Napili Kai Beach Resort
- What's Included
I have been to Napili Kai 3 times and now it is the only place I would stay in Maui. The location is perfect - about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Lahaina and Kaanapali. Beautiful bay and snorkeling just a few steps from our room. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are always spotless.I recommend rooms in the Keaka or Puna buildings. The rooms are a little bigger, the views are great and the air conditioning is a must.Only thing I don't like is the concierge service offered. I never felt like I was getting good information or prices.
A nice resort with onsite restaurant and beach access. I believe one of the best little beaches. A good location away from Ka'anapali Beach. Their moto is "we don't nickle and dime you". True. Free coffee in the lobby every am. Beach chairs, towels, pool. We needed a baby bed and high chair and they were in the room when we arrived. Please note not all rooms have A/C so be sure to ask. Ours only had a wall unit while our kids had central air. Would stay there again.
This was the second place we stayed at when we arrived on Maui! We stayed her for 7 days. The 1 bedroom Oceanfront room was amazing!!! We had Puna 222. It had a FULL kitchen (full sized refrigerator is the best) to prepare meals. My girls had their own "wing" to sleep and shower. This place is one I will come back to next year and will stay another week. I'll be asking for this room again :). It is such a low key, laid back, true Hawaiian resort. Our kids ate free at SeaHouse (10 & 12) when we purchased a meal, so it was a great perk for us. We all loved the warm and calm waters of Napili Bay. Great for swimming, paddle boarding, snorkeling and body surfing! We did walk over to Kapalua Bay for an even more amazing snorkeling experience. The staff is wonderful, the pools were clean and there is even a putting green for putt-putt!Thanks for an amazing time Napili Kai!
We had a room in the puna point building! The room was spacious, clean, and well stocked. Plenty big enough for our family of five, and having two bathrooms was great! Our room had a very beautiful view, right above the water and incredible sunsets! Probably one of the nicest views from any room I've ever stayed in. Very private rooms on our end of the building. We could see sea turtles right from the lanai. We could also hear the music from Merrymans right next door- we loved it. The resort is very nice, but a little hard to get around. Many of the paths are closed and the tile floors are very slippery. The pools on the puna side are small, but usually very quiet and right above the ocean. I wish they had a larger 'resort' style pool and slide. Property and pools weren't a huge deal to us, but just our observations. We still really loved our room! The only real downside to our stay was that there was a scheduled roof cleaning on our last night there, so we couldn't use our lanai for dinner or breakfast the next day. This wouldn't have been a problem except that we didn't get any advanced notice, and were planning dinner on our lanai for our last meal (and had already shopped for it). The hotel staff were very apologetic and offered a discounted night. The beach is great and not overly crowded like Kaanapali. Snorkeling right off the beach is ok, but the next bay over there is a large population of sea turtles. A little trickery getting into the water there due to slippery rocks. I would definitely stay here again!!
I admit that I had my doubts about Napili Kai. It is not located in Wailea or Ka'anapali, where most of the other resorts are located, but a family friend told us this was the place to stay on Maui, so we decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we did. It was spectacular. We booked a two-bedroom condo (with air conditioning) in the Puna II building, which gave our family (of 5) enough space, and included a small kitchenette that allowed us to eat in at least one night. The condo overlooked the ocean, and we could sit out on the patio and watch whales, which was a treat. From a logistical perspective, I really liked the dedicated (and free!) parking right outside our front door. No valet or valet fees every time we wanted to leave. After spending some time at big resort on the Big Island, that was a nice plus. The beach is said to be the best on Maui, and while I am no expert, it was spectacular. Our kids LOVED swimming and playing in the waves. It can be a bit crowded, but we never had a problem. The Resort provided chairs and awnings (for a small rental fee, I believe). And, after paying a lot of money for a snorkeling / turtle tour at Molokini, we discovered that there are several turtles that live among the rocks right below our room and just offshore from the beach. We snorkled with them several times, and there were some great fish too. (I won't make the Molokini mistake again!)The Sea House restaurant was fantastic -- both for dinner and breakfast -- and my kids ate for free. And the service could not have been nicer.Bottom line, we absolutely loved Napili Kai and plan on going back next year.
