- What's Included
We have stayed here for the past 5 nights, it's very comfy, a few things could be fixed in our 2 bedroom golf villa. The sliding door needs fixing, delapidated lounge room furniture, but comfortable. Bed not as comfy as our last stay in Kauai. A few bugs, but we are situated on a golf course so that could be the reason. Kitchen a very equiped. So easy to get a courtesy bus, just ring and they're there. Only thing with Hawaii is the tipping, makes it quite expensive to holiday here. Us Australians are not used to this. Always fees for this and that.
We stayed for 4 nights in the Golf Villas in a Gold 1 Bedroom Partial Ocean View Villa 20 T-7, which was amazing. Great view across the golf course and the ocean beyond that. The inside was very well maintained, clean and felt new, and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was great, shower was huge, and you can never go wrong with a double vanity. Balcony was huge, and great for enjoying breakfast in the morning. In fact there was a second smaller balcony facing the opposite way as well! We had access to four small pools in our area, two within a 1 minute walk, beach was probably too far to walk with a three year old. The resort shuttle was excellent, very quick and reliable to get you around. The General Store is well stocked and the prices are quite good given it is in the resort so you can cook or buy pre made food if you want. If you want to explore out of the resort you will need your own car, however we caught the bus to Lahaina and that was very easy, with the bus stop right outside the General Store. Like others have said, I feel the resort fee could include more or at least a larger discount for the spa, or even just the gym section. Also it would have been nice to have an option to hire bikes to ride around. it is very hilly in places, but would be a nice option for some short trips or to visit other villas. I would definitely return here.
My family and I have been to Maui six times and have stayed at Kapalua gold Fairview golf villas five times. We have loved staying here however since our last visit in 2014 they have gone downhill. The resort fee doesn't really include anything. Before you could go to Spa Montage for free, now is $55 USD/day. International calls to Canada were included, now its only local calls. The resort fee really only gets you a discount to the golf course ($25 off) and the shuttle around the area. They also changed it so there is now a mandatory check out cleaning fee. For two bedrooms it's $220 USD. On top of that, no housekeeping services visit your room! We're here for two weeks and if we call for clean towels they charge you $60 per visit! To completely clean your room (ie. new linens) its $100+. They expect you to go to the ABC store and purchase laundry detergent and your own toilet paper. I think this is ridiculous. I will definitely go elsewhere for our annual trips to Hawaii. This is why Airbnb or VRBO may be a better option. The hotel staff are wonderful (super friendly, accommodating) however the new policies from upper management are quite disappointing and I would rather take my family elsewhere.
We stayed at the Kapalua Villas Maui for 2 nights and wished we had made it for 2 weeks. It was brilliant. The villa overlooked the golf course and beach. Was very tranquil. There was a lot of bird life and insects around. Do need your own transport so that you can explore other villages around this one. They are all very interesting. They provided a very efficient shuttle service to the local village. Would highly recommend this Villa for a nice relaxing and interesting time.
The location of our ridge villa was wonderful - stunning views of the ocean from the balcony. That needs to be said first - and also the fact that there are gorgeous beaches just a 10-minute walk away (or a few minutes drive). We also liked the shuttle service - very prompt and a super-convenient way to get to the beach since there is not much parking at the beaches. And the villa certainly looked nice as well - we were in building 29, villa #2914. The problem was that there were many problems in the villa which should not have been problems in a gold level villa. Old lumpy pillows and an awful sleeper sofa - happily, Darrin at the front desk sent us six good new pillows right away, and also sent a topper for the sleeper sofa. But then on the second day, we discovered that the kitchen faucet tap had been put in backwards and almost every time we used the faucet it leaked water all over the counter. We had maintenance staff come out twice for this and other problems - including a garburator that stopped working - but unfortunately these problems in the kitchen were not resolved and in fact although they tried to fix the garburator, it was worse after their visit and yogurt spewed up from the garburator and covered my husband's shirt on our last day. As I mentioned, we called about these issues twice during our stay, and I did talk to front desk staff at the end of our visit about the problems we encountered, and we were given a small credit plus they waived the $175 cleaning fee which we appreciated.
