Bahama Bay Resort
- What's Included
Stayed from January 12th to 20th. The hotel accommodated my requests that were made prior to our arrival. We requested a round floor with 2 high chairs and 2 cribs. Both were in the unit when we arrived. The room was clean and in good condition. We had 2 minor issues while at the resort. The first was coming back from the parks on our third day to find caution tape in front of the condo as they started to replace the roof. Spoke to the front desk and the workers were only going to be there between 9-5. Since we were going to be at the parks we opted to stay in the unit. The front desk gave us a voucher for the restaurant on site and they were going to refund us for 2 nights due to the inconvenience. (Still waiting for this credit). Second issue we had was we found ants on the bed in the front room. We called maintenance and they came and sprayed the room. However they didn’t not remove the piece of food that the ants were attracted to which caused a larger issue as the week went on. Since they had only sprayed the front room the ants then moved throughout the unit. We requested a room change at this point as with 2 small children playing on the floor we didn’t want them to spray the entire unit. The front desk accommodated the request promptly and moved us to another ground floor unit. This unit was nicer then the first unit and was located in building 6. The grounds were very nice. The pools were heated and even with the cool weather we had during our trip we were still able to use them. On a good day you are about 20 minutes to Disney. 15 to Animal Kingdom. Typically with traffic you are about 30 minutes. For the price we paid it was definitely worth the money. I would look at staying at this resort again in the future.
We were on a family vacation over the Christmas/New Years' holiday 2017-2018. It was my husband, 2 children and me. Let me say upfront that I'm generally a planner and know where I'm going to be staying at the least 6 months before I actually go on vacation. Note I said "generally" a planner. This vacation we winged it the whole time. Other than finding a place to stay the first week a couple weeks before we were ready to go, we decided to figure things out once we got there. Our first weeks stay, we had to be out on New Years' Day as it was already booked for the month of January. We really hadn't given any thought to where we would stay until we had checked out of our location on New Years' Day. I know, nothing like stress being "homeless" for a few hours. After a Google search, we found the Bahama Bay Resort by Wyndham. We are Wyndham owners; however, we were saving our points for another vacation at a later date. I gave them a call and they had a room available for check in at 4pm the same day (Building 26, Ground Floor, Room 206, 2 Bedroom Unit). Upon arrival, we found it was a gated community with a guard station. Check in was a breeze; the lobby was very inviting. We received our keycards and another card that allowed us to check out as many movies as we wanted for free. It was very clean and nice. The beds were like new, the kitchen was very big and fully stocked. There were 2 bathrooms, a walk out screened in patio with chairs and table. Unfortunately, it was very cold, so we didn't get to enjoy the patio. There's also a washer and dryer, a dining area with seating for 6, plus the living room and the counter/bar area with plenty of space to hang out. There are multiple heated pools and hot tubs as well as a sauna in the club house. There's also a gym available. You'll find a restaurant onsite, a beach area with a dock if you want to fish. You do have to have a fishing license in order to fish in the lake. This could be a vacation in and of itself. In fact, we spent 3 days hanging out onsite because of the amenities. There is a path to walk around 2 ponds on the grounds. There are multiple areas to take really good family photos; especially at the entrance where there is a waterfall, you can walk on the path past the guard station and take all of the photos you want. Needless to say, we were extremely impressed with everything. You're probably asking why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5? HOT WATER or lack thereof should I say. I like to take extremely hot showers. I have neck pain and the only relief I get is moist heat which comes in the form of a hot shower. You'll walk into a master bath and there is a huge garden tub; but it's just a teaser because you'll get about 6" of hot-ish water and then you have to wait about 30 minutes to get more hot-ish water. I called maintenance because I thought maybe they had it set on a lower setting to ensure that it was child safe but he said that it was as high as it would go. Don't get me wrong, you'll have enough hot-ish water to take a full shower, but you'll never steam up the bathroom or get that feeling of warmth from the water. Unfortunately, that is one of the most important things for me. Temps. were in the 30's that entire week and after a day of being outside, all I wanted to do was take a very hot shower to warm up and it was too late to get in the hot tub. So, would I recommend this place? Absolutely! Just know that if you love HOT WATER like me, you will be disappointed. If you're thinking right now that I'm an extremely spoiled petty person because I like hot water, then you'll love this place. I say go for it, just know you'll only have hot-ish water and the super big garden tub is for looks, not use. All in all, I love this place and will definitely go back, but the hot water thing will not allow me to give them a 5. PS. Because it is a personally owned unit as I believe they all are, they provide you with enough supplies for a couple days such as paper towels, tp, etc. Be sure you know this up front. If I travel by vehicle, I usually just take extra stuff from my house to keep from buying it when I get there. Be sure to take plenty garbage bags. They provide tiny little ones that can't really handle real trash. The trash receptacle are right out front so very convenient as well. Anyway, happy vacationing!!
We just completed our second stay in Sharon and Lynne's Bahama Bay condo (20-908), and we can't say enough about the quality of the condo as well as the quality of service we received from Sharon and Lynne! The condo is not only platinum-rated, it is also in a premium location, convenient to the two main pools and walking path. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast every morning on the screened porch looking out at the pond and fountain. It was such a peaceful way to start the day! Bahama Bay has a lot to offer -- it's very convenient to the parks, yet it feels so peaceful and relaxing, with four pools and a beautiful walking path. Sharon and Lynne's condo is in pristine condition, clean and nicely decorated and furnished with everything you need to enjoy your vacation! Sharon and Lynne were so pleasant to deal with, responding quickly to any question and facilitating a smooth and easy booking process. We have already booked a third stay in this wonderful condo! Thanks Sharon and Lynne!
I debated whether to give three or four stars. Positives; Rooms are enormous Brilliant to have two separate bathrooms Laundry room Great locationGreat poolCould improve;Noise levels of those above. You can hear people above you stomping around like elephants. Rooms are quite dated, but not a problem for us. Cleanliness. I found Cheerios under beds and in cupboards. The bath was stained. Slightly off putting. Building work is being done. We were next door to the building work and they start at 8am. No chance of a lie in. We arrived after a long flight at around 9pm (2am UK time). Got into the room and I started to unpack. I felt something on my head and it turned out to be the ceiling pouring with water. There were also lots of tiny bugs crawling all over the work tops. I called reception immediately and was moved within an hour. That was fine, but who checks these rooms before they place customers in there?!!!!
This resort is so awesome!! So many amenities, the rooms are huge! Best value in Orlando! Only 10 Minute to Disney. Personally we like the Ground floor Villas. Close to Clubhouse or Beach would be our recommendation.
