probably isn’t the place for you. It’s pretty secluded. Overall, the villas are not one of my favorite places that I have stayed at.
We (2 couples) stayed 3 nights in a 2 bdr apartment. Staff at the reception was very nice and helpful and ultimately we also got an upgrade to a better room category. The apartment was huge and clean.Every restaurant we have been at in the resort was excellent and the beaches nice as well. Also the resort is a good home base for the various attractions Mauis west coast has to offer. We can recommend the resort without reservations.
