Grand Hyatt New York
- What's Included
We a official delegation stayed here for a week. Astonishingly very poor room service, rude staff and poor menu in complementry breakfast. Room service seems to be veruy unprofessional. Didn't expect this kind of service in hotel of 5 star class....so they claim....Rubish
Loved this hotel so much. Staff were so helpful. They helped get us tickets to events and directions to anywhere we needed to go. This is in a fantastic location right next door to Grand Central Station. The hotel itself is lovely. Our room was a good size for New York standards. We also has a club lounge room which was fantastic. Drinks in the evening on the terrace and yummy breakfast in the mornings. Loved our stay here & would stay again.
Nice and clean mid-town hotel. Prices are not stupidly high. Rooms are good sized, so no complaints there. Service is good and everyone at the hotel was very accommodating. Could not ask for a better location, right next to Grand Central.
I, along with my boyfriend, have Hyatt status. He travels much more than I do and frequents this hotel. We stayed here for a recent week in New York but our stay left much to be desired. I expect much more out of the Grand Hyatt brand. I know this is NYC and it is a busy hotel but I have had better service at lower end Hyatts and lower end hotels in the city. I understand the hotel was very busy and full of tennis players as the US Open was going on but service was definitely lacking.Things I liked:1. Location to Grand Central was wonderful. We were in walking distance of anything in the city and could easily access the subway from Grand Central.2. Laundry/dry cleaning services were prompt and lovely.3. Had a business center/UPS/Fedex center which was handy because I needed to mail something during the stay.4. Beds were comfy, rooms were nice. We were in 2021. Windows also opened slightly which was nice as we got fresh air and got to hear city noises.Things I didn't like:1. We were traveling with a lot of bags and had called the hotel MANY times prior to our arrival. We were ASSURED that they would make a note on our reservation and we would have a room with large closet space. We were not looking for a free upgrade but were told that certain rooms in the category we booked had very large closets. Upon arrival the WOH desk knew nothing of this request. Additionally, we further explained our situation at check-in and were given a room with a tiny closet. The doorman had brought our bags to the room and left promptly. We had to go back downstairs, have them switch our room, went back to our original room to wait for someone to get our bags, etc. It was annoying to say the least and easily avoidable if a note was put on the reservation. I must have called 4-5 times to discuss the bag/closet situation.2. No bathrobes in the room3. My boyfriend got sick the last night of our stay. We had planned to stay in and had called Room Service inquiring about their menu. We called back to order at 10:32PM only to be told they were closed for the evening. I called the front desk asking if we could place an order with the restaurant in the lobby and take the food back to our room and was told "no". I explained my sick boyfriend and was told that I could come to the restaurant, order the food, and take the food to the room myself on actual plates? This didn't make sense to me? Also, the lobby restaurant served food until 11PM but room service stopped at 10:30PM?4. With our WOH status we get free water daily. I much prefer the water to be left in the room. This hotel had you take a ticket/coupon to the market to get your water daily. Not the end of the world but for a Grand Hyatt I would expect water in my room.5. Everytime we stopped at the concierge to ask questions... there was no one there.6. We had a event to go to one day and confirmed twice with the front desk that our room could be cleaned early. The desk knew of our time constraints and we were assured this was no problem. We left the room by 8:30AM and were returning at 10:30AM to get ready. After returning at 10:30AM our room had still not been cleaned! We did not visit the gym or the pool on this visit so I cannot comment.I guess all in all lack of communication among the staff and lack of service were my biggest complaints. The hotel was lovely, had a great location and well furnished rooms. For over $400 a night I expect better, even in NYC.
My sister and I and our daughters stayed at the Grand Hyatt last weekend while in NYC- it was a perfect location! Lan at the front desk was amazing while checking us in, and even helped us print out Broadway tickets. Our room had the best view of Grand Central Station next store- and even being right on the street was really quiet in our room.Spacious (surprisingly) and beds that were really comfortable. One tip- when coming back in a taxi- the upper west side of the hotel is a sweet bat cave entrance that isn't crowded at all.Well done Hyatt!
