Top quality and amazing views

We recently stayed at the Downtown Marriott and loved it! It is about a block from ground zero, it is not in the middle of all the noise and chaos however it is close to restaurants, subway, mall, Battery Park, wall street, etc. Although we only stayed for 3 days it was memorable. you have the convenience of a full service Starbucks in the property. Our room had a clear and beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty, comfortable and large considering NY hotels. We absolutely loved and will come back

The hotel is located in a fantastic area of New York. Walking distance to the subway and many excellent tour locations. Our room was modern and a great size. However, staff had trouble understanding our Australian accent and over charged our credit card. We were also sold local only stamps for postcards we wanted to send back home. Upon confronting the staff member in regards to this issue we were told bad luck and just hope they make it. I don't think they understand how poor our dollars is compared to theirs. I think a trip to Wall Street is needed to understand foreign exchange rates It almost was $20 AUS to buy/send postcards home to family that will never be received very upsetting and disappointing.Overall the value for money is great for New York. However, the staff need improvement in customer service.

Lovely nights sleep

Only stayed for 2 nights as travelling through but was lovely and comfortable. Food was OK but we ate out mostly. Have to mention some staff seemed a bit miserable but others very attentive and helpful. Would Def stay again for a night or 2 if needed.

Not awful

This is an adequate hotel at best. Their rooms are in serious need of an update (stained furniture, poor bathroom lighting, outdated common areas). In addition, the fact that the hotel staff thought it would be fine to put me on a floor that cannot easily access the concierge lounge was a bit frustrating. If you do stay here and you're gold or platinum, ask to be on at least floor 17. The one saving grace at this hotel is the service in the concierge lounge. Mario deserves a lot of the credit for that. This was the first hotel in the US where lounge access was really a privilege and enjoyable. Again, this was largely Mario's doing, but it's with mentioning. Hopefully Marriott will realize what a fantastic location and staff they have here and upgrade the rest of the accommodations to match those attributes.

Excellent hotel, moderately-priced

What a find! Very convenient to lower Manhattan sights (911 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, etc.) – and with moderately priced taxi ride – convenient to Broadway shows. We’ve stayed in theatre district area before, and the nightly rates are outrageous. The Marriott Downtown was a great find. Loved the hotel – clean, quiet, great service. Lovely area to walk around as well. Several good restaurants in immediate area.
