Sole On The Ocean
- What's Included
OverviewThe contemporary beachfront resort Solé on the Ocean is located just north of Miami Beach, Florida, in the picturesque enclave of Sunny Isles Beach.
We stayed here for a weekend with the kids and our dog. This hotel is dog friendly which is the main reason we booked it.The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The main reason we did not give it a 5 star rating is because a bunch of teenage kids that were not staying at the hotel (but accessed the pool through the public beach access) were crowding the pool, being obnoxious and using foul language which I did not want around my children. There seems to be no control to access the pool from the beach and these kids were definitely taking advantage.
We went two week-ends in a row for Sunday Brunch...once on our own, followed by bringing out of town friends. Both Sundays were awesome. The staff, the food, the service on the beach. You do not have to be a hotel guest to enjoy the quiet beach with live music until 3:30. This brunch is reasonable $55 with one complimentary drink...the seafood alone makes it worth every mouthful. Love Sole' on the Ocean!
To all of you out there in travel land that want to find a place to go either by yourself so to regain your sanity from the everyday World or to take your Family for a couple days or week of just being together in a safe , pleasant, enjoyable environment SOLE is the place that I would recommend without a doubt. I personally have been coming to the property for 6 years now. The people that I have met who manage and work at the property as well as the restaurant ( the American Biestro ) I would consider a Family away from my own. That to me is important for I want to be comfortable when I'm away from home. I don't want to deal with problems and stupid situations and in all the years of coming there I have felt that way. I am fortunate enough that I can go and stay anywhere I would wish to but honestly I would recommend the SOLE property for they have always been there in the respect of caring for my needs and making my stay very nice. To Gio ( Property Concierge / Manager ) I will be back the first part of September which I am looking forward to as I said in the title to this review ( I'm Coming Home ) so get that Suite ready !!!! LoL. How this has helped you whoever you may be in deciding to where to stay when your looking for an awesome stay with or without your Family. Right on the Beach , the Water with everything that you need to enjoy a great time. Thanks again !!!!Stuart
This hotel has some very good points and some I can't believe this happened points! Basic, simple things just didn't happen. For instance we couldn't get coffee. There is a coffee maker in the room, but it took several calls to have coffee delivered. Same thing with facecloths. We asked for extra face cloths and it just didn't happen. I finally called Wade Canton the front office manager who did manage to get me extra facecloths. I know its a crazy complaint but...Despite these annoyance, we had a nice time. The restaurant staff were lovely. the beach staff were amazing. And we rested. We really enjoyed our stay. The beach was amazing and there were lots of good restaurants nearby. So I am not sure what to say about this hotel. It was OK.
We usually spend a week with my family in Miami every year between June and August. This year we arrived to this hotel by our travel agency's recommendation. This is the worst hotel I have been to in USA so far!We arrived at 2:30 pm and our room was not ready. The lady at the front desk kindly offered her apologies but the hotel was at full capacity for the high season (?!). I agreed to come back at 4 pm and go out for some lunch with the kids in the meantime. We got back at 4:30 pm, the room was not ready yet.The entire group (3 adults, 4 little kids) had to wait 1 hour in a very small room until the room was ready. Finally, after the check in, we were informed about a "resort fee" of 20 dollars we had to pay to cover some of the Hotel features: beach umbrellas and seats/reclines, towels, wifi service, gym and pool access. This cost was doubled since we were in two rooms. 40 dollars per day and on our first incursion to the beach there were no more umbrellas or seats available. (FYI: Diplomat Resort from Hilton -5 stars hotel- nearby has a resort fee of 30$)On our second day, a tropical storm kicked us out of the beach and the beach service guys were more focused on recovering the towels we were using to protect ourselves than to provide us assistance.Regarding the rooms: they are small. Beds are ok, but the rooms are small. The worst thing: the bathroom. The bathroom floors were sticky. Yes, sticky! An awful sensation of dirt on my bare feet!TV sets were fine, despite that one of the 3 of them never worked. On housekeeping issues I have to clarify that the housekeeping team were respectful and kind, but the service was poor. We left the room twice early in the morning and we arrived at 6:30 pm and the room was in the exact same way we left it. On the third day, I asked one of the housekeeping employees to make our room as early as possible. She told me that 10:30 am was the first available time and that they will start at that time. That never ever happened. When we got later that day and found that someone has been inside the rooms but didn' t clean them was the drop that overflowed the glass. When we got to the front desk for some explanations about all these we were asked to wait for room reservation verification. My wife drove nuts and asked me to get out of there! The supervisor showed up at the room soon afterwards with a bunch of apologies and a kindly housekeeping lady made our room.Guys at the valet parking are kind. I asked for my car in advance to the front desk but that worked once in a blue moon. I usually showed up at the lobby and had to wait for my car to be driven in.Complimentary breakfast is shameful: orange juice and a sweet corn/vanilla muffin. From my point of view, it is better not to offer anything at all instead of that! The room had a kitchenette but the cutlery was sized for a party of 4 instead of 7. And there were no pans nor cookware. The lamps in the room are all "dimmerable", but most of them do not work. So you have to turn on and off the lights by unplugging the cable. The swimming pool is small; do not expect a resort like pool. It is definitely not the appropriate size for the number of rooms. As a conclusion, this may remotely work if you are on a business trip for a couple of days and you don't mind if the rooms are not clean nor tidy. But it is definitely not worth it! Avoid it for family vacations or leisure trips.
