Marriott Marquis New York
- What's Included
My family and I stayed at the Marriott Marquis from August 13th-15th. Our stay here was great. We had a room on the 22nd floor with a view of times square. We arrived at the hotel around noon, the lobby was packed but the check in line moved very quickly and to my surprise they were able to put us in our room early. The room was very large given the fact that it's in New York City. The location was great too, you step out of the door into Times Square. The kids found the elevator to be quite fun. Other reviews talked negatively about their wait for an elevator. We never once had an issue the 2 nights that we stayed. The rooms were sound proof! I was very surprised that we couldn't hear any of the noise coming from Times Square, especially because our room overlooked the chaos. The room was exceptionally clean, I requested a refrigerator as soon as we got there and they quickly brought one up to us. I would highly recommend this hotel!
I travel to NYC 2x's a month and choose to stay at Hilton hotels. I took my 15 year old daughter to make it a work/ weekend trip and thought the Marquis would be a great experience for her. The first day we were there, I had to go into the office for a quick meeting and when I returned she was sitting outside the room on the floor waiting 1.5 hours for a repair man to fix our door- the digital lock shorted out. We were delayed another 45 min until the door was fixed- we were late getting to one of our tours b/c we could not leave without knowing the door was fixed. That night the sheets and pillow cases on the beds were dirty. The following evening my daughter wanted to take a bath. We called front desk and asked for a bathrobe and were told one would be up shortly. Before we knew it - 2 hours went by and no bathrobe. I called again- put on hold- I hung up. We were going to a show and needed to get moving, so she went into the bathroom and ran the water- hair fell out of the faucet into the tub. It was not our hair. I called housekeeping- on hold for 5 min. They offered to move us- we were checking out the next day and given all inconvenience, did not have time to move rooms and get to the show on time. I shared my frustration with the Housekeeping Manager and with the Front Desk Manager and they offered me a credit of 50.00 (really?) The room was 335.00 a night. They went up to 100.00 credit- and my company not me reaped those benefits. Marriott for your location and market share opportunity- you have work to do!! I will not be staying at a Marriott Hotel in the future. As far as the trip with my daughter- fantastic - so grateful I had the opportunity to take her to one of my favorite cities for the first time.
Quiet, clean and easy to get to testing site. Worth the money. Parking garage very close. Use Best Parking app to reserve so you know you have a spot. Food everywhere, no issues with that. Coffee in the room or Starbucks downstairs. I considered staying somewhere else, but opted to stay here because the exam was in the hotel. Best decision I could have made, even though it was on the expensive side, worth the peace of mind. Less stress for bar exam taker.
The location and view is a 10 and simply phenomenal. I had room 2036 which had perfect view of Time Square. My rating of 4 is because they should upgrade the rooms. Clean but the wear and tear are clear in the bathroom and carpet. My late night check in team member was Paulina and she gave me the sweetest welcome.
Cannot fault the location. Rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were incredibly comfy. We had a room on the 34th floor overlooking Times Square- it's fair to say we had a pretty fantastic view. Had to pay for wifi in the rooms which is unreasonable. The lobby was a nice place to relax, and the in-hotel convenience/souvenir shop was helpful for picking up snacks. The elevator system was very smart and minimised the waiting times, which is very useful in such a massive hotel. The Terrace bar had a fantastic view, great drinks and a nice range of snacks. Not cheap but worth it. Just a note- no beers on draft only bottled. There was a Starbucks on street level which was good for breakfast. The main restaurant in the hotel was extremely overpriced- steer clear at all times. Personally, when I next visit the city I would prefer to stay in a slightly smaller hotel, as at times I found it to be too busy, but I will definitely be staying in the same area.
