Classic Marriot property

We were very pleased with our stay at this location. The rooms were large with great views of the bay. The room amenities were all provided without having to ask. Also, I found that the cleaning staff was very friendly and courteous to guest. We also enjoyed a relaxing breakfast buffet at the restaurant overlooking the bay. The buffet options were plentiful and presented well. Wonderful view of the bay and other tourists embarking on boat tours. Definitely will return on our next trip to Miami.

Highly perfumed, very poor presentation of banquet food, banquet service utilitiarian, housekeeping issues.

This was truly not what I expected from a high-end brand, waterfront hotel in expensive Miami. Within a day of arriving had a scarf stolen from my room (had ironed it upon arriving and hung it in my closet on a hangar clip - front desk checked lost in housekeeping but "they didn't find anything". Banquet food across four days was the most poorly presented I've ever had (and my career began in hospitality). Food appeared slopped onto the the plates; menu rarely contained vegetables and when it did, not even a serving size (for example, one lunch was chicken on rice. that's it. Another time we received two spears of asparagus and two carrots) The food was sometimes served without table settings first being in place (napkins, cutlery) so food cooled before you could eat it. Rather than pouring water at the place settings, guests had to leave their hot food and walk across the ballroom to get water. Staff removed empty plates and immediately slammed down dessert (please note: I realize this is a supervisory/management decision about service and is NOT a comment about the staff themselves who were friendly and helpful). And I realize the conference organizers may have demanded a schedule but Marriott managers should remember that service like this can compromise the hotel's brand equity and image..... ) In addition, the hotel was highly perfumed in the lobby and the conference areas (thankfully not in the bedrooms). I know this scent is part of the Marriott "brand" but I am sensitive to perfumes and chemicals so developed a headache every day of five beginning in my olfactory sinuses. That sent me to "detox" at the pool in the "fresh" outdoor air where I must say I had my most enjoyable experiences with fabulous staff, scent-free environment, and well-kept pool facilities. Staff at the hotel were very friendly on the whole - so I must compliment them for their smiles and helpfulness. The bedroom was lovely and well-maintained with the exception that I found a dirty pillow case behind the night table when I was searching my room for the missing scarf:( I was simply disappointed with this stay as I expected so much more. To Marriott Management: PLEASE DON'T POISON YOUR GUESTS WITH THIS HIGH CONCENTRATION OF SCENT/CHEMICALS. I know information about scent formulations are proprietary and so you do not know what you are putting in the environment of your guests and your staff - but if one person gets repeatedly ill from the scent, it this not enough to revisit this particular part of your "brand"?A final note to add context: I am well-travelled, not a complainer and am very easy-going so it's hard for me to write this.....I tend to write reviews when something is really great - but this time I just had to say a few words.

Offering old fashioned hospitality and VIP service for everyone.

So I travel a lot for work, constantly in and out of hotels of all types and brands. The Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay offers old fashioned hospitality and VIP service for everyone. When I arrived to check in, there was a line ahead of us but the front desk manager (Mr. Azzam) immediately brought sufficient help to get everyone checked in immediately. He was very personable, professional and made every one of us feel like we were his most important VIPs. Simply said, best check in experience in a very long time.Room very nice, everything worked fine, very clean. Very nice view.Breakfast was wonderful, only thing better than the coffee and food was the service. Our server insisted she get us "to go" cups for our coffee because we wanted another cup, but were pressed for time.Bottom line, Marriotts are usually OK, this one is tops because of the culture of service and people who work there. Thank you for the great experience!

Beautiful hotel

The view from our room on the 17th floor was amazing. We could see the bay and the cruise ships (including the one we'd just spent the last five days on. The staff, the pool, the rooms, everything was great.

Family away from home

I stay at this hotel frequently and I had to say how wonderful they are! From the minute I check in until I leave I feel that my needs are met completely. Jose (bellman) is always there to greet me, and offer to help get my luggage together and up to the room. The check in staff is quick and thorough, making getting to my room a breeze. The housekeeping staff, the concierge staff, the front door staff, they all do their part to make my stays easy and hassle free. One other thing to mention are the views from the windows. I love the bay view! I can spend an entire evening watching the boats and the people and the occasional manatee! So much activity all the time! I am so happy that this is my home away from home.
