Ocean Five Hotel
- What's Included
I have never written a review for any hotel, however I have to for this one as it truly exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ocean Five Hotel for 5 nights in November 2016. Our room (no 200) was beautiful, modern, spacious and clean with loads of storage room. The bed was HUGE (I have never seen a bed so big, you could sleep on it sideways if you wanted to) and memory foam. We had (2!) TVs with excellent channels. The only things we felt the room was lacking was a kettle (but this might just be because we are tea-drinking English people) and a mini fridge. We made use of the iron/board, hairdryer and air conditioning. We also liked the lighting - very modern and you can dim the lights. The hotel staff are the best I have ever encountered, they became familiar with us (it's a fairly small hotel which made our experience better) and would all greet us like friends as we would come and go from the hotel. They helpfully assisted us with getting back to the airport and on the final day even helped me weigh my luggage (I'd done a lot of shopping). They also held our luggage for us on our final day as we had 9 hours between check out (12pm) and flight home. The hotel also provides beach towels for free. The complementary breakfast is in the restaurant next door, this was a help yourself buffet of toast, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, muffins and drinks - all of it was good. This is available until 11:30 although we found they tend to pack up early - we arrived 11:15 one day and everything had been cleared away. The hotel is in a great location, everything we needed within walking distance and the beach is literally across the road. Miami Beach is noisy but we had no noise issues as the hotel is located towards the end of the ocean five strip. We were also in the room facing the main road so if there was noise we would have heard it! This was probably my best hotel experience ever, I would without hesitation recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Miami Beach. Don't go to a hotel with a huge complex and 1000 rooms.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights as part of a fly-drive down the Gulf Coast from Tampa. We found it to be a very pleasant and cosy hotel, a bit quirky but enjoyable and comfortable. Located right on Ocean Drive in South Beach and just a short walk to the beach and all the restaurants and shops. The rooms were comfortable and clean with all of the required amenities, had a good sized double bed and a separate bathroom. We received a Continental breakfast each morning which was more than adequate. My only criticism was that they did not have coffee/tea in the room.
We stayed here the last two days of a three week honeymoon to say i was disappointed is an understatement.before I point out why the one positive I have was the guy on the front desk ,Angel he was the only saving grace for this place .so here goes......... we arrived after getting off a ten night cruise that was pure luxury ,my heart sank when we pulled up outside . Its was run down . We checked in ,very nice front desk staff . We were allocated a room and told we had been upgrade then told our rooms were in the building across the way . We went to our room on the first floor and when we opened the door the smell was overpowering ! It smelt like pee . We went back to the desk across the way and were given another room in the same building on the 3rd floor . There is no lift so we has to drag our bags up 3 flights .second room was slightly better but still shabby . We went for breakfast the next morning and I have never met ignorance like it . Because it was included in our booking it was self service on plastic plates and cutlery. The staff were beyond ignorant ! They just stood there and looked down there noses at everyone . Like we were putting them out ! Cerial and white bread was all on offer . Total rubbish .I actually didnt feel safe in the building we were in as there was no reception at all . There was a heavy fire door at the end of the corridor that slamed all night keeping us awake! The walls are paper thin so tv s and people talking all night . Beds are beyond uncomfortable so if you want no sleep and a terrible breakfast stay here ....
Great location! There is a good strip of bars to the left as you come out. Had to hand over cash as we came in as a deposit for breakages as we didn't have a credit card. Room was nice and clean, shampoo and bits in bathroom. There was a sewage smell on third floor that wasn't very nice but once you were in room couldn't smell it. Walls are paper thin. We got knocked at one night by the guy next door due to level of tv. (He also woke us up one morning facetimeing his family but we weren't mean) breakfast is toast muffins and cereal but you can get a cheap brekkie there too. The restaurant that you walk through to get to rooms is lovely and staff very nice.
We spent 2 nights in the hotel and we were made to feel lime old friends..the guys there were a great help and i would go again if i am in Miami. The hotel is 2 minute walk from the beach and restaurants are within walking distance from the hotel. Valet parking for guests is privded.
