Our OpinionA fairly basic condo style resort with full kitchens. Located beachfront and close to shops and restaurants.
This was a great condo hotel for the price, room was huge 800 sq.ft. for a one bedroom. The view was amazing, everything you needed is there, great pool and snack bar, 24hr security, not bad little beach as well. There is a MacDonald's, General store, Maui Brewing Co. Pub and a few other stores across the street, and a short drive away from Ka'anapali, Kapalua, Nipili beaches, Kapalua was our favorite as there is great snorkeling there, and you will see turtles as we did. Highly recommend this condo hotel, Malaho.
Great Location! From the outside it may look run down but the property is well kept clean in the inside. My only concern is how ancient the furniture looks. If they would update the décor then I would have given this a 5 Star, our kitchen was updated and looked very nice. We got a 2 bed 2.5 bath oceanfront view ( view is breath taking and SF wise you are able to sleep 6-8 people ). Other than that the staff is great, they don’t bug you. You have a beach right outside the pool area, which you don’t find a lot of people on it ( not many people know about this lil private beach). They DON’T have a restaurant inside nor a bar, so plan ahead. I would say you would like this place. Again it’s a great location. There is a great happy hour place across the street called Dollies. Great place for cheap beer ( 2.50 budlight/ Coors light) and much more . Miso phat sushi is ok sushi, I think its overrated and over price for a roll. The gas station across the condo has a great poke bowl ( yes its inside the gas station store) the poke is fresh and a great cheap lunch or dinner. Maui brewery is great place to, just also across the street. Enjoy
Five day stay on Maui. I have previously stayed in Kaanapali but have always been intrigued with the more laid back neighborhoods just north of there. First stay at the Royal Kahana and would definitely book it again. Ideal location for affordability and if you not a big fan of the mega resorts. We had more fun hanging out dining and drinking at the places frequented by the locals. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. For casual dining check our Dollies' and the Pia'i Fish Market and for a more pricey choice you can't beat the Sea House Restaurant in Napili just down the road from the Royal Kahana. Condo's are the way to go then you can pick up food at the local market or farmer's market and eat in more. Times supermarket is just across the road and down a bit from the property.Although the property is a bit dated, still is all we needed...stayed in an ocean view one bedroom on the pool side on the 8th floor, self parking was easy, staff was always helpful and responsive, had a carpeted room but prefer tile so we just wore flip flops, bathroom area is tiny but workable for two people, drain in tub/ shower was very slow, unit had been updated inside so that was nice. This was exactly what I was expecting so no surprises with the condition of the resort giving the nightly rates!I was traveling with someone who was visiting the islands for the first time and she remarked she would definitely return to the Royal Kahana. We both agree that a condo is the only way to go I my opinion. The only issue I have is why the $140.00 cleaning fee ? Looking forward to a return trip!
We had high hopes for our first trip to Maui, we checked in our room was told park anywhere but preferred (wrong) we needed a parking permit strike 1. Was told the first day free continental breakfast and orientation? (wrong)was a muffin and coffee ,turns out the orientation was to upsell activities strike 2, went to our room and it was so dated it looked like Golden girls lived there"( every appliance was so old. The bedding was so old from 80s. You don't get maid service . We had to wash our own towls. But was charged $145 for cleaning? On top of our room fee. But I will say the kitchen was very nice clean very well stocked. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless your retired and over 60😐 there's no beach it's gone. The pool area is straight out of the 70s .carpets are soiled and old, tennis courts are missing nets and very badly kept up. The only thing nice is the entrance to office so can mislead is. Save an extra $200 a night and go to the Sheraton or Hilton. This place is very misleading. FYI if you don't return a beach towel is $25 a towel. We did not let this ruin our vacation we just will be more careful when we book online, pictures are fake.
Last year we did a private rental at the Royal Kahana and stayed in one bedroom #1009 oceanfront ... we loved it and decided to go back this year. The first week our cousins decided to join us so we stayed in a two bedroom oceanfront #410. It was fabulous! Great condo! When we arrived everything was perfect, clean and had fully stocked kitchen and baths. There were three baths, one in the main living area and each bedroom with King Beds had a separate bath attached. Perfect for two couples. The place is huge and a corner unit with a very big Lanai that we spent every morning on with coffee and breakfast as well as some dinners. The view was breathtaking watching the waves, the beach, sunsets and the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The second week we left #410 and moved to #1009, the one bedroom oceanfront we had last year and it was like 'coming home again'! We love that place! It too was perfect when we walked in ... clean, comfortable, well stocked and the view amazing. Again we were on the Lanai every morning with coffee and breakfast as well as a few dinners. We've stayed on all the islands in many different resorts and locations and #1009 is our all time favorite. Working with the owners is wonderful, they couldn't be more helpful. There are washer and dryers in both condos and no charge for parking or internet. Highly recommend this place. Kahana is just up a little bit from Kaanapali and so much more laid back and quiet, but yet a perfect location for day trips anywhere on the island or driving into the Lahaina for the evening. It was sad leaving, but the upside is looking forward to going back again next year! :)
