Martha Washington Hotel
- What's Included
I have stayed here on business many times. Cute, boutique hotel. It is an older hotel, so the rooms are small. It is not a luxury hotel. The location can't be beat - across from Washington Square Park Hotel and near many great restaurants.
Washington Square Hotel is located next to the Washington Square Park and located in a calm area near NYU. There is an abundance of restaurants nearby. The subway is also nearby with several lines. The staff is very friendly and are a real plus for the hotel. The breakfast is included and quite nice. I can really recommend this hotel for "budget" stay in New York, IMO you get more than you pay for.
we booked this hotel for our honeymoon in NYC. having been before i knew i wanted to stay somewhere around the village to be close to great bars, restaurants, activities etc. this hotel is a perfect location! close to a subway and within walking distance of east and west village, the highline, china town and little italy. the staff were always friendly and helpful and booked a car for us to go to the airport as well as helping us do the onling check in for our flights. the breakfast provided is all fresh and tasty with to-go coffee cups so you can set off into the city fully prepared. the rooms may seem a bit basic and dated if you are more used to modern hotels but they are very comfy, clean, and quiet. there were loads of families staying here too and i would recommend it for anyone coming to NYC looking for a great location, clean, comfy hotel with friendly staff and a bit of history about it.
I've been to New York many times and had resigned myself to either staying somewhere inconvenient or having a room the size of a closet for around $300 a night. But now I finally know that there is a place that is perfect for me and this is it. It couldn't possibly be more convenient for all I like to do, and near many subway stops. For about $250 a night we had what for any big city was a very large room. There was a big closet and lots of drawers and shelves, really enough for two people's stuff for a week or more. Great lighting, windows that open, a big bathroom with a bathtub as well as a shower, seating for two, nice decor, and a thermostat and heating that were accurate and worked well, good pillows and bedding, soft towels, nice toiletries. The restaurant is good and the free breakfast was excellent. Surprisingly it was very quiet, more so than our apartment in Portland. Oregon. I never expected that in New York City! The staff were very nice and Beverly made us feel at home. One of the best hotels I've ever experienced!
The Washington Square Hotel is located in Greenwich Village, next to Washington Square and not far from a subway station. The hotel is located between 5th and 6th Avenue on Waverly Place in Lower Manhattan. It is also close to the NYU campus and there appeared to be parents of staying here. The Washington Square Hotel has been home to writers, artists and visitors to Greenwich Village for more than a century. It was even home to Bob Dylan and Joan Baez back in the day (for a short time). I stayed here with my wife for 2 nights in mid-August and generally thought the hotel was nice and I loved its great location. Our room was small and came with an undersized queen sized bed. While every room was non-smoking I thought our room had a strange smell (kind of a wet towel like smell). The bathroom was not very modern and could have used a facelift (in addition it was small). The cost of the room was about $295 night plus about $45 in taxes. The hotel staff was very friendly and efficient and the doorman was really friendly. They even let us check in early which was greatly appreciated since we arrived after an early morning flight.Overall I thought the Washington Square Hotel was nice and I recommend it. I enjoyed staying in this neighborhood versus a less interesting neighborhood in mid-town. To make it even better the continental breakfast was pretty good and was included in the price of the room. The best part of this hotel was the location since the room was nothing special. The art deco lobby was interesting and helps give this hotel a cooler vibe.
