This place was a nightmare! Please stay AWAY. The grounds are beautiful, but the villa was infested with roaches. The floors were dirty and and everywhere you looked it was two inches of dust. I called for maintenance to fix the screen...they just removed it. I also called to have them bring the stopper to the bath and they never brought it. I wish my family and I have NEVER booked our stay with The Kapulua Villas.
Our week-long stay at the Kapalua Villas was a bit of a mixed bag. There were many positives, but there were also a few things we found to be inexcusable about our stay in 34-G4 (Building 34, Ground Floor Unit 4)……POSITIVES:• Plenty of space for our family of four• An indoor and outdoor dining table for four• A well-stocked kitchen (glasses, plates, cutlery, cookware, etc.) made family meals quite easy to prepare. 34-G4 had a large refrigerator, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, and toaster which were all in good repair.• Sundries were provided (shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent)• Plenty of towels (bath towels and pool/beach towels) for a family of four• Immaculately clean gas grills were available poolside for guests to use• "Free" Wi-Fi (actually part of the obligatory resort fee) was strong and fast• Plenty of unassigned parking• Easy access to Oneloa BeachNEGATIVES:• We paid quite a bit for a “Gold Ocean Front” upgrade (about $100 per night more than the ocean view villa). “Ocean Front,” however, is a relative term for the Kapalua Villas’ management and is apparently open to broad interpretation. Most reasonable people would consider many of their “ocean front” condos to actually be “ocean view.” Needless to say, we were very disappointed.• 34-G4’s air conditioning was pitifully anemic! The condo's A/C could never cool the unit below 80 degrees for our entire stay (not good when the trade winds aren't blowing).• Many windows did not open and several of those that did open lacked screens. The kitchen window did not open, which made it unbearable while using the oven.• The water heater provided only enough water for one person to take a five-minute shower before going cold. This was absolutely unacceptable!• The master bedroom’s king-size mattress was EXCEPTIONALLY uncomfortable and in need of immediate replacement. The queen-size sofa bed’s mattress was, as expected, a typical sofa bed mattress (fine for our teenage sons, but unacceptable for anybody paying to stay in the condo). The pillows were flat and in need of replacement as well. • The main room sofas and mismatched outdoor furniture were all functional and reasonable comfortable, but they should be replaced.• Unlike other condo rentals we have had on Maui, beach chairs, an umbrella, etc. were not included.• Resort Fees and Cleaning Fees: Although the Kapalua Villas are upfront about fees, it still feels like we were nickeled-and-dimed when we were charged an additional $364.57. Why not simply build these fees into the nightly rate?Would we return to the Kapalua Villas for our future vacations to Maui? Unless the shortcomings I pointed out are addressed, it is unlikely. There are other options in the Kapalua/Napili area we will likely explore.
This place is great. We had a condominium which would sleep 4 comfortably. Full kitchen for cooking at home or restaurants within walking distance with great food. There were three golf courses available for those who play. Several swimming pools for relaxation.
We stayed at this resort for 7 days last week and found the villa to be very clean and comfortable. The grounds are breathtaking and the resort as a whole is beautiful. The only major issues is that they offer a lot of amenities but they are not included in your daily rate. The daily gym is $65 and Tennis starts at $35 per day for rental of the court. They do not offer early check in or late check out. We used the Ritz Carlton Gym for $25 per day, which is on the property down the street. They do however have the resort shuttle services that is included in your daily fee and is needed b/c this place is huge and walking everywhere would be tiresome. The shuttle will take you to over 4 beaches that is nearby with one being directly on the property. I would recommend the Kapalua Villas Maui, but just keep in mind your daily fee only includes use of the villa and the small pools that they have offered for each set of condos. (There is a Aquatic center that is free in Lahaina which is huge, if you are in need for a larger pool).
If you like a quiet vacation and far from noise, this is it! Gorgeous golf resort, great villas and beautiful apartments. Is a great family stay, as the apartments are self sufficient with everything inside. If you like making your own food, this is for you. There are also few restaurants around but you will need a car to move around.
