Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel
- What's Included
Loved New York will be going back again soon . The hotel Sheraton was a lovely place to stay the rooms were clean and it was right in the heart of Time square. The only down thing I can say is as we went in the summer yes it was very hot out and I can understand hotes have to havein air con BUT in the Sheraton it was to to cold I could not sit inside the hotel for to long I was so cold I was turning blue I was sitting on the steps outside most of the time.. they need to sort out the air con and not have it so cold. But saying all that I would stay there again as were it is just up the road from everthink . I love New York so much to see and to go
Wonderful venue right in the centre of TimesSquare. What more can you ask for!Comfortable bed. Well appointed rooms.Worth a visit and definitely a great place to stay. Staff are very helpful and willing to make your stay memorable.
Came here for conference. Good location in the city, close to theaters, nice rooms, friendly staff. City traffic loud at night but not unexpected for NYC. Food at conference was excellent. Convenient to airports.
Full of bad incidents. On arrival we were left at the busy door with our luggage ( mid day)with no one helping. My wife had to go in and ask for help. And this also took a while. Front desk staff need a course in communication and hospitality. Rough and unwelcoming. When I logged into the wifi I got a questionnaire about my experience so far and I mentioned the above. To their credit I received an email immediately from management apologizing and offering 3000spg points to help improve the experience. Nice gesture but felt automatic, no questions about the details. First night was a nightmare. Elevator very loud and you can hear it throughout the night ringing. No sleep. I phoned next morning before 7 to complain and change the room, but they made me wait till 4pm. Still ride front desk, and had to talk to 3 different people. Room finally changed to a one further away from elevator (although you can still hear it). Elevator btw is very confusing and always crowded, and many of its digital dials are broken. Other fun stuff: cleaning is lousy and they once forgot a dirty cloth in the room. Phone handle was dysfunctional in the first room. Toilet bowl was clogged in the second !We were their for a conference and even the meeting rooms bathrooms were clogged. The AC was freezing in the conference and everybody was complaining. The conceited and the operators were nice and helpful (although the concierge messed up our ride to the airport on departure). Finally they charge you 4$ per suitcase to keep it with them if you're leaving after checkout time (without telling you !), oh and when I asked the front desk if I could delay checkout by an hour the answer was a plain no ( in a not so nice manner). And these are not cheap rooms by the way. The good thing is the location and the nice wide lobby, although there are other hotels with better location, and certainly with much better service, quality, and cleanliness.
First time in NYC. I expected a lot of action in the Times Square area, but it was even more super crazy busy than I imagined and I would not stay in that area again on a return trip to New York. Having said that, I was grateful that the Sheraton offered a good stay. We paid a small fee ($150) to upgrade a three night stay to a "Superior" room which meant a room located above the 21st floor. It did not mean a superior view which was of the office building next door. It was however located on the corner of the building so we had only one room attached to us which was awesome because the room walls are thin and you can hear carry over noise from rooms next door. Troublesome neighbors could really break a good stay here so it is luck of the draw. We ended up next to a young family whose kids rose early, but that was okay because we are early risers ourselves. We could not hear any outside noise thank goodness because it never slowed down and it was worse at night with many police sirens etc. Our beds were amazingly comfortable with luxurious linens, but the room was set with two double beds (not queens) and therefore the room was more suited for two people (we were three and two in a double bed is too tight). You already know the hotel is very well located for easy access to other neighborhoods and attractions, and close to the subway for getting around the city so I will just verify that it makes for a very good base camp. You should know that the mini bars in the rooms are monitored electronically and anything item that is picked up is automatically billed to your house account. It's filled with $6 chocolate bars, $6 cans of Coke, high-priced liquors and beers, and even a $25 universal charger. Left unattended while I as in the shower and my husband on an errand, our 12 year old "just looking" picked up and put down several items and we had a $172.00 mini bar charge on our account at check-out. We complained and it was promptly removed without argument which we appreciated. We also very much appreciated the free in-room coffee - there is a Starbucks conveniently located in the Lobby, but regular coffee grande size is $4 and that adds up! Check-in and check out were quick and efficient. Not sure why the big outcry about the elevator system - you punch your destination floor onto a screen and it tells you what elevator (by number) to get on...completely quick and efficient system that saves a lot of time and the aggravation of hoards of people trying to squeeze into the first available elevator...it's brilliant for the amount of people coming and going from the elevators. One last trip - avoid Lindy's restaurant across the street. They charge $25 for breakfast plate of two eggs, two pieces of bacon (or sausage), a pancake, toast, coffee and juice. If you exit from the rear of the hotel and walk a little, you will find a long row of food carts where you can get a giant breakfast sandwich of two eggs, cheese, bacon on a bagel for $4!!! Have fun :)
