The New Casablanca On The Ocean
- What's Included
The room was quite standard, except it was equipped with a kitchen unit. It was quite comfortable. The Lobby was huge, but dated. not fully utilized. The decor was quite date din the hotel, and the employees were more Spanish speaking. The guy at the external desk could not even speak English. The Pool was wonderful, the beach access was marvelous. The guys in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. Hotel was not the best and up to date. Some of the units are private, so no interaction with hotel staff if required in those cases. Overall if you are not looking for luxury, but a decent place to stay, try Casablanca on the Ocean
Great location. Nice people. Convenient. Excellent beach. Definitely will be back. Near everything on the beach. They are very accommodating and studios are great. They all have a Full kitchen so it is very convenient. Supermarket nearby. Can go walking!
Stayed for one night prior to joining a cruise around the Caribbean. The hotel was close enough to the airport and port so no time was wasted on long transfers. Its clearly setup as a transfer destination. The overall impression was one of being tired and well used. Our party had three rooms and two were upgraded, with the reception informing us we must have been lucky. The breakfasts were good and the staff friendly. For this purpose the hotel met our needs, anything more and it would have been a challenge.
A group of my friends were staying here, reserving 6 rooms in total. I arrived first and was taken to a room worse than my 1976 college dorm, Ratty furniture, shoddy curtains, old fixtures, and antiquated appliances in the "suite". The queen size bed barely fit into the room (over sized closet) which had NO windows and low ceilings. The room with the kitchen and couch had a window facing the next building. It seemed clean but barren. That was after a solo rickety ride in the elevator, no bell service, and a long walk down the threadbare carpet. The old school metal keys were one to a room only, so your room mate is out of luck if you get separated. We should have asked for a different room. We left and went to the Hilton 2 doors away. Some of my other friends were given rooms that had stainless steel appliances, tile kitchen back splashes, contemporary furniture and ocean front views. Same out dated keys. Two other rooms were somewhere in the middle. Perhaps this is a condo-hotel where some rooms are renovated and some are just pathetic. The hotel is good 20 minute cab ride from Lincoln Road Mall and a little further for the very South end of the beach. Not the South Beach vibe one expects here. Lobby fair, staff fair, big pool and great access to beach.
Casablanca hotel is the worst hotel I have been in the USA. When you arrive you have to wait a lot of time at the reception. The clerks at the receptions work very slowly. When you go to the pool you need to get towels from the receptions, and it is after 6 or 7pm they might tell you they ran out of towels.I have never seen this before in any hotel in USA. The restaurant has also the worst food in USA, they dont have any idea on how to cook, and if you are vegetarian and ask for a veggie sandwich they might laugh at you saying: You are the guy who Castro loves. They do not smile at all, they are not polite and they haven't been trained properly to work in the tourism industry. Besides you can get scolded at any time. I dont recommend at all this place.
