Overview
The Plaza is one of New York's grandest hotels, built in 1907 in true French Renaissance style. The setting on Fifth Avenue and Central Park could not be more magnificent. Replete with the splendor of crystal chandeliers and views of the inner court, city or park, rooms are plushly decorated with quality furnishings and fabrics. In 2008 the hotel completed a USD400 million renovation, which included downsizing the 802 hotel accommodations to 282, allowing a higher level of personalized service, including a butler on each floor.

The last stay at the plaza..

The Plaza hotel is my only choice of stay for my trips to New York City. My husband and I love the feel, vibe, and location of the Plaza, generally, always satisfied with our stay. Situated across the park, minutes to the world's best shopping boutiques, steps away from the worlds most renowned restaurants, and just on top of sassiest food hall.To our surprise, our last experience was not up to par with our expectations. We felt like complete strangers at the hotel. Check-in took way too long as we had multiple reservations, we felt like we were being done a favour by arranging to stay in the same room.Our experience at the palm court was absolutely horrendous. The host refused to seat us and rudely brushed us off as he had “other” guests to seat. The dining room was half empty and we were the only people in line.After being seated and ordering tea service for three, the food quality being served was shy of packaged food bought from an average market charged at a premium. Please do not waste your money dining here. You are better off going to Boulud Café in the food hall and indulging in their fresh delicious goods.My husband and I are both platinum members, we are normally greeted with a welcome amenity being a delicious selection of chocolates. This was no where to be found. We notified concierge and front desk at least 4 times. We finally received the delivery at 1:30 AM!!! I mean, how can I not take that personal??! We rejected the delivery as we were both sleeping.I don’t like to be a complainer so I will refrain from mentioning everything else. Something major has gone wrong in this hotel, and normally its starts from the top. It is obvious that the hotel is cutting costs by cutting corners. That is not what you expect when you arrive at The Plaza. Definitely my last stay at this property. New York City has no shortage of luxury hotels… You will be missed..

Wonderful stay at a classic

Stayed here for five days and loved it. The rooms were in great shape and although my room was quite small it was well appointed and the service was great. Concierge helped me get a Broadway ticket and there was no wait to be assisted. Room service was very expensive and the quality didn't reeally fit the price but that is to be expected, you are paying for convenience. Cabs and drivers seemed to resist picking up or dropping off at The Plaza due to the congestion in front of the hotel but that can be avoided by walking around the block for pick up or drop off. Food court underneath the hotel was handy for coffee, pastry, or a quick lunch. Would definitley stay here again!

FANTASTIC!!

First of all our room wasn't ready when we came to check in because they were upgrading us to the Penthouse Suite! We were beyond stunned...then because we had to wait for the room they gave us free vouchers for drinks at the bar. After an hr our room wasn't quite ready so they gave us somemore vouchers..in about 10 more minutes our room was ready! It was out of this world! Two stories with a terrace overlooking Manhattan. Then someone came to our room with a free bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! This was beyond fantastic...also had the best nights sleep of my life! Would definitely stay here again!

The beauty of plaza!

We came into the plaza and I said this is AMAZING! I went to the lobby and the flowers were beautiful and the lights were glittering with light! We got to our room through a very nice elevator!! We go to room 45 and the mini kitchen was delightful and the closet was very easy to get our clothes! We got to the living room and the curtains were as beautiful as 100 beautiful stars! The couch was as soft as a cloud and more relaxing then 2 soft beds! There was a tv (20 inch) and 2 very big white bumpy doors. I opened one an there was a huge king size bed! There was a blue Couch in front of a big bed with fuzzy red blanket! There were 2 green lights and on both sides of the bed! There was a painting of a castle behind on the wall! There was a bathroom on the right and there was a toilet and then a black-tile shower (All glass was made by Carvart glass) When it was nighttime I got into bed and I saw a black tablet and it said “the plaza tablet”. I saw there was an app that said “room controls”. I went in and there was acc and heater! I said “WOW! Then I saw the other app and it said “room orders”! There was housekeeping, room service, vehicle request and much more! I woke up and we went to plaza restaurant for breakfast! It was amazing! I had fruits and pancakes and coffee! Then we had to go but I always will remember the “ The beautiful plaza! This review means I liked it and go to Owen to see AMAZING world-reviews! Never seen in my life such a bad service!!!!!

Let's start from the very beginning: we booked a trip to NY in order to celebrate my 25th birthday.31st of August 2017. I arrived at hotel and the manager( I think his name was Alik) - was extremely rude, not helpful and refused to give me a room ( even though I have a confirmation, credit card details and a passport of my boyfriend), saying that he needs an approval from him and I have to call him ( the question - how come he knows that it's exactly my bf is on the phone?!?) - after the brief conversation he finally gave me a key without even apologizing for the rudeness and inappropriate for a manager behavior.Further: 1st of September - my birthday. No even a card from a hotel side, no flowers, ni messages, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Even though the personnel was aware that I have a birthday and it was mentioned couple of times. When my Love also mentioned it to the personnel - still nothing has been done."I don't know about the guest relations service - I think it's just simply doesn't exist in the hotel, and the manager was EXTREMELY arrogant and rude. Further on: we provided a card details and then immediately provided another car and asked couple of time could you please take money from THIS card.As a result: they keep taking money from both cards until we came to the reception and asked them to stop.The only one positive thing in this stay was they allowed us a late check out as the behavior of the manager was inappropriate.So conclusion: if you want to have an excellent service and nice people - it's definitely not this hotel. Also NOT RECOMMENDED for weddings, birthdays, and any kind of celebrations.The end.
