This place is a little run down and old but the customer service and location make up for it. We stayed 6 nights and had no problems... The room was serviced everyday and the lovely staff at the desk were more than willing to suggest places to visit and tours to take while visiting New York
We had a great experience at the Marmara Hotel. The staff really is welcoming and helping. Our suite was spacious and well laid out. We felt there like at home. Ornament room is lovely, it is decorated with taste.
Unfortunately there is no such a thing as negative 5 stars. That's too bad because this hotel really deserves it. Outdated rooms, poor customer service, unbelievable pricing for what this place has to offer, horrible location, I honestly did not find ONE positive thing. Will never ever go back to this horrible place again!Take a look at the room pics if you think i am exaggerating!
If you are Ritz penthouse material this hotel may not be for you. However, I bet the staff is better here. Wonderful, friendly and professional is a huge understatement!!! My husband and I stayed in room 1102 a corner unit which had panoramic views of the city from the balcony. This was a treat as we had come to Manhattan for heart surgery and stayed at the Marmara until my husband had clearance to fly home. The unit was huge at over 1100 SF. Having two full bathrooms was very nice as my husband could have his own with all his post op paraphernalia without all my stuff cluttering the space. It was also wonderful having a kitchen where I could prepare healthy meals and, loved having an in room washer and dryer. There are several grocery stores right out the door and near restaurants for takeout or dine in. Fares to Mount Sinai are around $6.00. Our room was very clean with comfortable mattresses. The furnishings are a bit rough around the edges. Table legs are scratched and dining chairs not overly solid. Some baseboards could use some touch up paint. Still...nothing that would stop me from coming back again (which we will). You can not beat this hotel on pricing and SIZE of rooms anywhere in Manhattan. I highly recommend!Thank you Lisa Darbasie and all the staff from front desk to room cleaners to doormen for making such an emotional/painfull time so utterly wonderful!
I was assigned to this hotel when I traveled to NYC to give a talk at one of the large hospital systems. My first clue that this was a somewhat strange place was the lobby - dark and cavernous and stuck in the 1970s. My room was actually a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom 'apartment' with a full kitchen, living and dining room. This would perhaps be a great place for someone who needed long-term accommodation while on a work visit to NYC. The room was clean, the bed moderately comfortable. The furniture and carpets were old and worn and the TC didn't work all that well - difficulty finding channels that worked and then there was a lot of interference. On the plus side, the view from the 28th floor over the East River was spectacular. There are lots of restaurants and grocery stores in the area - the 'hotel' does not appear to have a restaurant.
