Clarion Suites Maingate
- What's Included
We stayed in room 116 and it was just fine. Our room didn't have big issues, the toilet was odd to flush and the front door had a slight gap at the bottom corner but none was anything we felt the need to complain about. We had a clean room, comfy beds, quiet area, and lots of places to shop and eat at near by. This hotel is very close to Disney and offered free shuttle to and from the parks. Our room included free breakfast which wasn't grand but it did the job as we were in a hurry. The pool was impressive with how clean it was for being an outdoor pool. The hotel is very spacious all around and we loved the coffee shop. We had free transportation to theme parks by Platinum Transportation and my complaints were at times it was over crowded and the return trips were not offered until 530 and later (as we were exhausted by noon) but again it's not far and we made due until 530 so it wasn't a very big deal. There isn't a lot to complain about with this hotel it's a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel and the price is great. Their website offers deals and especially if you go through the Disney website and click on the good neighbor hotels. Grab coupon books from the lobby as there are many places where kids eat free and extra bonuses.
We needed one night's lodging on a road trip (night of May 13). We were definitely not the usual guests as nearly everyone else appeared to be bound for the theme parks.I chose this hotel based on high ranking for value, decent ratings, and low cost. I booked via 3rd party (Get a Room) and received confirmation of 2 queen bed room booking. We arrived about 8 pm and were originally sent to a room with one queen and one pull-out couch. I returned to desk and sought clarification. The very nice and friendly young lady there told me her screen showed that I had *requested* 2 queens but no rooms of this type were available and I should have been notified. I later went back and carefully reread confirmation emails and they did confirm 2 queens with no mention of necessary room substitution. I explained o the staff that normally I would not mind but we were arriving after spending several days with relatives where my kids slept on an uncomfortable pullout and we were really looking forward to all being in comfy beds. She asked me if i minded mismatched carpet. I was puzzled by this query at first, but she explained there was one room, seldom used, with 2 queens but the carpet was mismatched. We cared not at all about carpet color so we grabbed it.The room had a very faint stale odor (which may attributed to the "seldom used" and older carpeting bit) but it was a small trade off for two beds. I should mention that the first room we were given (1 queen, 1 pull out) had no odd odor. The property is beautifully landscaped and the pool looked inviting (though we were not able to try it out). The maintenance staff was very quick to respond (we had a problem with key in door on morning of departure; we went to desk to report it,; staff called maintenance and he was at our room door when we arrived). I witnessed one other customer complaint (coffee maker issue) and again the staff promptly alerted maintenance staff. The staff who checked us in was very friendly. The staff the next morning was more stoic, but not unprofessional--just not as inclined to smile. It looked like most people were using this as a lower cost alternative for a home base for theme park vacation. I can see how this would work well. The rooms had fridge and microwave, there was free breakfast (more about that below), and there was a posted shuttle service though we had no personal experience with this. The breakfast was typical for this type of hotel--it was one step above the usual cold offerings. There were (recently re-hydrated) eggs, biscuits (hard as rocks) and tasteless gravy in addition to cold cereal and grits and obligatory waffle maker. Most people can find something to fill their stomachs and start the day, but it is nothing to get excited about.
Our room was fine. Bed very comfortable. We stayed four nights. Our room was on the second floor facing the back. Nice and quiet. The breakfast was perfect!! Everyday day a different meat was offered. Not your typical hotel breakfast. Staff nice and courteous. Definitely would stay again.
Stayed here for 8 nights in April. The hotel is close to Disney. You can drive there in a few minutes or around $8 with Uber.Friendly staff on reception.Very good free WiFiClean room with fridge, microwave and safe. Good air con (although it can be noisy)Nice big bathroom.Breakfast was good and similar to other hotels we've stayed in. Bread, bagels, cereal, waffle makers and a small selection of hot items that are rotated every few days. The pool area liked nice and was much bigger then similar hotels but we never got a chance to use it as we were always out.Only a few negatives:When we first arrived we noticed some carpet missing by the entrance to the bathroom. Normally this wouldn't be enough to complain about but there were a lot of exposed spikes (see photo) which was an accident waiting to happen. We mentioned this at the front desk and went out and a few hours later came back and there was a mat covering the dangerous spikes. Whilst this was good service this room shouldn't be given to guests until the carpet is properly fixed. There's also quite a lot of building going on at the back of the property so there was a lot of noise (beeping and banging) Loud everyday from 7am.Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay near Disney.
We stayed here between 8th-23rd march. We arrived late after a long day travelling, we were checked in very quickly and given directions to the room. We were amazed once we got in the room 2 good size double beds, a sofa, table and chairs, tv, fridge, microwave, safe, and a decent size bathroom. We didn't pay a lot for this hotel so we were only expecting a cheap and cheerful room, it definitely exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed in our room, there was a pool and a BBQ area. The wifi worked brilliantly which was great for downloading our photos from our days in the parks and facetiming home. The rooms were spotless every day once we returned from the parks. We made use of the laundry room which was ideal for doing the washing before returning home. The hotel is situated in a brilliant spot along the 192, only 15 mins from anywhere in Disney and 20-25mins from universal and sea world. There's a supermarket just round the corner and also a super target 5 mins up the road. The 192 is packed with fast food restaurants so we never went hungry. The only gripe we had with the hotel was that the key cards for our room didn't work on more than one occasion which was quite annoying but reception sorted this out for us straight away. Please don't be put off by any negative reviews. This hotel is brilliant if your doing the theme parks, it's just a base to sleep and has everything you need. We will definitely be returning!
