Maui Vista Condo
- What's Included
This is our 3rd time staying on the property and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kihei. Every Building has it's own pool and tennis court. And it's right across the street from the Charlie Young Beach park. There are plenty of places to shop and eat up and down North And South Kihei Rd. All the people at the real estate company that run the property are helpful and polite. And they are available 6 days a week. Unlike the actual front desk. You need to leave a $20 deposit in cash for the key to the tennis courts and another $20 for balls and rackets, but they give it all back to you when you return them. We stayed in 1102 this time and I really enjoyed being in the ground floor. Tennis courts out the front door, pool right outside the back. It was another great, affordable stay in paradise!Also-wanted to comment on a comment I saw that wasn't true for me. There absolutely WAS recycling. No paper-which was weird. But for plastic, glass and cans there was a separate recycling bin. I know because the 1st time I went out there to empty my trash I had to pick all my paper out of my recycling and throw it in the garbage. So they DO have recycling there. And 9pm seems like a totally reasonable time to shut down outside activities IMO because 9pm is LATE in Maui. The sun's been down for hours at that point and it's either 11 of 12 where we come from. And so many people staying there are travelers. On the ground floor, I was certainly grateful there weren't people outside allowed to chop it up and drink and party when we were trying to sleep. Overall, this is a great place to stay.
Maui Vista unit #3403 is a great 2 bedroom two bath condo. The condo was very clean, nicely decorated, spectacular ocean view and on fourth floor. We took our 15 year old grandson so we really enjoyed the central Kihei location. It was directly across from Charlie Young Beach Park which was a great life guarded beach.
We were in building 3, which seemed to have the least amount of guests. Since we were lodging through VRBO #734029 (not a stellar accommodation) I will comment only regarding the resort. The resort is conveniently located, close to both the south and north Kihei beaches. Be aware that the North Kihei beaches including the Cove, which is a major beginner surfing beach beside the property, are said to have effluent from a wastewater treatment plant (search it). The resort grounds are well kept; there is free parking for one vehicle per unit (most of them are on sunny locations, which heat the car to unbearable degrees, so one has to be aware of the sun’s path and trees in order to find shade during the day). Cons: 1) Very small pool, rather hot tub type (we did not use it), 2) The shut-off time for the BBQ located in the common area is 9pm, which is too early and does not allow leisurely preparation of dinner after enjoying the sunset at the beach (the beautiful red colors show at around 7 pm and one can easily stay and enjoy the warm weather after 7:30 pm), 3) Does not have paper and plastic recycling, so all these gallon-size jugs with drinking water and boxes with microwavable food go to the landfill, unless you drop them off at the recycling center nearby (it is close to the Hope church off the highway). This speaks volumes about how much the condo management values the protection of Maui’s environment, which brings the tourists… and 4) Does not have composting bins, so all food scraps also go to the landfill. It is inexplicable that the island of Maui is so behind on the green initiatives with which we are so used to and it is an island that will be influenced by the rising of ocean level and climate change! I was expecting that they would be a vanguard in this respect! So disappointing!
Excellent location, just a short walk to the very pleasant Charlie Young Beach. Easy access by car to all of South Maui. I'm sure the condition of individual rooms varies, as these are independently owned condos. My comments apply to 1308. The bed was a little firm for my liking, and the A/C was very noisy, so there was no danger of it being overused. The kitchen was well appointed and had everytrhing we required. The ice/chilled water from the fridge is great! All said and done, a lovely experience in Maui.
My wife and I just spent a week in Maui celebrating our 22nd anniversary. We stayed in 1304 at Maui Vista and absolutely loved it. David is a great host. Fresh fruit, coffee, water, and chocolates. Chairs and umbrellas for the beach were very handy. The condo was furnished nicely and is located right across the street from Charlie Young beach, Sunset every night, The birds were our wakeup call. (recorded them so I can hear it every morning). We will be back for sure
