Holiday Inn Downtown Soho
- What's Included
I made a same day reservation thru my Hilton app. Front desk staff were very pleasant and....surprise!!...had upgraded me to a top floor suite! Had a nice deck area off the bedroom with views looking north. Really enjoyed coming back to my room at night and heading out on the deck having a late night snack. I would most definitely stay here again. And it's just around the block from the Canal St. train station.
I just recently stayed here and I would definitely stay here again. I usually come to NYC twice a year for work but this was my first time staying in Soho. It was definitely interesting and it was nice that there were not a lot of tourist near the hotel. There is a little bit of a traffic jam here since people are trying to enter the Holland tunnel. There is easy access to the subway system and there is a great 99 cents pizza place around the corner.
This hotel was fabulous. Staff was awesome in getting us a room when we checked in early. Room had amazing city views. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you're doing things downtown. Walked everywhere. Would stay again.
Great location as it's very central and walking distance to most attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff with complementary breakfast and cookies in the afternoon. Excellent views of NYC from the rooms. Probably the only drawback was he lack of atmosphere in the bar in the evenings. Would definitely go there again!
Okay... This is a budget hotel in an expensive city... so you have to bear that in mind when looking at this hotel... Let's start with the location... it's on the main feed to the Holland tunnel and the traffic is a total nightmare! This means that taxis may need to drop you some distance from the hotel unless you want to wait in traffic for verrrry long periods. It also means that all the hotel room enjoy the persistent sound of car horns as irate drivers vent their frustrations. Otherwise it's not a bad location in terms of being close to SoHo and some interesting places. Next let's talk about the hotel itself... In my mind this place felt slightly tired. Walking into the tiny lobby feels somewhat dark and a tad depressing. I suspect the scaffolding on the outside of the building isn't helping the approach to the hotel so that may improve once it has been removed. The room (1406) was compact with a similarly sized bathroom... everything was clean and functioned as expected. The decor (in my mind) needed a bit of a spruce up. It had that feel of the late 90's... Green velour upholstery on the chair and cheap green nylon curtains with a dark brown carpet.. Two stylish B&W photo's of New York improved the walls... but it still felt like it needed a freshen up. The desk in the room had seen better days as had one of the bedside lamps and whilst these are small details, they add up and give a slightly drab feel. The bed however was very comfortable with more contemporary styled bedding which certainly lifted the room. Downstairs there is a small bar - there is not a minibar in the room I stayed in. The staff seemed very helpful and courteous. Overall I would say this hotel is okay... but I think there is a considerable amount of choice in this price range offering more bang for your buck...
