Do not stay in I(i) 214. I was so disappointed with this condo unit. Was filthy dirty, layers of dust on lights, curtain rods, ceiling and walls. Beds are old and uncomfortable. Bedding is old and stained. I did go buy 4 new pillows for our stay as the ones there were old and flat. Cutlery was old and rusty. If you don’t mind staying in mouldy filth by all means rent this unit but you will be paying the same rate as other renovated units. I did make a formal complaint to Maui Condos and they agreed the place needed a renovation. I’m not sure who is responsible for maintaining the units, the homeowners or Maui condos? It is very clear this place was ignored for years. However, I will say the property is quite lovely, and conveniently located.
Cockroaches infestation, deteriorating conditions at the Maui Kamaole F-209 townhouse. While I understand Hawaii is a tropical island hence there will be roaches, I’ve never encountered anything like this (I’ve been there 6 times). There were at least 10-12 crawling on the kitchen counter when we first checked in. We contacted the owner and they called in for a pesticide spray while we stayed at the place, exposing us to harmful pesticide. During our entire stay, every time we were at the apartment we saw at least a dozen cockroaches everywhere. Jim denied there were any reports of cockroaches however we found a bottle of Raid cockroaches spray in the closet. He had workers and electricians coming in and out of the place, disrupting our stay. No relocation offered, we were only compensated a mere 5% before tax of our entire week’s rental. Lesson learned for not booking thru vrbo or other reputable internet companies, there’s no recourse nor accounts of responsibility. You are SOL. The chandelier light was dangling by an electrical cord, lights were not working. We wouldn’t dare to use the spices in the spice rack. The owner wanted to accuse us of breaking the chandelier hence not returning our $200 security deposit. We did finally manage to get it back when he found out it was not our fault, but thru lots of emails back and forth. Email replies has been slow to non existent. Avoid this town house to save yourself stress and annoyance.Other than that, the grounds of Maui Kamaole is well manicured and clean. It’s walking distance to kamIII beach. South Kihei is usually my choice to stay when I’m visiting Maui.
This is the second time we have stayed in MK and would definitely stay in this unit again. It is in a great location with the pool very close with no noise and also close to the road with a short walk to Kamaole 3. The condo is a large ground level 1 bedroom with a lot of beach gear available to use. It was nice to have a full kitchen with a lot of equipment even though we did not use it much on this trip. The patio was very private overlooking a grassy area but with no view. We love to walk the beaches and went North and south. It is a short walk to 5 Palms and also close to Fred's both offering good times with Fred's being a little more economical. 808 is a good restaurant right behind Fred's offering something between the two already mentioned. There are a lot of activities to choose from and over the years we have done a lot. This year we took the Circle Island helicopter tour and it was amazing to see the island from the air. There were more turtles at Kamaole 3 then we have ever seen before. The unit had a combination door lock that worked great and you never had to worry about keys. A great place to holiday and we will be back.
We normally stay elsewhere in Kihei but needed to make other arrangements with only two months notice. We stayed in M105, at the far back, near the tennis courts. The apartment was comfortable. The second bedroom was small and had no windows, but was good enough since we spent little time in the apartment. The lanai (patio) was quiet and comfortable, but with no view. The unit was well equipped with beach chairs and two boogie boards. YMMV.It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the beach from there. (Not bad.) One of the two pools is very near. The pool was pleasant, with lots of chairs. We spent a couple of afternoons there.I would consider staying here again, but there are other good options for similar prices nearby as well.
Absolutely love staying over here in South kehei. Our condo is right by great shops and restaurants. And also by convenience beaches which are long and breathtaking. The condo provides us with all The necessities of home plus all beach gear which is amazing and saved us a lot of money. I wouldn't stay in a hotel on Maui ever again.
