Booked this hotel as it was close to everything we wanted to see,get to or experience. The lobby is VERY busy, neither queues to book in. We booked a club room as it gave us breakfast, snacks and drinks. The facility gave us everything we wanted although at times no room to sit.The receptionist gave us a room for the less asked and on the club room floor to help us.The elevators were very clever and access was easily obtained. The concierge was helpful as was the bookings ladies. We bought big bus tickets in the hotel and used a lot of the facilities but ate out.
This hotel was perfect, almost on Times Square. I asked for two rooms side by side and this had been arranged by Sharon Gilsenan, who could not have been more helpful during our stay. Our rooms were on the 24 floor, nice and quiet and they have a great system for the lifts. I had read from previous comments that when there were problems they were dealt with by JOSEPH GIORDANO, Reputation Management Coordinator. I had an issue with one of the rooms and I emailed him at Joseph.Giordano@sheraton.com the issue was dealt with. If you have a problem while staying there, he is the man to contact.
A two day shopping trip. The hotel was clean, convenient to "Midtown" and reasonably priced. The staff were competent, knowledgeable and pleasant. Parking is an issue, as the hotel does not have a garage or offer validated parking. Not withstanding the parking issue (take AMTRAK from Boston), would recommend this hotel unequivocally.
Stayed here on the advice of my travel agent. I arrived at 1745 hours from the airport only to be told my room was not yet ready, after a long day of travel failure to be able to check in this late in the day is simply unacceptable. This must either be due to too many late check outs ($150 fee) or not enough staff to service the rooms. The guy checking me in was adament there was nothing that could be done and had the choice of either a free dinner or $100 credit on the room, despite this I would have preferred access to my room. Also not withstanding $100 is not the real amount given the prices have a profit margin built in! Finally gained access to my room at 1845 and I was so ready for a shower and a lie down on a bed!!Had breakfast the next day in the hotel, it is self service buffet style. Had a plate of fresh fruit followed by some bacon, a small meat patty with mushrooms along with a mug of tea and that was a cost of $40! I guess as it is all you can eat you may get your value from it but my breakfasts tend to be on the modest size. The room itself was absolutely fine, cleaned to a good standard. Not sure of bed sizes in USA but was told I had a queen sized bed however it looked a little smaller than a double bed here in UK? Nice coffee at the beverage station (Starbucks) which was free whilst the minibar prices were eye watering. Nice sized TV with lots of channels however no BBC World News! Used the AC for cooling several times which was quickly effective! The windows benefit from double roller blinds in addition to curtains (drapes) so early morning light was not a problem. Plenty of hanging space and an iron with table so that was really useful. I am disappointed at the lack of an environmental policy in terms of towels & soaps. Despite hanging the towels to use again they were replaced as was the soap - interestingly the Hotel uses hard soap! Internet access in the room was charged at just shy of $15 per day however before leaving UK had chosen a bolt on to my mobile phone which was a fixed rate charge for calls & 3G which was fine so my advice is if you don't want to sit in the lobby with free WiFi check with your mobile phone provider as to what they offer. The main doors have quite a powerful self closer on them and most mornings I was woken by the sound of doors slamming shut where guests were just allowing them to close on their own. The lifts are fairly unique in my experience - touch pads where you select your floor and you are then told which lift to take and you do not have to do anything else it is all programmed in! The Hotel is clearly popular as a conference venue and one evening the lifts were so busy with delegates I was actually directed to the service lift just to the rear of the main block of lifts!! Each evening the bar area was really busy with delegates so tended to avoid this (no residents bar that I could see) and head across the street to a bar (Rosie O'Grady's).There is a bag check at $4 per bag which is useful if you are leaving after checkout (1200) and don't wish to pay $150 for a late check out. Used the Concierge who was really helpful and used the business centre to print tickets for the transfer back to JFKAll in all had a good stay but the check in really did seriously detract from the overall experience!
Expensive, but good location, nice staff except lady on tickets/ tours desk.large room (twin). Did not expect to pay 12 dollars to mind our 2 suitcases for a couple of hours after paying top price for room.
