Deauville Beach Resort
- What's Included
OverviewDeauville Beach Resort is a historic hotel ideally situated in the heart of Miami Beach, where Frank, Dino and Sammy romped and John, Paul, George and Ringo made history. The resort has over 700 ft. of sun-drenched, white sand beach, a beautiful oversized pool, and sweeping Atlantic Ocean vistas.
I stay here every year for a conference. I booked an ocean front room high floor. Arrived at 4 pm got checked in right away. Hey all you Priceline budget / spring breakers / bargain hunters : you get what you pay for, none of you all can afford South Beach Ocean Drive hotels so stop your complaining ! The hotel is what it is, right on the ocean, big pool, so so rooms. I have no complaints, I treat the staff as friendly as I can and I get what I need. I gotta say I used to see more European families / couples staying here, but the crowd has gotten very spring break, young.
My girlfriend and I went for spring break. We were arriving early around 11 am from Houston so I decided to call for an early check in if possible before our flight left. A representative told me that they could put me on a list. We arrived at the hotel to find out that we were not put on a list and that we could not be put on a list for early check in. So we went to eat and came back and saw another representative that claimed she put us on the list and would call us if a room was available. It was a lie we went to sleep outside to wake up to a long line of people checking in. So that was the start of the weekend. The rooms were ok, great view. The $25 service charge sucked of course, but it sucked more because you really didn't get anything for it.Anytime we asked for something to be brought to the room like towels, we had to call twice and it took half an hour.Staff was not friendly at all. Those were the highlights. I don't plan on staying here again.
You have to park your own car down the block and pay $30/day to use the parking garage. Rooms come with no blanket and 1 rag. Poor customer service. I would not stay here again. Room doesn't come with a microwave and I asked to use one they said they don't have one in the building.
The venerable old Deauville is right on the beach and has a nice large pool area as well. I had a renovated ocean view executive room (the most expensive) which was ok. The bed was a bit hard and the furniture looks like it came out of the Wet Elm catalogue (stylish mid-century, but not well made). The bathroom was clean enough, but not pristine, with walk in shower (but no safety grab bar).I was part of a large convention and many people arrived at 3:30 PM, so the check in line was a disaster, and took 1 hour and 30 minutes to check in (when I finally got to the front of the line, the front desk clerk was courteous and helpful). People who arrived earlier in the day were told they could not check in till 4 pm. Despite charging $25 a day for parking, it is self-parking, not valet. Despite hanging the "please clean my room" sign out at 8:45 each morning, my room was not cleaned until 4 pm, and the maids did not restock wash cloths or hand towels as they said they had run out (a call to housekeeping resulted in a person arriving later with hand towels and wash cloths).
The room was dirty, the service was probably the worst I've ever experienced--they made up for it by charging an exorbitant rate for a third world property. Filthy room and snotty help who do not speak English.I'm embarrassed for them. I came as part of a conference. Never again. Do NOT go to this place.
