We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo at Maui Kamaole and it was very quiet and relaxing at this resort. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to hang out while in Maui then this resort is wonderful for that. The grounds are well maintained and there are 2 pools to choose from. The condo itself was nice, and they had boogie boards, coolers, towels, umbrellas and everything you need to head off to the beach! If you are looking to escape the hotel craziness then this is a nice place to stay. We have a child, so we found it a bit quiet for meeting other families although, there were a few families around. The property is not right on the beach, although is across the road from one. For us, we found proximity to restaurants etc to be quiet close, we ended up driving a lot of places. To the beaches, restaurants, coffee shops etc as there is no restaurant on site. If you love hotel living, then this may not be the place for you. In Kihei there are amazing beaches nearby and tons of cool snorkelling spots. We found we drove a lot and probably would have preferred a location right on the beach.
Our ground floor unit H-111 had everything we could want, including a great selection of beach toys, chairs, snorkeling equipment, even a pool noodle. Our boys played at the local Kam 3 beach and at the pool and loved it. In-unit laundry was very useful. Unit was very clean and nicely decorated and has a quiet, private lanai with a partial ocean view. Loved our stay here!
We typically stay in Kaanapali or Kapalua when staying in Maui, but when traveling with friends on a budget, we switched it up and picked Kihei. WOW is all we can say.The experience was so much better than hanging around the touristy part of town. The beach was great, the local restaurants were fab, (don't miss Maui Tacos and a must, Fat Daddy's BBQ). The area of Kihei has plenty of bars and restaurants and the food was always great. Rented the condo in Maui Kamaole, from vrbo.com, and it was fabulous.
Ok so, we had a great stay in Maui in general. That being said I would caution anyone with children against this place! The set of rules is 5 miles long against kids having any fun whatsoever in the pool! This is a 50+ community and perhaps couples but not for kids. They say good for kids but you will find exactly opposite that! We travel extensively and are in the airline business and will not choose this property for vacation in the future. We will be sure to notify all of our travelling friends not to use as well. No games, no playing, no use of any toys, no calling out, no anything! Major killjoy! Stay away!
This property is close to the southern end of S. Kihei Road, on the doorstep of Waialea. Much quieter and less strip mall infested than most of this busy beachfront road. The grounds are on a slight rise, very beautiful and well maintained. Nice pool and barbecue areas. Lots of friendly residents and staff. Many of the condos have a sweet ocean/sunset view, especially in upper units or up the hill. Short walk to 3 pretty nice public beaches, and a short drive to some that are very special. Most good restaurants are either a long walk or short drive. 5 Palms is less than two blocks away, though, and happy hour is nice price. Our condo was much less pricey than Waialea. We rented from friends, but I have seen similar price points on Groupon/Travelzoo type sites. There is a $40 charge for parking (total for our 10 night stay), but if the condo owner doesn't use his slot, or includes their car when you rent, all the better. We enjoyed our spacious deck with awning and roomy well-kept unit with full kitchen. You will probably pay a cleaning fee and maybe a damage deposit. You will have to work out maid service. We had none,, but that was fine. The only negative was that in our unit, the master bedroom was in the loft section, which always seemed stuffy and hot during our stay. The ceiling fans and the 3 small Air conditioners seemed helpless to create consistent and comfortable temperatures in our condo. We often slept in the small bedroom downstairs, where we could shut the door and cool things down for a relaxing sleep. The condo you rent may not have this issue, but you would be wise to ask. This was generally a peaceful place to stay except one Saturday night when a resident hosted some sort of drunkathon till midnight. All in all, a very nice facility and a good vacation buy in this area.
