Holiday Inn Midtown
- What's Included
I chose this hotel my nyc trip because price and reputation were pretty ok.First of all, when you walk at the lobby everything looks glamarous. Receptionist was littlebit tired or something. She did her job but was quite overwrought. Well, I go to my room to tower B and basicly everything change. An old-fashioned corridor as well as all other artefacts there but really neat though. At the room all furnishings (bed, TV, coffeemaker etc.) were modern and very clean. Littlebit old-fashioned wc-door, wallpaper etc. but very clean and steady. Everything works like as it should.Biggest negative things are sound insulation. If the neighborhood room has even slightly noisy peoples you hear everything. And you can see the corridor light from door edges so you hear every squeak at the corridor.Biggest positive thing is cleaning group. They were friendly and everything is tip top shape. Free WiFi is allways a plus nowdays and few cup free capsule coffee per day is good. Was it bad experience? No, everything works just fine and nice location. Will I go again? No, too many little bugs here and there. And if you are light sleeper this place is not for you.
We chose The Watson for it's reasonable price and location to transport/restaurants/bars and it did not disappoint. Not the most premium hotel by a long shot and could definitely use a lick of paint but for a first time visit in NY it is a ten minute walk to Columbus Circle and other transport links. There are hundreds of places to eat close by, especially just up the road on ninth avenue. Myself and my partner both liked that we were far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square 15 mins away but still close enough to walk to other things, especially Central Park which is 10mins away.Huge rooms that were cleaned daily with fresh towels, bedsheets and soap. We ventured up to the pool one morning which is perfect for a quick swim or even a more relaxing few hours with a drink. We didn't use it but the bar in the lobby seemed to be very busy most evenings making for a great atmosphere!Toilet was a little old and noisy but from what I've seen, this seems to be the norm for NY. Overall very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
I have been here many times before under the Holiday Inn title. Always happy, but this time not so much. My room had no blackout drapes & the lights shone in all night long. It was incredibly loud as well. Maybe we were on a different side of street than we've been before but I didn't sleep a wink. We arrived in the rain & couldn't use the pool because of rain. It was the main reason I booked the hotel. I asked for a late check out the next day so my kids could swim as the pool doesn't open until 10 & checkout was 11. They flat out refused. I asked for only a 1/2 hour & they wouldn't do it. Very disappointing!
Spent one night there in June, 2017. Hotel seemed to be understaffed at peak check-in times, and the line for the elevators was very long (appeared as if they didn't have enough elevators too). Room was decent. Not a terrible value for the money, but I got it on hotwire last minute. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for the room, all told.
Spent one night here and was impressed by the hospitality of staff and clean and spacious rooms. The bathrooms in the South Tower are however too small and tight and not well laid out. Definitely due for some modernization to fit in with the size and decor in the rooms.
