Great location, nice decor, beware of additional costs

This is a typical "boutique hotel" and the decor is really nice, the studios super convenient. It's the parking package that left us with a sour after-taste.We paid for the parking package and thus were obviously dismayed when our car was returned to us with a parking ticket. The hotel promised to take care of it but we are now three months later and just got an outstanding violation notice. Multiple messages left with managers at the hotel have been left unanswered. Nice and convenient location but buyer beware about leaving your car for the valet or trusting management to keep their word.

Wouldn't return.

Just returned from a week long stay at the Stewart. This hotel has many pros and cons. Most which may seem small, but overall I wouldn't return to this hotel the next time I'm in New York as my overall experience was pretty disappointing.Pros:Easy to get to from the airport. Train to Penn Station. Right across the road.Good location for attractions and sights, both walking distance and subway links.Good bars and restaurants around for evenings.Cons:-Rooms are NOT as advertised on websites. We switched rooms 3 times upon check in, as the room we were assigned were not acceptable. This is not the cheapest hotel in the area by a long way, so I was disappointed with the standard of the room compared with the price I paid. After speaking to various members of staff we were allocated a 'better' room.-City taxes are a sting. Which I guess is not the hotels fault, but be prepared.-Air Con. Old style air con unit in the window. Noisy noisy noisy. One night it was raining and i got no sleep from the rain banging on it.-Windows. Filthy. Couldn't see out of them from the window that wasn't blocked by the air con unit. Very thin windows. Can hear every thing from the street despite being 20 floors up.- staffing. Not enough staff to deal with demand of a hotel of its size. We waited in the lobby 40 minutes for someone to get our suitcases, and missed our bus.I was really looking forward to my stay at the Stewart as websites and Facebook posts paint a really good picture. It's a shame reality does not match.Not a 4 star hotel. Has a lot of potential, I hope it improves in the future.

Front Desk Service

Greetings. When we arrived, our accomodations were slightly less than what we expected. However, William at the Front Desk, went above and beyond our expectations to book us into another room. William was quick to respond! He offered us several other room options and personally assisted my wife in finding us a great room at the Stewart. Wiliam is a true professional dedicated to customer service always placing customer needs as his highest priority. Thank you William for making our stay at the Stewart most enjoyable! Definitely promote William!

One of the best in New York

We recently spent 2 nights in the Stewart. It is a large hotel, our room was spacious (We had opted for an upgrade for $10 extra) so we had a seating area extra. It was spotless, comfortable and surprisingly considering its position on 7th Avenue opposite Maddison Sq Garden, it was quiet. The staff were helpful, the breakfast had a good variety, even if the staff seemed a bit off, not offering coffee or tea, and when asked for a pot of tea, had to be asked also for milk. The bar staff were really good. The hotel was not cheap by any means but was worth the money.

Wonderful Staff and Accomodations

Andrew welcomed us when we were informed our reservation had been cancelled at a nearby hotel. He arranged for a one room suite and could not have been more helpful. I recommend Hotel Stewart on your next trip to NYC. It is right in the heart of the city and right across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Our room was clean and comfortable with fridge, microwave, plates and silverware and a small stove top. We had the added convenience of two full bathrooms.Andrew could not have been more helpful. We plan to return to the Hotel Stewart nd highly recommend it!!
