- What's Included
My mother & I are currently staying in the hotel. I emailed the hotel 2 weeks prior to arriving, asking if they could give me a price to have flowers or something put in the room for my mothers 50th birthday. I'm still waiting for a response?! The hotel is in a great location. Very central! It's lovely and clean. The room is huge! Having it's own kitchen facilities etc. My mother & I checked in after 16 hours of travelling and we could've had a poorer check in. The young lady behind the desk didn't care for anything. The hotel facilities were not explained. What our package includes. Nothing! I went to purchase a bottle of water yesterday to be told by a lovely gentleman on the concierge desk it was complimentary. I would stay here again purely because of the location.
We spent 3 days at the Stewart, we where greeted and treated excellent by the front desk staff. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms are large for NYC and well priced. When we left we noticed that a pair of Tiffany sunglasses had gone missing. They never left the room the entire weekend, so there is not confusion on what happened. We should have taken advantage of the safe as we used it for our passports and extra credit cards. I called to ask for someone to check to see if they had been left in the room. 40 minute wait and I had to hang up and call again. I did get transferred 3 times the following and received house keeping. They notified us that the room was now occupied and would call back. They did and left no message, I tried again but had to hang up after another 50 min hold. I would not recommend the restaurant attached to the hotel either. We tried to order food however the waiter never came back. I left him a $10 tip for the 2 drinks perhaps he had a bad day. The food on the menu sounded great but we never had a chance to find out.
Hotel was central and excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Slight problem at check in but staff where quick to resolve with little fuss. However, I checked out and left property in the room. Since then I have emailed three times and received no response. Entirely disappointed with this - no idea where my property is and will now have the expense of a call. This has taken the shine of a great trip.
I'm rating this property as a 4* due to its convenience being right opposite Madison's Square and with in 10 minutes of Times Square. The hotel it's self was quite poor, I was very impressed by its face. The reception was very welcoming, we had a two bed studio suite - at first glance it looked clean and fresh, the bath was very dated and dirty - grime all around the toilet roll holder, the sink was discoloured and there was hair etc in the corner of the floor. The kitchenette was clean and so was the bedroom so the bathroom was a massive let down. The room was super hot and we had noway of turning this down.Yes I would return to the hotel but I wouldn't come here expecting a lavish 4*.
I visited New York for my 21st and my Mum's 50th, the hotel is a brilliant location right across from Madison square gardens and only 10 minutes from Times square! Staff were very helpful and friendly always saying hello to us. We ate breakfast once in the hotel which was lovely, the bar area is also lovely for a nice drink after being out exploring the city. Our room was quite small, however for the amount of time we were spending in it it was acceptable. As we were there for special birthdays, we returned to our room one night to a bottle of champagne and a birthday cake, a nice surprise!
