Marriott New York Downtown
- What's Included
My husband and I stayed here with our kids. We requested early check in at 12pm through the Marriott android app and were happy that they were able to accommodate our request when we arrived. Front desk rep was friendly and polite. If you're a Marriott rewards member and booking directly with them on their app it allows you to have free wifi. We stayed on the 25th floor with a slight view of the Hudson. Comfy beds/pillows, and clean room. It was a "typical" Marriott stay for me which I prefer. Pleasant and familiar. Being this was our first time in NYC this was supposed to be our base and we would just come back in the evening to sleep. But it was freezing during our stay below 20 degrees, so my kids needed more down time in the afternoon. Coming back to the our comfy "home-tel" (as they called it) room midday to warm up and recharge was nice. The downtown location for us was nice since we had tickets to see the Statue of Liberty and it's a very short walk to the Cruise Line.Within walking distance of 9/11 Museum, Freedom Tower, Trinity Church, Wall Street and easy subway ride to midtown. Location seemed very safe during the day and night. We enjoyed our stay.
I was staying for a few days as I was working at the NYSE and this was well-placed to walk to work and also to do some exploring of the city when I had time off. Not as ideal for those tourists wanting to visit sites such as Central Park etc. but very good for a slightly different experience of New York.
We very much enjoyed 4 nites at this hotel in January during the boat show. I was upgraded to a room with a view of the Statue of Liberty which was very nice. Breakfast in the hotel was just OK....not too crazy about that restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, but the concierge lounge is very nice. We walked over to the World Trade Center museum (5 minutes away) and enjoyed an escorted tour there. Just next door to WTC museum is the new Eataly where we had lunch and did some shopping. Another short walk brought us to the Native American museum and also to Fraunces Tavern where we enjoyed the small museum there. Finally. another short walk brought us to Delmonico's restaurant for a great dinner. We had a great stay and enjoyed being in this part of the city.
Amazing. What can I say. Every time I have been to the city, except for once, I've stayed with Marriott. However, I keep coming back to this hotel for so many reasons. It is just far out to be as 'real' as you can get in Manhattan, less touristy. It is in a perfect location to get to Wall St, Battery Park (for the statue of liberty/ Staten Island ferry)It is right next to the new Trade CenterThe service is AMAZING. The staff here are a credit to the company. The rooms are large, which you don't find, for the price you pay here. The rooms are exceptionally equipped, with safe/ tv/ coffee machine, full amenities in the bathroom. The beds are so comfortable. Rooms cleaned so well.We had breakfast here too- this was in Bills restaurant and the menu looked quite limited. However, its american sized portions and we were so full when we left! The hotel has links to the subway, numerous lines so easy to travel in to Manhattan and over in to Brooklyn/ Queens. And a short walk to the PATH station to get to NJ.Will continue to stay here every time I come to NYC!
I stayed two nights in March. This hotel does not offer room service. (Wahhhh!) I went to bed with no dinner my first night because I was just too tired to traipse back downstairs even for take out, which they offer from the Restaurant, but the next night, I did eat at the burger place in the lobby. I moved up to the Marriott Pulse for my final one night in the Big Apple, and the room was considerably smaller, plus they were remodeling so lots of noise. The bar scene up top had a great view of the Empire State Building however, with couples meeting for drinks etc.
