Sugar Beach Resort
- What's Included
When we first arrived we could not get into the condo. The door was not opening for us. When we went down to tell them we couldn't get in, they basically implied that we were too "stupid" to open the door. Going back to the condo we met the cleaning lady, she told us that the door wasn't opening good for her either and that she reported it. They would fix it that day. The next day coming back from our day tour (7pm), we couldn't get in at all anymore. We were tired and hungry and by the time the lock was fixed and we ate, it got really late. Waiting outside for at least an hour, getting eaten by mosquitoes was no fun either. Since it got too late for us to get to bed for an early rise to watch the sunrise at the summit, we had to unfortunately skip that. It was very hard to get management to even talk to us. We finally got to talk to them almost a week later and they were not helpful at all. They refused to do anything for us at all. They do not care about their customers in any way! Never staying here again. We were not the only ones having issues with their door. Oh and the shower head had black mold!
Bed was so old and hard, unit manager stated bed was almost new, the tag on mattress stated 2002 build date. We had to get Expedia involved to resolve issue. We have stayed at Sugarbeach many times, our first rental from this management Co.
This place was amazing!! Our first trip to Maui and we had a beautifully remodeled condo (201). We've previously been to Kauai and Oahu. We love Maui though. Best of both worlds. You can enjoy the quiet or find the activities and crowds. All depends on what you want and where you want to stay. We loved this beach and resort because it was quiet and we didn't have to go out to the pool early to get our chairs for the day. It was never overcrowded or busy and the beach is gorgeous. We chose to stay in Kihei because of it being centrally located on the island. We were a few minutes drive from Maui Brewing which had yummy drinks and a brewery tour. And minutes from all the restaurants and bars in downtown Kihei. We ate some yummy food while we were there. We drove up to Lahaina a few times and that was never more than a 20ish minute drive. A lot busier up there and lots of things to do. We did the Road to Hana, whale watching out of Lahaina, toured the Ocean vodka distillery and did the brewery tour with Maui Brewing. There was a Safeway 5 mins up the road and we were able to grab groceries for breakfast and lunch and would try and eat out for dinner. We tried to visit as many beaches as we could and we walked the public trail along all the fancy resorts in Wailea. Our condo was all remodeled as of a few years ago. It exceeded our expectations and I would totally come back and stay again. I can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be returning!
Sugar Beach is one of the top beaches in the world let alone Maui. Great place for a wedding. What's not to like swimming with the turtles in Paradise and relaxing on white sugar sand? Kihei is an alternative to the Kannapali beaches and much less crowded. Bring a hat & sunscreen!!!!
The condo we stayed in had everything we needed to make it 'home' for a week in Maui. Great location to stay when snorkelling and other water activities are part of your stay. Nice pool and beach on property. Clean grounds.
