- What's Included
OverviewLocated across the street from the best swimmable beach in Kihei, the Kihei Akahi is a fantastic value with comfortable accommodations. Spacious rooms & great location make this condominium resort a Canadian favourite.
Location: On South Kihei Road, across the street from Kamaole Beach Park II. Approximately 30 min from the Kahului airport.
The Kihei Akahi was fantastic. Nice size condo and the beach was across the street from the complex. The condo in which we stayed D107, had every amenity you might need. Lots of plates, cookware, dishwashing liquid, soap, laudry detergent. The outdoor patio offered nice seating and a beautiful grassy view. There were beach chairs, plenty of beach towels, sand toys and even extra totes to take to the beach. We were very pleased. One item that might be a negative for some is that if you are on the second floor or higher, you must empty the pan under the wall air conditioner. It was exceptionally hot during our stay - 91 degrees - so we were forced to empty the water 2 - 3 times a day because the air remained on all the time. However, if you go at a cooler time, you can easily open the screen door on the patio for the trade winds and turn off the air. Also, if you need air in the bedroom, there is only a ceiling fan. The air conditioning is in the living room and a wall unit. I am always warm and brought a small table fan which made sleeping much easier (I use a fan no matter where I am). There are several restaurants within easy walking distance. We will rent there again. We were very pleased.
I stayed in A-102 a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath townhome for 5 days. It was big and roomy which is what I wanted. It was me and my friend and we each had our own room. My room had a king sized bed which was really comfortable. My friend's room had 2 twins and she said that they were comfortable too. The living room furniture was a little dated and lumpy. Everything else worked properly. The kitchen was well stocked which we didn't use but the only thing we did want to use (coffee maker) there were no filters and I had to make a run to the market first thing. One of the 4 beach chairs was broken so make sure you look at it before you take off for the beach. It is next door to Moose's and Fred's which is nice for a quick bite. Since this was a short trip, we barely left Kihei and could have done without a car and used the bus or Uber. Kamaole Beach 2 is right across the street and it is a great beach. We spent most of our time there. This was not the nicest condo that I have rented through vrbo, nor was it the worst. It was average.
It is located across the street from Kamaole Beach 2. There are lifeguards on duty at this beautiful sandy beach with areas to snorkel and view sea turtles and fish. We rented a 1 bedroom condo with a great view of the ocean and mountains. This complex is well maintained with pretty tropical landscaping and two great pool areas with BBQs. The office staff were courteous and helpful! I would return to rent a condo at Kihei Akahi but not one as close to the elevators.
A 40 foot tall palm tree dropped a frond and shattered my windshield on July 1st. I live in the tropics and these things don't drop on their own - it takes a good 5-10 strikes with a sharp machete to bring them down. These trees are right next to the pool and if your kids get hit they're looking at a concussion at best and a broken neck at worst. Managements response was it's an act of god - but god didn't make them not pay to have their trees serviced and god didn't make them not callback with a resolution for two weeks and counting. Sure it's a more affordable place to stay but when people can't even offer condolences when their negligence helps ruin your trip and have the audacity to blame god, and the lack of caring to ever follow through. I'd suggest that the $600 it takes to fix your vehicle be spent on a place that does basic maintenance. Otherwise it could be your loved one or child bleeding out on the ground from another "act of god." There's a different condo every 50 feet in this part of town - do yourself a favor and walk the extra 50 feet.
Small Studio with full kitchen, washer and dryer, pool, across from beach. It's all you need for a stay. The only thing is that I had to check in at two different places, that was kind of a pain... but that's it.
