We stayed at the Grand Hyatt early July for 7 nights. The location is perfect and the hotel nice. Unfortunately, despite having booked and paid almost a year before arriving - we were told that the hotel was oversold and we had been put in a junior suite for this night (at this stage it was after midnight) and would be moved the following day. We were given a credit to use, but this did not make up for the inconvenience. Both rooms we stayed in size wise were quite good for New York however the bathroom floor had hair all over it and the shower recess and glass clearly not cleaned often. The attitude of the hotel staff is something I have never experienced from this supposed standard, they were indifferent with a 'couldn't care less' attitude. The concierge was looking the other way when we asked normal touristy questions!! Three of the check in & out staff were actually rude. Such a shame and so disappointing from a 'Grand Hyatt'.
I was travelling with my dance group. We stayed in the Grand Hyatt because the convention and competition was there. They had great facilities that worked really well for the dance events. One night I asked for a shower cap to be brought to my room and it came pretty quick (10-15 minutes). Sadly we had to move from this hotel on the last day because they had to shut their water off. Our room was pretty nice. It had a fridge, TV, mirror outside of the washroom, two beds, a small couch, small bathroom with a shower and bath (all in one). Overall, it was a pretty nice room and hotel! The location was also nice-walking distance from many big places in NY. They have a market in the hotel but it is really expensive.
Being right next to Grand Central makes this Hyatt an excellent choice to stay when visiting NY. Service was excellent. Get a loyalty membership so you can skip potentially long check in/out lines. Avoid using the hotel food & bev. Very pricy when compared to what is available right next door at Grand Central.
Grand Hyatt New York is an OK hotel. It did not fully meet our expectations. This was primarily due to the quality of the rooms. The rooms are not very clean and have seen better days. Nevertheless - the hotel´s location is perfect, and the lobby makes a very good first impression. It is truly beautiful. Staff is friendly and service is good.
The Hotel is gorgeous, and the staff is going the extra mile to make you feel great during your stay.Plus the view from the gym - which is located on the last floor- is breathtaking.The hotel is located directly next to Grand Central, so it's quite convenient to visit New York from there.
