Outrigger Palms at Wailea
- What's Included
We stayed here for 5 days and found the Condos very spacious and clean, yes they could do with a face lift but it was not spoil anything. You had everything in the condos that you needed but they drink a lot of coffee so take your own teabags! We stayed at the start of April so it is a bit quieter. The pool was quite small but the beach is only a 10/15 walk away. Book your excursions from reception as the lady is lovely and they do work out a little cheaper than from holiday company. The shopping centre is about a 20 minute walk. Cheeseburger restaurant is very good and reasonable in the centre and the supermarket is very good and does cheap breakfasts in a box which you can eat outside. Loved our stay will return
Recently visited this Condo Rental and was actually quite surprised. The condo was actually big enough for four to six people. There was a full kitchen with all cooking essentials. I would recommend you bring any spices etc. because there was only salt and pepper. I saved a lot of money cooking fresh food and had great family time since there was an open kitchen. The only downfalls were that the pool was constantly busy. They really should think about another pool on the property. It just gave us another reason to check out the beach that was only a block away and way less busy than the pool. It was beautiful and only a handful of people were there. The other was a weird charge to use the second a.c. in the condo (seriously)! There was 1.75 bathrooms and had 3 large sliding doors to let the outdoors in and enjoy the beauty. I would recommend this condo unless you plan on staying in and enjoying the pool! I really hope you don't plan to do that in Maui, one of the the most beautiful island I've ever seen.
This was our second and a much looked forward to trip. The resort has gone downhill since our last visit. The pool is much much much too small for the capacity of the resort. On 9 out of 10 days of our trip we were unable to find seats at the pool. The day when there were seats it was only because the pool was closed .... too many kids peeing in the pool. There are signs clearly stating "no Marco Polo, no balls, no flotation devices, etc." Well apparently people can't read or choose to ignore. We have been subjected to all of it for 10 days. Several calls to the front desk with responses of "quiet hours are after 10:00 or we will let the association know". To be clear, Wailea has a community association of which this resort is a member ... the association isn't going to do a thing about pool annoyances at any of the resorts, that is up to the property manager and clearly this one doesn't care. So we leave Maui frustrated, irritated and frankly annoyed with money wasted on a resort overrun by children, ignorant parents and management who couldn't be bothered to care.
The property is beautifully landscaped and offers a refreshing amount of privacy. Most units have an open floor plan and all have a ground level, or a balcony lanai, all with lounge chairs and an outdoor grill. I have stayed at the Palms of Wailea, several times, and each unit can vary considerably, in terms of furnishings, and the need for updating. The decor can range from modern and trendy, to that of an overstuffed, Polynesian trinket shop. The property really does not have ''ocean views', but more of a ''partial ocean glimpse'', if you are lucky. However, the sunsets are amazing! The location is convenient to shopping, grocery and convenience stores, with a wide selection of activities and restaurants. The Palms of Wailea, while definitely, not a luxury resort, is a good value for the price
If you want to stay in the quieter and "grander" Wailea but not prepared to pay the much higher accommodation prices than Kihei offers, this resort is a great compromise. Located at the north end of Wailea just before it morphs into Kihei, it provides facilities and prices between those of the fancy Wailea resorts and the more affordable ones of Kihei. Easy walk to the beach and to the beginning of the gorgeous beachside path that spans most of Wailea. The latter is perfect for a seaside morning jog in the hour before the sun comes up over Haleakala (gets a bit warm and busy after that). A short drive to the all the Wailea and Makena beaches. Really enjoyed their pool: small but very pleasant in late afternoon when you don't want to go back to the beach but want to splash in the water. We were also very welcome to spend our last afternoon at the pool after checking out, but before our evening flight back home. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Would go back!
