Arrived at front desk and was told we had upgrade from junior suite to regular suite. Only difference was a wall between bedroom and living area. Square footage was same. We never used the butler service so not sure if really available. However , the concierge was really all I needed. Melody took care of me the whole 5 days we were there. Would greet me in morning. I would tell her what I wanted to do and she would have options when I left for the day. For instance, wanted a food tour. Melody and Phil , also very helpful, had various choices to choose from which turned out perfect. Rooms, were exceptional in all respects.Would definitely return to such an exceptional and historic hotel.
It's one of those things I dreamed of visiting. The Plaza is in so many movies/shows that it would have been exciting to see in person. We wanted to take our daughter for a special afternoon tea followed by a Broadway show. We made reservations via Open Table for Wednesday April 19th. Unfortunately, we made reservation for 11am to find out afternoon tea starts at 12pm. Checking in about 10-15 minutes early, we were told only breakfast was available. With a Broadway show to follow, we opted to just have breakfast since we were already there. We were informed kitchen was closing soon. As we were seated, water was served and was split all over the table without acknowledgement. My cup had a spot on it. The waiter took awhile to greet us. He took my husband's coffee order was bolted off as my daughter and I were taking too long to decide. I finally ordered tea and the waiter just offered me some random tea. Instead, I requested for a particularly tea in the menu and felt taken back given a long list of tea, he didn't even bother to ask what kind I would prefer. The toast of our eggs Benedict was cold and not toasted. My advice to The Plaza, don't let Open Table make reservation for a time where the kitchen is closed. Secondly, your staff should be more considerate and consider our position. We got seated so don't take it out on us if we're are troubling you at a terrible time between 11-12pm. I do not prefer to provide a bad review but I felt inclined given the poor class the Palm Court had provided given such an upscale Hotel. I'm truly disappointed. Congratulations for teaching my 11 year old daughter that The Palm Court is a disappointment. Many girls dream of having their wedding at the Plaza Hotel. I'm not so certain my daughter will think twice of the place now. The hotel itself is lovely. It would have been a wonderful Eloise Tea experience for my family during our visit. To add insult to injury, I then received an email from Open Table saying I failed to show up to my reservations.
Sorry I could not afford to stay at the Plaza but we did stop by and visit the world famous hotel and have a glass of wine. If you have the time and you know all the stories about the little mischief maker,Eloise, who lived at the Plaza you should pop in. They even have a painting of her. The architecture, the marble, the chandeliers and the sumptuous fabrics are well worth seeing. Then after your visit you can walk up Fifth Avenue and window shop with all the famous designer labels.
Ever since seeing Home Alone 2 many years ago, I had a dream to visit the Plaza for a sister adventure weekend in NYC. It did not disappoint! Fantastic, over the top service, elegance, beauty, class and a perfect location! Enjoyed afternoon tea, cocktails nightly at the beautiful bars and a perfect night's sleep. Will be back soon with my mother, as I picked out my perfect dress from Kleinfeld's for my wedding next Summer. I'm from Boston; my family lives in Florida and NYC is a favorite destination. Plaza will be my hotel of choice from now on. It really is quintessential NYC- an experience not to be missed!
Well, I've stayed at The plaza hotel and unfortunately the review is not positive. The building however is stunning but is the only thing about this hotel. When we arrived from the airport (9pm) there was no one to help us with the luggage at the front door, what a failure. The room is nice, the bathroom is beautiful. The bed had old sheets with holes on it. The second day we used the complementary service of the tesla to ride us a few blocks from the hotel, then arriving destination, the driver asked as for 20usd for the trip. Hello??? The hotel confirmed after the service should not bem paid, however we were asked to pay by the diver. We made a complaint to the duty manager, and she apologized and said this should never happened so the hotel would do the 20usd credit. We never used again the service "offered " off course! Not the case of the cost, we were absolutely mistreated. At the check out the credit was not done. Nothing I wasn't expecting, by the hotel attitude. No problem for us, we have a lot more nicer hotels to stay. But one thing I can say, the plaza hotel never again.
