Thats an excellent hotel but I expected more from there. U need to pay if u want use the umbrellas at beach. The pool bar is good and offer good food. The bedroom is nice. But to expensive and its not a modern hotel.
We arrived at approximately 13:00 hours & tried to check in to see if our rooms were available. A gentlemen named 'Amir' proceeded to check us in even though he explained that our rooms were not ready & he would contact us via mobile phone, as check in was from 16:00. He took all the necessary information & passport details. Then he asked for a credit/debit card for 'holding' in case of any damage or purchases to the rooms. I gave him my Revolut master card (travel cash card) which he swiped & then told me that $724.85 would come off my card & be credited in approximately 3-5days. At this point I said that he should have explained this before swiping my card as I didn't agree for any amount to be removed from my card as I needed the money to spend on holiday. I quickly expressed my feelings & told him to cancel the transaction & gave him a 2nd card (again this was swiped without showing me the sum of money he was taking). Amir swiped the 2nd card then told me that the initial transaction couldn't be cancelled, so at this point I was very confused as to what amount had been taken from which card. I checked the Revolut App on my smart phone & could see that the amount had been taken from my credit, however I couldn't check the other card as it was a debit card from my wife's account. I then had to ask where we could store our luggage as he did not tell us & he didn't even say what time breakfast was in the morning. Amir took a mobile telephone number & said that he would contact us when the rooms were ready, after waiting until 16:30 (check in was 16:00) & no phone call we decided to go back to the check in desk.A lady called Jasmine greeted us this time, I explained that we had already checked in & thought that she would simply give us our room keys & maybe explain what time breakfast would be served etc.. But no she asked again for our passports & then took about 20mins looking on the computer & making phone calls. I was concerned by this point as she was asking us do we need to be on the same floor & do the rooms need to be close to each other. I would expect this to be planned prior to our arrival, so I asked Jasmine if we had 'Bay Views' as we had paid extra for & she replied yes. With still no information on breakfast or any information about the restaurants or hotel services, Jasmine just made it clear that if we picked up an item of the mini bar for longer than 20 seconds we will be charged for that item. At that point we left to take a look at our rooms.Not feeling very confident in either of the employees that dealt with us on reception, we opened up room 615 & looked out of the window to a roof top with air conditioning units as a view. We immediately called reception & spoke directly to Pedro Salvador (Front Office Supervisor), we asked him to come to the room & take a look at the Bay View we had paid additional money for. He came up & moved 2 rooms onto the 12th floor so they could be together & we stayed in our room on the 6th floor.After a terrible start to our visit in Miami we went out for food as we decided that we would not spend the evening dining in the hotel due to the bad experience we had already encountered that day. We asked the concierge for details on breakfast on the way out, as none of the staff on the check in desk had explained or even mentioned it to us. On arrival to breakfast the next morning, I again had to ask the staff who greeted us the procedure to which they then looked up my name & said we had $80 per room to spend on breakfast. We finished our breakfast & the waiter then asked for a room key, as there were 3 rooms (6 of us dinning) I asked if he needed all 3 room keys & he replied no 1 will be fine.When checking out the lady tried to charge me $203.20 for breakfast as she didn't take into account the other 2 rooms who dined with us, I explained & after a few phone calls this was removed from our check out bill.Once we had left the hotel I was concerned about the $724.85 which had been removed from my credit on my travel cash card, as I needed this money to spend on my holiday. After spending money on other cards, which was very inconvenient as the exchange rate & other charges were leaving me in a worse position financially. I waited 7 days & the money was still outstanding on my account, at this point I didn't have any money left & was embarrassingly borrowing cash from relatives. Desperately I needed to make some phone calls to try & get the money back as we had a further 5 days left of our holiday. After contacting Revolut customer services, they said that they needed an authorisation code sent via email from Fontainebleau to instruct them to reimburse the cash into my account. I had to make several phone calls that day & spoke directly with Pedro Salvador. Firstly he sent 2 authorisation codes, one for my card & one for my wife's card this sent alarm bells ringing as only 1 payment of $724.85 should have been withdrawn. Revolut told me both codes were wrong, so I had to contact him again. Then you sent me 3 different authorisation codes & next to them 3 x $724.85, I couldn't believe my eyes! Fontainebleau had taken $1,449.70/£1,115.15 from my wife's account & $724.85/£557.57 from my account. We had already paid $574.85/£441.51 per room, per night, why is there a need to remove a further $724.85/£557.57 holding deposit. In total $1,299.70/£999.76 for a nights stay is criminal & this legally should not be allowed to happen without authorisation from the account holder! After many stressful hours on the phone & worrying about how I am going to pay for things on holiday Revolut put the cash back into my account. The organisation & professionalism at 'Fontainebleau' was absolutely disgusting for any standard of hotel let alone a 5* hotel.After asking several times for Fontainebleau's complaint procedure, i'm still waiting!
I loved this hotel. From the reputation to the actual vibes at night were spectacular. The best part is that this hotel has everything you could possibly need. Has beach access with tanning chairs already lined up. Also great food & beach attendants just like "Ryan".He was one the beach attendents that helped me get situated in a good location but also making sure that all chairs were clean for the next person to come by, etc. Professional, mannered, hardworking young men was all I saw. With all the history this place has to offer it's amazing how modern and up to date the property is after so many years. Prime location right on the beach, fabulous restaurants, bars and of course a venue to host acts like Justin Bieber, Alesha caliber. Definitely a destination all to itself.
Last night had a beautiful evening with excellent service with the amazing Janine!!! So was so warm and friendly, and super efficient!! She described the dishes so perfectly. We were with our friends Jeff and Jessica celebrating their engagement as well as her birthday. The food was amazing, fresh, and the manager David was friendly, and both David and Janine made the evening extra special. The rest of the staff were wonderful as well.
