Elizabeth at the front desk was AMAZING! She helped us check out and apologized for how rude Mr. George was when we checked in. She is the only reason why I would recommend this hotel! The location is fine, but the rooms need to be remodeled.
Of couse location of Ramada Plaza Marco Polo Beach Resort is the best! First line right on the beach, 5 min by car or 15 min by bus/walk to Aventura Mall with all kinds of attractions. BUT the main assets in this Hotel - People! The staff is very friendly and always tries to help you. We miss this place already! Last vacation was wonderful! Huge thanks to front desk managers Maria Castro and Delilah Amaro, Elizabeth Diaz, Bryan Martinez from porter service, Mary from lobby housekeeping, Stella from restaurant, Elly from pool (hope you have more help in the morning) & all the rest of the hotel stuff (sorry I don't know all names). I would like to say personal thank you to Sergio Valdez - you made us feel very welcome and vacation special! ;)PS: We watched weather news every day. Our hearts ♥ were with all of you guys. We are very glad that you all are safe! Hope to see you all next vacation!In general, the hotel needs little renovations and some rooms need it more than others do. I hope hotel manager will come up with some ideas how to do that despise timeshare holders unwillingness to renovate. ;) I think Elly from the pool deck really needs help in the morning. It is difficult to get umbrella before 10am. I would suggest to give them carte for umbrellas and at least let guests get them from there. Because it is hard for one person to fold all towels + sign in guests + run around and give everybody umbrella when you have to be at your station all the time. In addition, other pool deck staff needs to understand that they work FOR guests to feel comfortable during the vocation. I find it’s not right when at 6-7pm (the pool closes at 8pm) they start to fix pool chairs and ask guests to move.
After being displaced by hurricane Irma, I chose this hotel to stay in with my kids. First, they did not advertise that they were not fully operational. They also had flooding and damage due to the hurricane. When I arrived, there was a mildew smells in the lobby. After checking into the room, I realized there was no cable nor Wi-Fi. I called the front desk, they advised I would not be charged the resort fee. At 2 am, the fire alarm started going off for and hour straight and then periodically during the night. When I called to inquire, the clerk was rude. There were also little roaches in the restroom. I asked for some type of reimbursement, the supervisor Luis S. & Lizbeth refused any compensation. Staying at home with no electricity would have been better than this hotel.
My family stayed here for 2 nights prior to our cruise, the hotel needs a little work, but all in all it was ok. The day we left for a cruise we went to the concierge to get a cab. Victor told me the cab was going to cost $80.00 to get to the port. We thought that was a little high but what choice did we have. Victor handed our cab driver the envelope of money, but only $50.00 was in the envelope. So Victor, who works in the concierge at this hotel ripped us off for $30.00. We have tried to call multiple times only to get hung up on or left on hold til we hang up.
