Holiday Inn Midtown
- What's Included
We drove into the City from Massachusetts (first time driver into City) we began our day at the 9/11 Museum. We arrived at the Hotel approx. 6 pm on the Feb. 22nd, check in was a breeze. Julivia the agent who checked us in was very pleasant and went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. The Watson Hotel was a perfect location, close to Broadway, Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park. I booked a great rate for this hotel and was pleased with our accommodations. If I had one thing to say, the bathroom was very narrow and it had a small sink area. The staff that we encountered were very friendly. We had a room on the 12th floor, Room 1204 is it really was perfect for our needs plus we had a view of some of the buildings in Time Square. You are not staying at the Ritz but the Watson is clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. We had a blast in New York City and we never stopped for the 3 days we were there.
I stayed there in Feb. 2017, just a few days it shifted to "The Watson Hotel", as it was still under Holiday Inn.Even though the hotel has a somewhat "tired" look (I am not sure if it will undergo any renovation), it has very nice and spacious rooms and public areas, as well as all kind of amenities for a comfortabl stay. Even though I was there on business, it is mostly a hotel geared towards leisure customers, but this was not a problem at all. Location is good (even though if it were 2-3 blocks closer to midtown would be even better), but in general it has easy access to Times Square and all the famous spots of the city. The hotel is very clean and the housekeeping does a good job. Also the gym is good and free to use. Would surely stay again.
This hotel, formerly the Holiday Inn Midtown, changed ownership on February 15, 2017, and is now The Watson Hotel. My wife and I checked in just two days after that change, and we noticed quite a few changes since our last visit in August 2016. Positive things are that it seems that most of the excellent front desk staff has continued on with the new ownership, and nothing can change the superb location. New and upgraded bed linen and toweling are a plus, as are the upgraded amenities in the bathroom. And more of the rooms now have in-room safes TIP: if this is an important feature for you, be sure to make the request when booking your stay. One of the three elevators in our tower block had been out of service for a week, and this caused some pretty long waits during peak travel time. The main negative change has to do with the check-out process. In the past, the final bill for your stay was slipped under the door during your last night -- if there were no changes to be made, you could simply drop it off with your keycards at the front desk and be on your way. Now it's necessary to wait in line and check out in person -- add some extra time for this. And still to become clear is the future pricing policy -- no idea of the rates will stay in the same range as at present.
This is a decent hotel at a good price. The staff is friendly. It's convenient to everything. Very close to Central Park. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. I would stay here again. The hot part of the breakfast was so so, but there were plenty of other items to choose from.
My husband booked this hotel based on recommendations for his business presentation in the hotel meeting room. My son and I decided to join him for a NYC family trip. I was excited to see the hotel in the website; you can tell it was renovated based on the pictures. Well... just the pictures! It was a Holiday Inn until Feb 14th. (I'm wondering why the change of flag!) The parking attendants of the next door lot were very attentive. The concierge lady, adorable. Maria, the housekeeper on Sunday, very attentive. The front desk lady, average. The quality of the food in the bar and breakfast were average; but nothing neat in the organization and conditions of the place. The bartender and the breakfast attendants were nice. Here is my big issue: duct tape everywhere (border of the stairs to cover the ripped carpet in the lobby, in the frame of a mirror by the elevator, you name it. The bathroom, OMG, it was full of mold at plain view. From the moment that we entered the room you smelled this uncomfortable 'humidity' odor and even with a new wallpaper, the black spores were everywhere. In conclusion, if they want to change name and have those nice pictures in the website, why didn't they first completed the renovations by removing the mold prior of placing the wallpaper, or updating the corridors? There is an expression in Spanish that says "mono que se viste de seda, mono siempre se queda".
