The unit had a musty smell, that to me is somewhat expected being on the ocean. The unit was clean with the exception of needing a new shower curtain due to mold. The pool, hot tub, and barbaques, were cleaned every morning. As far as the beach was concerned you really don't have control over the ocean and how the beach looks, it was a very small access but not terrible. I would contact the conciere (sp) prior to going as she can get you some fantastic deals on local adventures.
This is the worst place I have ever stayed in. The rooms were filthy, smelly, & we could not wait to get out of there! Since we were only staying 1 night thank god, we left without talking to anyone as no one was there. There price quote of $115 per night became $301.68. Over priced & nasty!
I've stayed at a few different condominium complexes around Kihei and this has been my least favorite. The beach it's on is so disappointing. It's rocky and full of dead broken coral. I never even got in the water because you can't see the bottom and you'll probably cut up your feet on all the ruble. The only people using this beach were a few windsurfers. Every other beach I've been to in Kihei has soft clean sand and crystal clear water. This complex is right next to a drainage ditch. The water is murky and the sand is not nice. Even though this complex is on the beach side of the road, I'd rather stay further south where the beaches are significantly nicer even if that means staying across the street from the beach like I've done in the past. You have to stay across from Charley Young Beach or one of the Kama'ole beaches to experience the postcard worthy world class beaches Maui is known for.So I couldn't use the beach here and the pool wasn't great either because it was so full of debris from the trees. They mow the lawn more than they clean out the pool. One day I saw the lawn being mowed twice by two different guys. Also, they don't turn the hot tub on until 4:00 pm. It is quite small and everyone that's been waiting hops in as soon as it turns on so it's too crowded to enjoy.I used one of the washing machines and all of my clothes came out with lint on them and what looked like a gross film. The dryer ate my money. We stayed in a one bedroom unit. It was quite small and noisy. You can hear everything going on above you and anytime anyone around you opens a patio door which happened at all hours of the night. Very annoying.
We booked our honeymoon plans and thought this would be a good value and we wanted to have a full kitchen. As soon as we arrived, we felt cheated. There was a bait and switch of epic proportions. The room we stayed in "205" was nothing like the pictures it was a smelly, outdated roach motel. We checked in at 2:00pm and we saw 3 dead roaches at the bottom of the dishwasher, I opened the fridge to find 2 bodies of roaches smashed into the fridge lining. We called and asked to be moved but they said they were had just sprayed and apologized but were not able to move us. After the 8th roach we killed, we called again to ask to be moved, they said they would send someone, instead of moving us they just laid roach bait. We saw 8 dead roaches in our counters for the next 5 days. Needless to say, this was a terrible place, terrible customer service, the front desk was helpful but they were not able to help us because they only work with the OUTSIDE of the room and the resort, NOT the room itself. Maui Condo was incompetent, and was not able to move us out of a disgusting roach motel. WOULD NEVER STAY AGAIN! Buyer Beware!!!
For us the condo experience was a bit different from the traditional hotel since the room appeared to be organized differently, in the sense that it 'forces' you to feel at home so your things get very easily scattered around lol... it was quiet and the desk staff was very responsive to our requests. The location is excellent because it's close to the airport and from there you can reach all other points in the island like we did when we went to the Hana Tour (amazing, very recommendable!!) and got to other locations such as Lahaina by driving and Molokai via helicopter ride. Austin the wi-fi guy was very nice when he went to our condo to find the wi-fi password for us (it had been set to the phone number by a previous occupant) and there he replaced an old DVD with a brand new Blu-ray player while he was giving us tour recommendations. The pool is very nice and the view from the lanais (balcony) invites you to sit there for a long time and feel totally relaxed. The beach being at walking distance is worth mentioning as well as the amazing sunset views you get while being there!
