Napili Kai Beach Resort
- What's Included
Always look forward to coming back to Napili Kai. Have been coming here for years. It’s private, laid back, has the best waterfront bar on the island and great snorkeling. You can be on the point for great whale watching or down close to the beach. Don’t miss the Keiki Hula show. It’s nice to see the island culture encouraged by the the local kids.
From the moment Vince welcomed us to Napili Kai, we knew we were in paradise! Our accommodations were superb and the service provided by each employeewith whom we interacted was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the pools and putting green as well as the Wednesday evening mai tai party which was a great way to meet other guests, many of whom return annually.
Our first trip to Hawaii, and Maui our first port of call. Maui is laid back, quiet, idyllic. Travel tip though - if you fly in around 3-6pm, be prepared for a very slow trip from the airport to your accomodation. We stayed in West Maui. Napili Kai Beach Resort is “old Hawaii”, so think Hawaii in the 70s/80s. We loved it. Check in was friendly and efficient. Our room, just awesome. Spacious, well appointed and right on the beautiful beach. The kitchen was so large and well equipped, in hindsight, we would have bought our own food and made better use of it. Bed was super-comfy, we had air con, so this made for a restful stay. The Resort is a little way from conveniences. A general store is about a 15-20 min walk away, but be prepared for high prices. You need to shop closer to town for cheaper prices. The beach is amazing. Calm blue waters in a sheltered cove, it’s heavenly. Our only criticism is the restaurant, The Sea House. We loved this resort, so it pains us to complain, but it needs to be said. Food is good, but pricey. Waitstaff were friendly and for the most part, good, but the problem we had was with front of house. First night there, we fronted up for dinner (after a 9 hr flight, + 1 hr flight + 2 hr bus ride). Asking for a table for 2, the hostess chided me, saying “we usually expect a booking to be made, but I’ll seat you anyway”. We were so travel-weary, we ignored this rebuke, and enjoyed our meal anyway. On our last night, we dutifully booked our table for dinner, and arrived at 7:30pm. We were asked to wait for a table to become available. Since it was a rainy night, we accepted this, and stood waiting with several other people. We did note however, that there were a few empty tables. What really annoyed us as we waited, was that a party of 3 arrived, the gentleman said clearly “I have no reservation”, and yet these people were shown straight to a table before anyone else! There was no apology or explanation given to any of us who stood waiting, despite the fact that we had booked earlier. I’d still recommend Napili Kai Beach Resort, but just get a taxi to a local restaurant to eat dinner, and buy some basics for breakfast and lunch, using your kitchen.
We stayed 4 days in a room with garden view. Everything is easy here: nice beach, easy parking, a couple of eating choices, nice golf putting areas, decent pool. The hotel is well located around top golf courses and numerous dining choices.Nothing extraordinary but well put together. friendly staff.
Having spent many years traveling for business in the hospitality industry, I am a hotel snob so was not expecting to enjoy this property as much as I did. We had the most relaxing vacation here I think we've ever had. The setting is idyllic. The vibe, tranquil. The location, perfectly out of the way of busy Lahaina Harbor but an easy 20-minute drive away. We were in beachfront Lahaina 11 - a beautiful and impeccably maintained studio with HALF of a spectacular view. (See photos.) I cannot, for the life of me, understand why they have a "circus tent" right in the crook of beautiful Napili Bay?! I had to block it with my hand when I looked out from our lanai, and all of my photos are taken immediately to the left of it. It is absolutely an eyesore and because of it, I give this property 4 out of 5 stars. Otherwise, we loved it and enjoyed our stay immensely.
