Deauville Beach Resort is a historic hotel ideally situated in the heart of Miami Beach, where Frank, Dino and Sammy romped and John, Paul, George and Ringo made history. The resort has over 700 ft. of sun-drenched, white sand beach, a beautiful oversized pool, and sweeping Atlantic Ocean vistas.
 
Location: 20 miles from Fort Lauderdale International Airport and 12 miles from Miami International Airport.

Good place

I was there once, the hotel is very old, but, i think it was renewed, the room is very big, like a house. I advice to get a room with ocean view, it is awesome, i liked, but, if you don't rent a car, you'll have a problem, 'cause the location is not so good. There are a Publix and Ihop nearby there, but, Lincon Road and others malls are far.

Bad experience with the hotel about surcharges

This is not the first time that i stayed in this hotel, Water front, nice pool, good location. This time i booked because a medical emergency , my father in law got H1N1 and he was on hold in the hospital. So my fiancé stayed at the hotel, just to go to the hospital and bed , hospital/bed. She talked with the reception asking not to pay the 25us charged a day, (to use pool , Gym , Internet, safe, but they didn't take it for her. She didn't use the facilities, the internet was not working and theres no safe in the room. its a shame a hotel surcharge someone in a medical emergency just using the hotel to sleep.

Beautiful, legendary hotel sadly neglected

I chose this hotel simply for one reason...because it's legendary. This was the place to stay in the 1960's for the Hollywood and political elite. The Beatles played here in the Napoleon ballroom and was broadcast live on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964. But those days are long gone and the hotel is in desperate need of major renovations. This is a classic example of greedy hotel owners not re-investing their profits into the hotel. The hotel basically looks the same as it did 50 years ago.This hotel has so much potential. The lobby is gorgeous and grand. There is so much history associated with the hotel. They take very little advantage of it. Other than some photographs in the hallway and the lobby you would never know how legendary this hotel once was. John Lennon and his first wife stayed in Room 1211. Why don't they exploit this and put a plaque on the wall outside the room displaying this fact? The other 3 Beatles stayed on the same floor. Presidents Reagan and Kennedy also stayed in the hotel. Why don't they put plaques outside their rooms stating this? The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal has a plaque outside the room where John Lennon And Yoko Ono had their 1969 bed-in and the hotel charges alot more to stay in that room. The hotel seems to lack this kind of obvious promoting.That brings us to the pros and cons of the hotel itself:Pros: the service is excellent. All the staff I encountered were very accommodating. The front desk personnel is first rate. Housekeepers work their you-know-what off and are very good but clearly understaffed for the size of the hotel. Food in the lobby bar is very good. Beautiful lobby. Beautiful pool. Nice views of the oceanfront.Cons: their only major restaurant is open only in the morning. The lobby bar is the only place available for dining at lunch and the evening. Our deluxe oceanview room was very basic and plain. No pictures on the wall, furniture is chipped and cheap-looking. The bathtub had no plug. No tv directory to be found in the room. Only one bedsheet on the bed to cover yourself at night. No blankets, no bedspread. Hallways look like they haven't been retouched in 50 years, paint is chipped everywere. The bathrooms in the lobby were disgusting with feces stuck to the top of the toilets and locks to the stall doors were broken. Lobby bathrooms basically looked like ones found in the public washrooms of a city bus station.Such great potential with this hotel but clearly the owners have chosen to neglect it. This was a 5-star hotel that has now sadly fallen down to a 2-star hotel.

Cancellation did not work

I made a reservation for 2 rooms but had to cancel them online. To find out later they only cancelled one room but charged me for the second room. Could have emailed me to confirm or something. Now left to pay ridiculous 329 no show fee. Avoid.

You get what you pay for!

I knew that the price was too good to be true for this area and I should have paid attention to previous reviews. The wait to check in at 6:30 pm was ridiculous. There were not enough front desk personnel and other guests were jumping the line at their leisure. I do have to thank Michael for being very kind. The wait for elevators was a nightmare. And don't even think about using the stairs as they bring you out the back a block and 1/2 away. Now for the room. It took 2 trips to get a room key that worked and when entering the room there was a distinct odor of urine coming from the bathroom. One wash cloth and one hand towel, there were 4 bath towels. I cleaned the bathroom with Clorox that I got at Wahlgreens. I am still waiting for the washcloths and hand towels. Oh and the top sheets and a light blanket for the beds. Really! I have yet to see the pool and beach...it had better be fantastic! Now for the rest of the room, the TV sits on the desk and there is no other furniture in the room! 4 hangars for 2 people in the walk in closet which is a nice touch. But everything is very dingy, a fresh coat of paint was definitely not enough to spruce this tired old place up. Maybe when the Beatles stayed here it was nice but it has certainly seen a lot of hard years since then! Of course the screaming children running up and down the halls was pleasant. What else can I say.
