This hotel from the outside and the lobby looks fantastic. The beach backyard is beautiful. Family friendly, they also have a heated good size pool and hot tub with beach bar and some cozy outdoor furniture. Check in was awful! It took over an hour and a half to check in. They had only 2 clerks working at the counter to check people out and in. We tried phoning ahead of time to see if we could do an early check in to get rid of our bags while we explored Miami but they don't answer the phone at all, even if you call down from your room. We ran into several guests that couldn't get through either. The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. I didn't eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar so I cannot review that part of he hotel. The restaurant did seem pretty busy in the evening though. Our room: We were on the 8th floor. The door to the room had definitely seen better days. It was all damaged at the bottom. It was 1 bedroom with small sitting /living room area pull out couch. The 8th floor was being renovated or something because the smell of Epoxy was so strong you can taste it and it was nauseating. The room had a strong smell too. You could not open the windows. The pull out couch needed to be seriously cleaned or replaced. It was so dirty I didn't sit nor did I let my kids sit on it. Also no bed linen for the pull out couch was in the room. The little kitchen chairs were nasty. They had fabric on the cushion that were Stained, dirty and looked like they were there since the 60's. The bedroom was nice, bed looked comfy and bathroom was tiny but fully renovated. So tiny that that door almost touched he toilet bowl when opened. I went down to guest services to change rooms as the smell was horrible. Although I waited 20 Minutes to see someone, they were friendly and accommodating and changed us to another floor. The new room had a different configuration but basically the same without the nasty smell. The bed was comfortable , again we had to ask for bed linen for the pull out couch which I had to go down to the front desk to ask since they wouldn't answer the phone. About 45 minutes later we received the linen. The bathroom was much bigger then the other room but the shower had 2 shower heads. One that didn't work and one that did. The bathtub was dirty with some sort of black crumbs. The tub was tiny with jets and this mechanism that stuck out I nearly hit my foot on it a few times. The paint on the ceiling was curling and falling off. No fan in the bathroom.Check out was about 40 minutes. The valet parking was quick and the guys are friendly. Hopefully we can stay at this hotel again and give it another try. This hotel has so much potential. They need to hire more staff and replace some of the old stained dirty furniture. The rooms seem to be renovated with the exception of some furniture and the bath tubs. The lobby is so deceiving. But the beach right there and or pool was definitely a great bonus!!
We came to this junkyard they call a "hotel/resort" over our February vacation and were absolutely outraged during out stay. This was by far the WORST place I have EVER stepped foot in. First off, the customer service was atrocious. We got to our room and right off the bat, we noticed that there were numerous problems. From the door to our balcony not opening, the stench of the room itself, the countertops being wobbly and not secure, paint falling off the ceiling, flimsy second hand furniture and no bedding for the DISGUSTING sofa bed that had stains all over it, we were appalled. Not to mention, we payed for an ocean front room (not ocean view), only to get a room on the first floor with a view of the playground on the beach. Last time I checked, there was not an option for a playground view room. With this, we went down to the front desk and requested a better room on a higher floor. The lady at the desk said she could not switch our room because they were already booked. However, we checked in exactly at 4pm (check in time) and there were PLENTY of rooms that we could have been switched too. After learning we could not switch our room, we asked for bedding and maintenance to fix the door to the balcony. We only got the bedding. The door was never fixed and still remains broken. The lady at the front desk was so rude and did not care about customers enjoying their stay. Any other hotel would do ANYTHING to make sure that customers are satisfied with their stay, but the Newport Beachside could care less about their customers. To ANYONE looking to stay at this hotel, you will regret it. I can assure you that. PLEASE spend a few extra dollars staying somewhere else because this place is a complete waste of money and can/will ruin your vacation. With all the problems my family experienced on this trip, we should have received a refund! Needless to say, the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort SCAMMED my family and did not give my family the room type that we payed for.
Hotel called me before I could call and ask details re airport pickup. Customer service! Bit pricey but service was great! We decided to upgrade from city view to 8th floor ocean. Quick and easy transfer. It is 40 minute bus ride to Miami Beach. On the day we shopped, the shuttle to the Mall never showed up. After 20 minutes we gave up and took the bus. Not the hotels fault but people they hire to do the job.Lobster night on Wednesdays is quite popular! Getting a poolside chaise was never an issue.
We stayed here and had a great time.It is an older property, so expect such - but it is a smaller place with a boutique feel.We enjoyed all of our stay EXCEPT for the restaurant - I will not let this jade my entire review but I WOULD NOT eat there.The beach bar by the pool is GREAT.Good strong drinks and we liked the food.Small but nice clean pool - we never used it.Gentle clean beach that is family friendly - and right next to a free fishing pier (for guests) with a very cool beach bar on it.We had an oceanfront view that was AMAZING - get a room on a HIGH floor.SO, the bad.Kitchen 305.....Wow, I don't know where to start........I have never left a negative review before.This was an ENGAGEMENT dinner, and the business was told ahead of time, and they still managed to destroy the evening from start to finish.I had asked for a quiet table out of the way for the occasion, and we were put in the middle booth of a busy isle.We arrived on time, and were not served or asked about drinks for 29 minutes, we were about to leave when the manager noticed us and told a waiter other than our own to come over.At that point he apologized, and took our drink order.10 more minutes past before our waiter came to talk to us, and he never apologized and was very short with us.The place charges your 18% gratuity ahead of time regardless, so some staff have little to no incentive it seemed to serve you. I have no issue with paying beyond this amount, and usually do.We ordered our food, and paid extra for the surf part of the surf and turf as they were not serving lobster on valentines day.We asked for medium rare, and was told to try it when we got it and he would take it back if not ok.It was delivered VERY rare, and the waiter did not ask, and failed to come back for 10 more minutes.We asked a THIRD waiter to take it back and finish cooking it.I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink the entire meal, and finished it before my meal arrived.Finally after 2 hours and 15 minutes I asked for the check, as our waiter never came back to the table - she asked to also see the manger on to occasions and the manager failed to come over.Adding all insult to injury - the manager finally came out - instead of bringing the check as I asked - with a cake bearing an 18 inch sparkler.With EVERYONE now in the restraunt now watching she proceeded to wish us a "HAPPY ANNIVERASRY" - as I stated it was the night we were to be engaged.......A that point my date took the sparker from the cake and stabbed the pastry dead on the plate - extinguishing the fire and all hopes of a romantic dinner for two.All the manager had to say was - "But the note"...... clearly she had not read it.We were still charged for our meal - an apology was ever offered.Yes, she stabbed the cake with a sparkler.......
After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical in staying here for my post cruise stay. I'm glad that I did not let the reviews steer me away. I enjoyed my quiet time at the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort. My only requirement was to stay at a location where the beach was my backyard. This resort exceeded my expectations. I stayed in a 1-bedroom oceanview suite, although a little small, I truly enjoyed my stay. Pros: Everything I needed was at the hotel. The beach was absolutely beautiful and very welcoming. The pool was right outside my window and it was a nice change from other hotels to take a swim pretty much all day. The daily drink special was an added bonus. Loved having a drink at the Tiki Bar while watching the sunset over the beach.Cons: The porter doesn't help at all with your luggage. They look right at you while struggling and not one ever offered assistance. So keep in mind you are on your own; The sofa in my room needed some deep cleaning. It was so stained where I would not sit on it; The Concierge [the 2-ladies] was not friendly. When I started asking a question, the one young lady wouldn't let me finish. She gave incorrect information about public transportation. Ultimately, my question was answered, however, I wasn't confident that it was correct, therefore, I confirmed with the bell-cap. Although, there are some cons, I plan on returning in 2018 with a group.
