Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Maui Kamaole. We had been to Maui in July and stayed at the Maui ElDorado in Kaanapali , unfortunately it was sold out so we decided to try staying in the Kihei area this time. This property has some great features, it is in a great location and the landscaping is beautiful , very tropical. The 2 pools are great, we spent all our time at the Tropical pool as it was right by our unit. We enjoyed Kam 1 Beach and we never found a problem getting a parking spot in the lot beside the ABC store across from the beach, we found Kam 3 beach too rocky, we also had a great day at Wailea Beach which was equally beautiful. I would not recommend this resort for anyone with mobility issues as depending what unit you are in it is a steep walk up the drive way and through the grounds and too far to walk to the beach if you have all your gear. We stayed in Unit L209, it was fairly outdated , but had a nice view of the gardens and a partial oceanview because it was so far up the hill. As a travel agent , I am always thinking of what can be done to make guest's stay more comfortable. In this case there is some feedback I would like passed on to the owner as I think it will really make a difference. Beach towels would be nice, there were 2 really worn towels, but we needed to bring white bath towels to the pool and beach, some of these towels were in need or replacement as they were quite dingy and even though I washed the towels daily they still have a musty smell. The mattresses and pillows really need to be replaced the bed was so hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were thin and lumpy with a sweaty smell. I could almost overlook all of this, but the thing that needs the most attention is the ant problem. From the time we checked in and all through our stay there was ants crawling on the kitchen and bathroom counters and well as around the washer/dryer area. We had to put all food in ziplocs to ensure it didn't make the problem worse. We would stay at Maui Kamaole again, but would not recommend this unit until these necessary changes are made. As far as the great debate, Kihei vs Kaanapali....Kihei and Wailea had the better beaches and the location was great for shopping at Target, Walmart and Costco. Kaanapali is great because of it's proximity to Lahaina, we didn't enjoy the drive up and down the mountain every time we had to drive there from Kihei, especially at night. Shopping was great at Whaler's village , especially since the renovations are completed. We also went whale watching twice which was amazing with Trilogy, I have a separate review on that. All in all another great time in Maui and we will be back
This was our first time in Maui. The two bedroom condo had big spacious Hawaiian style bedrooms perfect for our family of three. Clean and perfectly furnished with comfortable and ethnic furniture. Got introduced to lots of beautiful Hawaiian music and played them from the CD's provided by the owner. It was truly a beautiful experience as the Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole sang in the balmy summer evenings. Tried my hand at the ukelele hanging in the living room. Open concept kitchen, very well equipped with a large fridge.Comfortable and airy master bedroom on top floor with a large bathroom with stand in shower.Beautiful view of the garden below and sea from the lanai with breakfast in the mornings. Sandy tropical beaches just across the street for endless romantic walks. The place also had a lot of beach stuff, chairs, mats, water shoes, lots of things for kids to play in the sand with.Lots of eateries closeby. Would definitely stay again.
Maui Kamaole is a perfect spot to stay in Maui. The grounds are well kept and the pools are clean. The condo units are individually owned so some have been updated while others have not. The original unit we were assigned was dated and had a major ant problem. Expedia and the reservation personnel at Maui Kamaole were able to move us into an updated unit with less of an ant problem. We paid extra for the ocean view but the garden units had a similar view. Would. It bother with the ocean view next time as the condo is right across from the beach. Overall, my parents and I enjoyed our stay. Would definitely go back.
We stayed in K cluster room 204. When you rent, you don't know ahead of time which unit you will be in, but the whole complex is so nice! Our unit was remarkably clean. There were all these extra amenities that were so thoughtful for a beach area vacation rental - beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, even a beach ball and blankets for when it's cooler at night. It is so much better than staying in a hotel where you only have the tiny fridge and no prep space. We had fruit from the farmers market and yogurt every morning. . . yum! There are two pools available on the property and the area around the pool was very nice and well kept, and I think there were flowers on almost every plant on the property, and there were a lot! We loved our time there, it was soo relaxing. Thank you, Maui Kamaole staff!
We stayed in G204 with relatives and it was beautiful. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a great view of the ocean and right across from the boat ramp. Great porch views, not far from the pool. The walk into town is about a mile, but we were not far from the beach parks.
