We were very impressed with the accommodations we had at this resort. For the price it far exceeded our expectations. The unit was spacious and clean. We especially liked the screened in porch where we could sit and enjoy the view (and the weather) ... and the dishwasher and washer/dryer in the unit meant we had more time to enjoy that view. It is relatively close to Disney (20-30 minutes). Staff were great. We would definitely stay here again.
The only reason I stayed at Bahama Bay was because my father gave me his complimentary stay package that he won at work. If it were up to me, I would not have stayed in the first place. And now that I've experienced it, I will tell everyone I know how horrible our experience was. I am five months pregnant with a toddler and carried said 40-pound sleeping toddler up a flight of stairs to a condo that was already occupied. And this was just the first of many annoying things that happened as a result of your staff's incompetence. I did not feel safe staying at a place where the staff gives out keys to occupied condos. Who knows who could have been barging in on ME?We had a complex reservation including 2 complimentary nights and 2 paid nights for our stay. The people who arranged the reservation assured us that it was all taken care of and that the check-in desk would know the nature of our complex stay and that our condo would be the same unit for the entire stay. This was not the case at all and had to be managed at check-in. The check-in process took forever and was A NIGHTMARE. Not only were we at the desk for more than 30 minutes, when we finally got our keys and opened the unit THERE WERE ALREADY PEOPLE STAYING IN THE CONDO. This ruined our entire night--putting off our dinner plans until well after 9pm and causing my toddler to sleep in our car for part of the night because we did not have a condo for his bed time. Then, when we got a new condo and arranged for keys to be waiting for the other half of our party at the check-in desk, those KEYS DID NOT WORK in the new condo. There was not one simple thing that any of the staff did correctly for our check in. The front desk, from the management to the trainees, had no idea what was going on nor how to do their jobs properly. Incompetent from the top down.On first inspection, the unit looked moderately/quite clean, but the more we inspected the more it became clear that things were not very clean. My toddler ran around barefoot for less than 20 minutes before bed and the bottoms of his feet were black from the dirty floors. We found several bugs over the next couple of days, including two roaches running around. The condition and furnishing of the unit was sub-par. One of four stove burners was not installed, the microwave had a huge burn on the inside of the door, the living room TV had a small screen and was seriously outdated, the master tub had a quarter-sized rusted area near the drain. I spent as little time in the condo as I could because I did not feel safe or clean there. When I checked out a day early (and before 10am) the staff was hardly surprised that I wanted to leave (sounds like this happens often)--the manager offered very little in way of apology nor did she show the slightest interest in hearing details about why I was leaving. The ladies handed me a slip of paper/receipt and did not explain anything about what I was being charged for or how they were going to compensate me (or not compensate me) for my horrible stay/leaving early. I was too emotional at the time to blow up on them (after all, they were not the same staff people who had caused all our problems) and I had a very busy vacation planned and just wanted to be off your property ASAP.
This our second year in Florida and second time at the Bahama Bay, just as enjoyable staying here as it was last year whilst a little further from the parks than others it is then a little less busy, no complaints at all clean tidy everything you want huge two bedroom condo with wrap around balcony. Gardens kept very tidy as are the pools (4) two of the pools have food and drinks service, Trade winds restaurant has a very good menu and Garth the new chef is expanding the menu even further for those who wish to eat in, if not there are plenty of restaurants near by also supermarkets. All in all a great base to stay in and I would definitely recommend and return myself anytime.
We have just returned to the UK after our wonderful holiday in Orlando. We stayed at Bahama Bay for 12 nights. We had an immaculate 2 bed apartment on the 2nd floor. The resort was lovely and a very good location close to the parks. Gorgeous beach area overlooking Lake Davenport. Very nice, clean pools. Lots of activities. We didn't use the restaurants on site but they looked lovely. Staff were all very helpful and very friendly. We are missing it already! Would return here without a doubt! Thank you for a lovely holiday Bahama Bay!
We visited Bahama Bay Resort at the beginning of August and had a very good stay.We stayed for 2 weeks in total and booked a 2 bedroom apartment through Virgin Holidays. The complex is ideally positioned if you want to be close to the main attractions but away from the hubbub. The resort is positioned very near the 192 (which is the main road with all of the main restaurant chains leading to Disney and the Interstate 4 that takes you to Universal Studios), and is a 5 minute drive to Publix for weekly shops. The complex itself is very large and has multiple pools which are within walking distance. The pools are well kept, but there are no life guards so do not leave children unattended. There are wonderful views of Lake Davenport, and you can see the variety of wildlife easily from the safety of the pontoon (Lizards, Alligators, Vultures, Ibis, Racoons etc.). The apartment we had was very roomy and was well equipped for our needs. The appliances all worked well and we frequently used our dishwasher/washing machine/tumble dryer. We also booked a tennis court when we were there which was a lovely experience too!
