Maui Vista Condo
- What's Included
My husband and I spent several weeks there December 2017-January 2018. The unit was nice enough albeit a bit small and not very clean when we got there. It took him the better half of the evening to clean it to his satisfaction. The front desk was closed “due to illness” when we got there and unable to provide us with details about where to park et al. The few times I went to the office with minor question such as “how do we access the pool?” They didn’t know told me to contact the owner. The other guests staying there were all old and Canadian (not that there’s anything wrong with that)On two occasions when I was at the grill area (only one was functional) upon mentioning I was there with my husband, and not the presumed wife/girlfriend/concubine, I was immediately shuttered. Mind you they asked with whom I was on holiday. I’ve never had this experience at any of the other places I’ve stayed on Maui (30+ times)My advise to anyone that’s not a “aged heterosexual married couple” staying at the Maui Vista is to not interact with the other guests or office personnel.
Dec 2017We were quite disappointed with this unit in Maui Vista at Kihei. As soon as we entered into this unit, we found that 1) the electric stove was not cleaned but making black fumes when turned on; 2) the coffee maker was leaking brownish liquid; 3) the refrigerator door could not close well; and 4) the vent in the loft bathroom could not be turned off. The good thing is that the rental manager quickly remedied items (1)- (3). However, it mentioned that the vent was centrally controlled and could not be turned off. The last thing that deterred us from returning to this unit is that is infected by insects that look like flying ants. We took a picture and video of the insects (with wings) and reported to the rental company right away, because we were not sure what kind of insects we encountered. We sighted the insects on the dated carpet, climbing on the wall, around lamps, and in the bathroom. To our dismay, here is the answer from the rental company: “We apologize about the bugs you are encountering. The condos are sprayed on a Quarterly basis to help combat insects.” Therefore, no spray or any other insect control measures were applied during our stay.
Not only is the Maui Vista in a fantastic location (directly across from Charley Young Beach) it is very well maintained. There is pride of ownership with this property. We stayed in a fourth floor unit, that has a loft. This worked out perfectly for a family vacation with our son and his family. Even though our sleeping area and washroom was the loft there was great air circulation and we rarely had to use the air conditioner. I would definitely recommend this place. Each of the three building complexes has a double tennis court (very well maintained) and pool area. The only thing was missing was a hot tub to warm up in after hours of snorkelling!
Love the location of this property. It's a great place to walk to so many restaurants and right across the beach. During our last stay we had major issues with the owner (VRBO # 292391). The central AC unit had broken and he put a single AC unit in the bedroom. Per his rental agreement, they notify if there are outages. He failed to notify us of the outage ahead of our stay and then had all sorts of excuses on why he couldn't get another unit. He agreed to a 25% refund and then put a stipulation that we not speak about the issue publically if I wanted to get the refund. All of this could have been avoided if the owner had been a little proactive and notified us ahead of time that there was an issue or even left a note in the condo upon arrival. But there was no indication of an issue with the central AC unit and it wasn't until I sent the owner a mail asking him how to turn on the central AC unit that he said it was broken and not working. We know things go wrong with units in a harsh climate, but it's how someone handles the issue that makes all the difference in the world. Very poor owner and we still haven't received the promised refund after being home over 6 weeks.
I arrived in the evening and it was a bit of a pain to find but once there things relaxed..once settled the location made for an easy walk to stores and reasturants, the beach was across the street.the unit was clean, neat and large, never had any problems with internet connection, lots of parking but you may have to walk depending on how late you return daily..
