Stayed in the Warwick 25 years ago for business and this time, for our 50th. wedding anniversary, the experience needed to be just as pleasant. Fortunately for me it was. The location is excellent - near central park, across from the MOMA, walking distance to the Metroplitan if you're fit, the theatres and so on. There's a good selection of restarants nearby (we thought the Rue 57 was the best value), and a decent Irish pub and one of those excellent Xian chinese cafés next door for lunch. The bar in the hotel is pricey, the service a bit on the slow side and the food very average. The breakfast was absolutely excellent though but do try and get a package which is well worthwhile. The Warwick is unpretentious from the outside and just what we like i.e. not one of those posh places that's doesn't live up to the show. It is a traditional hotel that works - no plastic and chrome. We stayed in a suite that was excellent in all respects - two double beds, stting room and so on. The bathroom is small but does it's job. We negotiated a decent rate (for New York) with breakfast and no silly irritating extras. The staff were very good - Robert and the boys on the concierge desk (vital for NYC) were excellent - as were all the staff on the 15th. floor and the front desk. The GM was just right too. All in all, if you visit New York it's difficult to find better than the Warwick even if you pay a lot more money. The only issue is with NYC itself which is just about borderline livable on pollution especially for noise but there's nothing to do about that.
Great location as just about everything is within walking distance. Room had no view but the benefit of that was how quiet it was. Only had a drink in the bar as we ate out all the time. Friendly and efficient staff.
I went to NYC for a party and stayed at the Warwick. The location cannot be beat. The staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really good and the rooms are big for NY. This is really great find and I'm so happy we stayed there.
The Hotel upon entering had yellow caution tape on the front revolving doors as you walked in. I really wanted to believe it was a 5 star hotel but probably 4 stars at best. The good was the bellman and the servers in the restaurants; they were always cheery and helpful. I have limited dietary restrictions so I inquired if I could heat up a meal I had delivered to my hotel room. I asked Eliz at the front desk if I could heat it up or have someone heat it up for me. She sharply replied "no!" I asked if I could pay to have it heated up, she said, "we don't do that for guests," abruptly turned around and dismissed me. I ended up throwing my meal away, and checking out. I also was stuck in one of the elevators for over an hour one evening ............hotel guests informed me that it was not the first time THAT day the elevators had stopped. scaaaarrry......... The incessant knocking from, housekeeping, turn down service, mini bar check, plant watering...........was very invasive during my stay at the Warwick for WORK. I also took some clients out to dinner and asked the concierge if they could make reservations for my party of 5 at a nearby restaurant; I spent a good 10 minutes on the phone going over the time, party size, etc.... We showed up at the restaurant and they had no record of a reservation made by the hotel...... a little embarrassing and preventable.
A great hotel with authentic new york charm. First of all , Location is key. The hotel is ideally located blocks away from times square and central park. To add to the convenience,The subway is only 2 blocks away. Secondly, the staff are great.from the bell boy, front desk staff, house keeping staff , every1 were curteous and polite. Now the gorgeous rooms. The rooms were massive. They have to be one of the biggest rooms I have stayed in new York. The suite was fully equipped with a mini bar, coffee machine , 2 large queen size beds , a dining table , and a dressing table - everything you want and need. The buffet breakfast is a must try @ the hotel. The hotel also has a popular bar / restaurant which is always busy with trendy new yorkers.Thank you warwick for making my stay very very memorable.
