I booked this specific complex through a travel agency but did not find out the unit assigned until 2 days before leaving. Before arriving at the hotel, I had my concerns as the one review from the Maui Condo app I downloaded 2 days before leaving was not favourable regarding the unit F-208 at Maui Kamaole. However, since there was only one picture and that was the only review I was hoping it was a one-off. Definitely not the case.Upon arrival, the unit was very disappointing. It smelled musty and stale and was extremely hot. The first thing I saw was a note that to use the stove I had to switch the breakers on and off as if the breakers were left on, the oven would remain warm. I was travelling with 2 young children and this is a huge safety issue. When we went into the main floor bedroom, I checked under the bed (again because I have two young kids and wanted to make sure it was safe for the week) and found a used condom wrapper and a peanut and peanut discards. That is absolutely disgusting. The sheets were worn and the mattress appeared old. When my child went to sit on a stool at the kitchen counter and the top of the stool was not secured and exposed rusty screws when moved. When I went to get off the couch, I discovered the arm was loose and again screws were exposed from the couch.Other issues with the condo were an abundance of dust. Everything was dusty from lamp shades to cupboards to the TV components. Things that should have been white appeared black because of the huge layer of dust. The loft bedroom has staining and crusty carpet in the closet and extending out from the closet from what appears to be an old leak from the hot water tank in the closet. The closet door was broken. There was carpet missing along the wall. There was gaps between the air conditioner and the wall. The main floor bedroom fan was also quite loud with a continuous knocking noise. We ended up leaving the condo within 3 hours of checking in. Until this condo is upgraded, I would not stay here. If booking at this complex, BEWARE of this unit.
Overlooking the ocean from our balcony, surrounded by bird songs. Our unit (J220) is perfect for 4 people and it is nicely appointed. We started in unit B215, which had a similar layout but was not quite as nice. But the main thing is that it smelled like smoke in the living room, which triggered my friend's asthma. However, the rental company was SUPER helpful and found us another unit - I was really impressed with their concern and how they handled the situation.
We stayed in a one bedroom, two bath condo in this complex. It was very well maintained, with the exception of the carpet that felt as if it could use a good cleaning, and it was stocked with everything we needed, including beach towels and laundry detergent. The location was perfect - right across the street from the beach and relatively central to all the places we wanted to go. And the price was right for a condo on Maui. You could pay a lot more and get something more luxurious, but this was perfect for us.
We rented a two bedroom in the J building and loved it! There was no ocean view, but the lush landscaping made it feel like paradise. We were close to the pool and away from the road. It was full of families, but no late night parties. We never heard any noise from neighbouring units. The unit itself was perfect for our family. Fully loaded (everything you could possibly use in the kitchen plus everything you needed in the storage for the beach). Even beach towels and a sun hat for me!
This was our first trip to Maui and are so very happy we stayed at K207 at Maui Kamaole. Our family of 5 (3 kids under age 7) stayed in K207 for 7 nights in November. The unit with 2 bedrooms, and 2 washrooms was spacious. The beds were soft and very comfortable. In contrast to other units that have a thatched fence overlooking the living room from the loft bedroom, a safety issue for our toddlers, this unit has a solid wall with high enough windows that they cannot climb. My kids really appreciated the island decor throughout the condo. We booked directly with the owner, Douglas Clayton and he was very responsive to any concerns we had. The grounds are beautiful and spacious, unlike other condo rentals that are strictly building and sidewalk. The units are well laid out so you are never looking straight into someone else's unit. From the lanais, you are surrounded by lush tropical vegetation so it really made us feel like we were on vacation. We were steps away from the swimming pool that was never crowded, the kitchen window overlooked the bbq which was used perhaps once by someone else other than ourselves during our stay, and the parking lot was also steps away. Given the proximity of all this, you would think the noise was overwhelming but this is a quiet complex which I would say is suited for families with young children and those who enjoy a glass of wine and a good book in the evenings. It's dead quiet by 9PM. If you open the bedroom lanai, you will get the noise from the swimming pool's waterfall but that actually worked well for us as white noise for our toddlers. K207 is further back in the complex and about a 10-15 minute walk to Kam 3 beach with the kids. We didn't mind this because the kids saw birds, geckos, lizards and hibiscus flowers aplenty along the path down the hill - that made for a nice walk. But if you are carrying a lot of gear or have a stroller, this is not convenient as there are stairs. We were especially delighted with the "sport locker" with snorkeling gear, boogie boards, beach umbrella, mats, toddler toys so we did not have to pack or rent them.
